Character running animations - varied on scale?

I noticed that walking and running only ever look 'right' when you're a default height.

If you're small, the ground sweeps below you.

If you're big, you walk faster than the ground goes.

In an experimental game I had been working on, the animation played, and the rate that it played at was according to both your characters scale, andcurrent speed.
A small character would have to gallop or run to reach the speed of larger characters just walking.

I've noticed that too. It would be nice for the smaller characters to have faster leg movements than the larger characters.

this kinda reminds me of mabinogi... you could have pets, and they grew over time- when they were little, they looked they were kinda spazzing out to run at full speed (it was kinda funny...) but as they grew, their legs moved slower. something like that?

It makes sense though. Most smaller animals are slower because they are babies. Older animals or bigger might be faster because they are more strong.
