Deflecting rain
« on: March 28, 2011, 10:42:12 pm »
I think it's sorta odd, when you go in a cave or a den in map maker, that you get rained on :/
I suppose I could use my, IMAAAAGINATION, but I really think it should be deflected off the roof. Maybe even drip off trees and bounce off the models? What I'm saying is each individual raindrop should react differently to the other meshes.  Just an idea~

Sadly thats not possible with the Rain. The Rain and Snow are Particles. Those cant be codet that they do waht you want. If you would want each drop individual you must have to animate every single drop and then place every single drop by hand.

Well, in particle systems I've worked with before, there's Emitters, Attractors, and Destroyers.
The Destroyer will remove all particles in the designated area(s)

But then that was with a 2D game, I'm not sure how hard it would be to do in 3D, just an added dimension I guess...

Im working with particles, started with it in IT, but never heard about Attractors and Destroyers.
Yes, it would be a good idea if rain wouldn't just go through meshes, but I don't think we could do that. Maybe I'm wrong though.
