18+ Board?

Don't know if it's ever been discussed, but would there actually ever be a way to put a board strictly for 18+ people? I've seen quite a few other message boards with them and wondered if it could be a thing here.

But I do know the downfall of it as well, such as small kids getting in anyway and seeing things they probably shouldn't (although there won't be anything terrible like porn, blood/gore, things like that, just more adult stuff) and it would always need careful monitoring.

But I just thought it could be an idea to at least throw out there. ^^

I think as long as there is a "child-friendly" rule, I support the 18+ board idea.
Chicken Smoothie has an 18+ board on the site's forums. It's not strictly for adults (minors can post there too) but the board is more for general mature discussions, like mental illness, gender/sexual identity, etc.

I'm not completely sure if an 18+ board would be appropriate for a website like this, since it might be difficult to moderate and there'd be a higher possibly for things going a bit too far (as even if it wouldn't allow SUPER mature topics, it's possible some people might not realize that or start to push the limits), though I do think this is a good idea! I haven't seen it brought up many times in the past here.

If it were implemented, though, I have to agree with WolfQueen that I think it'd be nice to have it function similar to Chickensmoothie's 18+ board. It wouldn't have things that would go against Feralheart's rules and younger kids could be able to view it (there'd be a lot of warnings and such though, of course), but just a place that's geared towards adults or older teens and has a more serious tone would be nice.

This is an good idea, though! I'm interested to see what the staff would say about this.

I think it's a wonderful idea!

There are quite a number of FH users who are 18+ if not nearly there. It could be run similarly to Chicken Smoothie's 18+ board in that more mature topics may be shared and discussed. However, there would be a disclaimer of sorts (if you are under 18 be aware that some topics may not be suitable: Viewer Discretion is Advised) kinda thing haha And it could of course be well moderated.

I think this is a great idea, As I think some topics that older people would want to discuss would be great. But as Bloo said, There would need to be a disclaimer to younger players. Not anything like a threat, Just a tiny nudge that they need to be mature when they are rolling around if there was ever to be an 18+ topic.

i mean i too am agreeing with this

but since i'm not yet eighteen (and very proud of being young), and i am also as mature as one (i don't label myself as mature but apparently my therapist does), would i even be allowed in the board.

i'm fine with not, but i'm way much more mature than what people stereotype thirteen-year-olds to be. i know all about gore, non-asexual things, and stuff like that. and i'm mature about it.

would i even be able to look at the board.

it's just a question. sorry if i made it sound like something else (i can't tell tones in text or in voices. not even my own).

I'm guessing everyone would be allowed on the board, But before you 'enter' the topic section, I would think that it would give you a little notice before letting you into the 18+ boards.

Considering that FeralHeart is geared for a younger crowd, if there was an 18+ board, it would not exceed a certain level in inappropriateness. I'm sure those younger than 18 would be allowed to use the board as long as they are mature about what they post and comment on.


Also, my response to this topic: I think it might be a good idea but I'm not sure what kinds of more mature topics would really apply to FeralHeart, so I'm not sure if we'd get as much use out of it as we're thinking. But, that doesn't mean it isn't worth trying it out. I have a few concerns about it, including people thinking it is a safe ground to post inappropriately and cross the barrier between mature discussion and rated R discussion. As long as the board is able to be monitored, this wouldn't be an issue. But, considering that we are short staffed as it is, it'd be difficult for our current team to keep up with it. So, even if this were to happen it wouldn't be anytime soon.

Honestly, I think it's not a very solid idea. It'll take a lot of time & effort to just set up the new board and I'm not fully certain the staff should put their time around monitoring it. I believe the current staff team is busy with their own projects as well as the current contests and events we have. There's plenty of other places on the internet where you can talk and discuss about adult things. '^^

I personally think that with this kinda section open with just a very open like description just from the title itself(cause lets face it....half the people don't bother reading the warning labels) can be abused. Really the target audience for Feral Heart intended to be is for younger people, even tho oldies like me still love the place for what it is. I mean it's a great idea since it gives the more mature peeps around here more room for topics, but I generally don't believe Feral Heart is the place for that. If anything, that's what skype and discord be fore B). Also like mentioned already, more work for staff to monitor and with registration open and all im sure they will be busy.
