If it's not finding objects, maybe a reinstall of the map pack might help. That's what helped mine.
If your characters are getting stuff, to get them back you'll have to take out the map pack and then start up as one of your lost characters. You should be in an all black screen, and you'll have to click the feather icon and teleport back home.
