After reviewing community responses to the Feral Heart Staff evaluation form we noticed a common suggestion to implement a place for users to leave their suggestions for possible mods in training. You made it very clear to us that many of you want to have a say in picking future staff and this is just one of the many ways we plan on coming through with that request. Please take the time to look over this and share your thoughts :). All answers are anonymous and everyone is welcome to participate. We want to continue to make the best of your FH experience so help us with your feedback! :) We are very excited to see what you all have to say!

Keep in mind that this survey is timeless and will remain up forever but may be updated within need. If you have any additional questions or suggestions about the survey feel free to post them below! We ask that you remain respectful and constructive with your responses.

Thank you!

News Archives / Patch 1.17: Some things are better kept secret...
« on: July 24, 2017, 08:21:41 pm »

Until now!

With great excitement we present you with the FeralHeart patch 1.17! This isn’t the only big news though... Thanks to the assistance of an old community contact who wishes to remain anonymous, we have attained the source code. You read that right! For those who may be unaware or just joining the fun now, the game’s code hasn’t been modified since 2011. In the years since, the FeralHeart community has remained loyal, hopeful, and strong throughout the ups and downs, and so it is with great joy that we can finally reveal this great news with you all. As we take this next step forward in Feral Heart’s development we staff want to take a moment to thank all of those who faithfully stuck through with Feral Heart through out the years.

We want you to know that we'll be continuously updating and building Feral Heart not just for you but with you. Please let us know if you have any feedback and report bugs as you see them! Bug reports can be submitted HERE

Now with all this said let’s get down to the details!

A New Character Joins the FH Staff Roster:

I’m very pleased to announce that xSpirit has joined us as a programmer on Feral Heart. They’re a passionate and skilled coder and it’s been an immense pleasure working with them since they came aboard on the project. xSpirit is very determined to improve the game to better enhance the fun of the experience for everyone. Feral Heart is lucky to have them. Be sure to give them a nice warm welcome and plenty floofs for all their tireless efforts. If it wasn’t for all their hard work we wouldn’t have this lovely update to share with you all!

xSpirit’s Change Log for Patch 1.17 (With Rain Comes Rainbows):

  • Tail size slider option added: The ability was always there to modify your characters' size, but there remained one body part which was awfully lacking in size variation... The tail! From now on you can set the size of each character's tail making them more customizable. Small tail, or big tail, it's your choice!

  • Individual color selection option for markings, manes, & tufts added: Markings, manes, and tufts now have their own separate independent color selectors. Head, body, and tail markings no longer are confined to one color choice and manes can be an entirely separate color from tufts. Sparkle dogs & cats alike can now level up their colorfulness... Feel the rainbow taste the rainbow.

  • New Custom Emote slider added: Character expressions can now be even more personalized. With the emote slider you have the option to combine and contort your character’s face to all new fun expressions.

  • Pointer toggle option added: You can disable the pointer from within the settings menu. Clicking on the ground to move your character is now optional. No more characters getting the zoomies while tabbed! (To close the tracker you simply have to click on the player again.)
  • Feline tailless option fixed: Made the feline "Tailless" really tailless.
  • New default resolution & slight changes to resolution options: The default resolution has been changed to 1024 x 768 instead of 800 x 600 because c'mon we live in the age of big screens, we can have a bigger FH :)
  • Umibozu removed?

Road Map for the Foreseeable Future?:

We want you to know that this is just the beginning because there are a lot of bigger things on the way! In fact there are some “breadcrumbs" of a new upcoming unfinished WIP feature already in the game. Can you find them? (Tip: Join a party!) ;)

Lastly as excited as we all are for this upcoming progress just remember to be patient and mindful that all good things come in due time. The span between patches will vary greatly as these things are dependent on multiple variables such as our programmers’ availability, abilities, resources, time, etc. In an ideal world we’d love to roll out exciting new patches frequently but we must be practical and accept that this can’t always be done. Keep in mind that some patches will focus more on improving game stability and function and or tackling bugs etc. Thank you for your understanding <3

Updates of the year 2016 & early 2017

It's been quite awhile since we had some News Updates! So without further adieu we bring you a review of the year 2016 and of the current early 2017!

Board & Site Changes

Our server host and admin Razmirz has been hard at work. The forum has been updated with a new refreshing look. You can all look forward to more changes and new features to continue appearing in the near future as we continue to refine the site. We hope you'll enjoy what is in store!

Some of the notable fixes and additions:

- Most of the bugs with registration and account making have been resolved and so registration is back up after a temporary closure. You can read more about registration and how it works Here (Note: Make sure you link an active email with your account, if not then please update your email address.)

- Cleaned the site of numerous broken, defunct, and or improperly activated accounts.

- E-mails and usernames can now be changed/edited.

- Removed the ability to have problematic symbols in usernames.

- Fixed the forgotten password system.

- The login page for the game has a lower refresh time now. It only needs one refresh every hour.

- The Preset Sync has been updated and simplified to an easier and more practical version. You can download, and read about it HERE

(Please note that since the site is sill a work in progress there may be some kinks that still have to be worked out. If you encounter any troubles don't feel too shy to note the issue to a member of the staff to bring it to our attention)

Game Changes

In June of 2016 we released a new "patch" for the game. There has been many mixed opinions surrounding this update and we staff have taken note of all of your feelings regarding such. We do have plans to bring more updates in the near future, and although we can not guarantee anything specific as of yet I promise you that the entire staff will work to bring more of what the community wants, this is a patch for the Community afterall! :)

With that being said I would like to direct you all to our latest addition to the forum boards:

The Feral Heart Content Creators Board HERE

For the first time ever we are directly reaching out to the community to offer you all a chance to be involved with future patch content. That's right your work may end up in the public game for all the community to enjoy! If you're interested in potentially being selected for this process or have any questions feel free to look HERE

Events & kewl sturf

We've managed to have quite a few successful movie nights with the community over the last couple of months. It's always great to kick back and enjoy a film with the community, especially when we get to introduce the favorite pass time to newer players in the community. If you're interested in more information about this or just want to know when next movie night is going to be, keep your eyes open on this thread here.

Let's have a whole-hearted congratulations to all our 2016 Members of the Season These folks were voted by the community to be the most deserving of the MOTS title, and we can't help but agree! Each of them have fabulous attitudes, and we hope they'll continue to spend time bringing their bright smiles and positive attitudes to the FH community. Congratulations as well to all the current Spring Season nominees! Be sure to keep an eye on them and cast your own nominations for this season's MOTS if you haven't already HERE

Forum Discussion / FH FAQ

If Feral Heart had one large FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) thread with various segments what do you all think you'd like to see there? (Specific questions I mean) I'm just curious.

Forum Discussion / The FH is Dying Bandwagon
« on: January 16, 2017, 10:22:39 am »
So here's just an interesting thing I noticed.

Some people really like to focus on the number of players online and use this as a judge of how "alive" or "dead" the game is...

Most understand however that this isn't an accurate way to judge the communities livelihood due to how often the number of people online fluctuates given what time of day or year it is.

Either way many like saying that in earlier years the game had soo many more people online than these days but fail to realize that that isn't actually true. Having been around since this game's earlier days I've seen the population trends.

So here's a clip of the counter from 2011 as seen in an old preset tutorial video I made on an old cringey YouTube channel:

As you can see it reads something like 415 people were online at the time... mind you that I recorded that tutorial during the so called busy hours of FH.

Then just recently I screenshot this image of the counter this year as of January 2017

The counter reads 437 people online... xD

Not much has changed on average. Sure there were days that were busier than that back then but even still at 415 people online no one was running around saying the game was dying.

Point in all this really is that I believe people focus too much on the numerical side of the game rather than just playing. People put this seed of "the game is dying" and then that negativity is all that manifests itself. I think we should focus less on quantity and more on the quality of our relationships with those who are online...a game isn't dead until there's 0 people online and as long as the server/site/game is managed and up that will never happen xD

Idk I just find all this quite so silly given how long I've been around here.

While yes sometimes there has been more users online on various occasions nothing has gone to drastically different since then. I just think people like grossly exaggerating things.

So just for fun...

If you could swap fursonas/characters for a day with another user's which user would you swap with and which character of theirs would you pick and why?

I figured this thread could be a cool way for others to get to know each others characters :D

When it comes to me I feel like there are so many peoples' characters I would probably want to switch with so I may post a few times on here (You're all welcome to do so as well) xD My first thought was RoseTheFoxes's character Enoki. I've always been intrigued by his design, the whole half dragon lion thing seems soo cool :D Plus since he seems to be part of one of their very whimsical roleplays so I imagine he's got a rich lore with an interesting background.... Plus he's magical? Can't beat that. Overall awesomely designed character :3

Which is your favorite and why?

Personally I love French toast the most because it's squishy and absorbs the syrup the best. After that though I like waffles cause they're a perfect mix of squishy and crunchy. Waffles also have those little pockets that gather the syrup. Mmmm

How about you guys?

Also do you like them out the box or from scratch ;D lol
