Old Map Glitch- Need to Get A Character Out
« on: March 02, 2020, 09:16:50 pm »
Hi!
Obligatory little statement- I apologize if this has already been covered in another topic- couldn't find any through searching, and it'd be wonderful if someone could direct me over to said thread if it exists. ^^
But I just recently installed the latest version of the old maps, and everything seemed to be working perfectly, up until I had my character jump through the portal. The only thing that comes of it is the "Failed to connect to map server. Retry?" pop-up. Clicking OK puts me in a bit of an endless loop of waiting to no avail, with no other activity on the screen to speak of, and Cancel, of course, just brings me right back to the title-screen.

Now, honestly, I wasn't very intelligent in choosing to try and go through the first time using a character that I'm very emotionally attached to- he's my main lad, and the first char I made on this account. Thanks to some screenshots I took at an earlier date of all his color codes and his stature/body factor thingamagigs, I could very well just make an identical character to what he was, and be done with it- but in doing so, I'd lose his bio. And, at that, I know it might seem kinda silly to be getting sentimental over a bunch of pixels, but I also really, really don't want to lose that version of the character /itself,/ if you know what I mean.
So if all possible, I'd like to explore every option possible in trying to get back dear ol' Whimworth.

All of my other ferals work and connect perfectly fine- it's just him that I can't use at the moment.

Is there any possible way to fix this old map glitch, and finally get through to the other side of the portal?
I've tried closing out of the game entirely a few times, and I've logged in and back out a number of times, as well, but that didn't seem to do anything.
Would uninstalling and reinstalling the game reset him back to The Lonely Cave, or would that make me lose him /entirely/ to the glitch? Would reinstalling and replacing the old map files be worth a shot? Or maybe just deleting all these said files?
Or is there maybe a way to get into the files and reset where my character is from there?

If there's any more information I can give, I'd be happy to- and I'm willing to try just about anything at this point if it means I might be able to get him back.

Just to clarify, is this a modification that replaces the 1.15 maps completely or is this just a map pack?

If you're stuck in a map, sign into the user panel (access it via front page) and it should give you a list of all your characters and you can reset their spawnpoint and/or send them to where ever their home is set.

Map addition.

And oh, I didn't know about that function! I'll try that out immediately.

To solve that in advance, just look for another mod. XD I've skimmed through those for a while, and I found at least 2-3 different versions, lol.

I highly recommend this one if you haven't used it yet.

xSpirit had a really decent mod called Feral Heart Classic but unfortunately it was removed since he has since left
