Are items free to use as map objects?
« on: November 06, 2018, 12:00:51 pm »
There are some items that'll look good in maps, but are the items free to use as objects in maps? Do I need to give credit to the creators of items used as objects? I don't know who created the items.

My presets.

You can, yes, but only if you do know how to credit it properly for personal use. If you don't know where it came from, who made it, or if the creator's license for said items includes rules saying not to, it's best not to use it.

When you’re finished with your map and putting it in the file and such for people to install, place s notepad in the folder as well and label it “credits” or so, give thanks and credit “all rights to the owners who made these objects” if you do not know the users and all that! (:

I'm getting mixed messages, so it's best not to use it if I don't know who created it, but I can state "All rights to the owners who made these objects." if I don't know who created it? What do I do?

If you know exactly who to give credit to, include that in the notepad, otherwise include that none of the items/meshes belong to you and all credit belongs to their rightful owners and creators, or something to that effect ;3 People do it all the time hun~

You are amazing <3

It's completely fine if you don't know who made the objects. No big deal. I do it all the time, just give credit to the rightful owners if you aren't sure who made them. (: Like Bloo ^ said, if you know who made them go ahead and add it in the notepad.

As Bloo. said, people do it all the time. So I don't think that you should worry about it too much. Just create a Notepad and type something like 'Credits for objects go to their rightful creators'. :)

This is the only thing I'd keep an eye on, if the person who made it doesn't want it being used publicly or something, it would be known before you download it. This is rare though so no worries really!

Am I able to use an item as a map object then state "All objects belong to their rightful owners"?

The map I'm currently working on has some objects that I assembled and some I own the textures and assembly of, but I don't own the basic shape meshes I constructed the object with, who do I credit for the objects I assembled?
