D': A friend and I were having this exact same problem. Luckily I didn't lose any major characters, but my friend lost her main rp char... man I hope this gets fixed soon ;-;

This exact thing keeps happening with me with Watermill. I didn't download the new maps though.
I lost 2 main charries and had to clone them. I really hope it is fixed soon.

If you want your charries back, uninstall the game. Re-install it. DO NOT re-install the map pack. Now, log on to your stuck ones. You *Should* Come up in a black mess of nothing, but you have the menus 'n stuff. Open the home menu and hit Reset home. Now go home. Not sure if it'll work, but might aswell try. (If this has been said already, leo is sorry.)
