How do I get a preset to have a fur texture?

I need a little help adding a fur texture to my preset so it doesnt look so fake looking. I am using GIMP and really I don't know how to navigate it to well. I have fur texture images that I download on here for ingame use so my Feral Hearts wolves have realistic type fur. I just want the same for my preset... I hope someone here has patience to show me please  ??? I will appreciate it so much thanks
