Is any part of the web setup a virus/trojan?
« on: July 16, 2017, 09:46:57 am »
I looked up "7zipsfx.000" on Google, something that the comes up on the command prompt, and Google details this as a trojan.
Norton Antivirus also wasn't too happy about letting aria2c connect to a different IP through the internet to start the web setup. It asked if it was allowed, and I allowed it this once. Help!

I'm going to do full Norton and Malwarebytes scans, so I'll add to this when those are done. Please help me. :3

According to the internet, aria2c is a lightweight multi-protocol & multi-source command-line download utility. It supports HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, BitTorrent and Metalink. BitTorrent I think is what is currently being used for Feral Heart's preset sync. So, if you are using preset sync or have recently downloaded it, aria2c isn't something to worry about. Norton is an overly protective anti-virus. The anti-virus is pretty much an equivelant of baby proofing areas of a house for a young adult. Yeah..

As for 7zipsfx.000, it doesn't appear to be a virus otherwise I'd imagine Norton would have picked that up already. But of course, if you feel comfortable with running an anti-virus scan, then you're more than welcome to. Have you recently installed the 7zip SFX program? Or 7zip? Because this is what it seems to be.

Malwarebytes detected nothing, and Norton usually blocks the download if it detects a trojan attack. I should be fine. Maybe I'll give it a try! I'm very choosy with my laptop.

I used the web setup version as I have heard torrenting is dangerous. May run a Norton scan.

To clarify, torrenting itself is very safe but it all depends on where and what you torrent. The torrent download version of the game is very safe! All torrenting is is a P2P, or peer to peer, file sharing method. It's a way to share the download in a fast and efficient way. ^^

Thank you for the reassurance, Morgra. :)

I have anxiety, so downloading games can be really testing for me!

I questioned the 7zipsfx.000 that came up in the Command Prompt dialogue the most - Googling this revealed links to Trojan malware that copies keystrokes and steals banking info! Obviously not something I want.

Norton and Advanced SystemCare turned up nothing, so I'll try a web setup again. Thanks!

Woohoo! All up and running with no malicious signs yet.

I just can't get into the game. It says "connection to front server failed". Help? xD

Glad that you could download the game!
And all you need to do is to keep the PlayGame tab open at all times while you play
(Here: https://feral-heart.com/login/index.php )
If it keeps reconnecting you, you can try using a web refresher!

Log in page should only show one weird ad every 6 hours or so  (i get ads for books or casinos) and the black?  Have you tried restarting the computer?  That sometimes fixes it.
The Japanese concept of wabisabi:
The closest concept in english would be 'rustic'
They might have an old thing, one example is a favourite bowl or dish, it's broken, pieces are missing, why fix it?  With gold and pieces from other dishes?
"Because it was my favourite & I like it"
