Ever wondered what those overlay files were for?
« on: December 01, 2013, 01:41:44 am »
If you don't know what I'm talking about, look in your Feral Heart>Media>Overlays>Overlay2.

When you start up Feral Heart, you see a bunch of buttons with text written on them, and this is seen throughout the game. Basically what the overlay2 files do is allow you to change what the text says.

To start out with, they may look a little bit like this:

*Note that we're looking at the file icons in this screenshot.

In order to change it so that you can open the files successfully, go to Organize>Select All> and then go to Open.
You should have a window popup that looks like this:

Choose the second option, "Select a program from a list of installed programs," then click OK.

Now your screen should look like what is shown above.
For this, I decided to use Notepad. But other programs like Wordpad or Microsoft Word works as well.

After choosing the program you wish to open it with, making sure that it's a document editing program, hit OK.

The icons should now look like what's shown below.

Now here comes the fun part.

Since you can now open the files, we're going to start editing them. But you have to be very careful here because if you delete a big chunk of text Feral Heart will most likely not function the way it should. But then again that's just by guess lol I'm not willing to test it myself, so..
Let's continue.

As an example, I'm going to edit the Actions.
Start by opening the file.

We're going to edit where it says
caption [Insert Text Here]

Do NOT delete where it says caption. I'm 99.9% sure Feral Heart will die on you. And you will not be a happy floof.

So, for example. Instead of it saying "Actions and Emotes," I want it to say "Actions and Emotions."
I then would simply change where it said emotes and type Emotions.

If you were to open up Feral Heart, login, go ingame and open up the Actions window...

Tada! ;3 I guess I've been watching too much Merlin because I think I'm magical. Dunno 'bout you guys.

Lulz, I figured this out myself as well, I didn't even delete the caption and it all makes sense for me easily, I derped my FH so much xD it's nice of you to bring this topic up, so people can play around with their feral heart :3
