Game Discussion / Re: Are you good at presets or not?
« on: December 16, 2013, 12:22:49 pm »
I tell myself I'll finally get into preset-making. I know at least how to make basic ones. I've messed around with making pelts before, but I've never actually put them in my game. I usually end up forgetting about any if I ever actually work on them. |'D

Game Discussion / Re: KOVU: Might Come Back!
« on: November 26, 2013, 12:27:13 am »
He's...probably not coming back, tbh. Although I've never actually known him, I know multiple people who have. He doesn't care about the game. If he did, he'd return on his own.

I feel like this thread is going to start an argument one way or another, even if that's far from the intentions.

Game Discussion / Re: Is Always Winning Really That Important?
« on: November 14, 2013, 12:47:42 pm »
I really don't prefer roleplaying with people who do this. Not only because they probably won't understand the idea of a fair battle ("I'm undefeated! So I /can/ block that hit, but you can't block mine!) They're...just kind of dull to roleplay with, I guess. People obsess over making big, bad, scary characters instead of real, nicely developed characters.

Maybe it's just the fact that I tend to hide out in mapped roleplays that I find this behavior so annoying? It reminds me of that Spongebob episode where he gets those gigantic fake muscles and can't actually do anything useful with them.

Game Discussion / Re: A slight surge in evil and 'Bad guy' RolePlay?
« on: November 14, 2013, 12:36:14 pm »
I feel like shadier groups are harder to pull off well, but they're usually more fun to roleplay in. Dark roleplays attract people. No idea why, they just do. A lot of people take making a dark roleplay, though, for making an ultra-cliched, cannibalistic, roguish, grimdark evil group. Which is always a very boring group to be in, unless you're a miracle worker, or unless you work  towards developing the pack into that instead of starting off as it.

I've always noticed it revolves heavily around battling, though? Which makes sense, but it seems like a waste of possible fun to me. When I had a mapless pack, we got approached one time by a much larger group, who gave us promptly no warning before trying to roleplay ruthlessly slaughtering our pack (which had just started that day.) That's kind of ridiculous. And incredibly rude. They seeemed annoyed that we wouldn't roleplay with them, even though they didn't really ask at all.

It just isn't fun to me when you make the whole thing about bloodshed. It isn't that realistic, and it won't keep interest for that long. I do love the idea of somebody making a "good" pack with full intentions to develop it the opposite direction. Development is fun. Constantly being in a slaughterfest is not.

Game Discussion / Re: Excuse you?
« on: November 12, 2013, 12:13:15 am »
Oh God, I've seen it a ton whenever I'm in a mapped roleplay and we have to go to recruit at the Cape Portal. There's an unsettling frequency of people being rude to each other on FeralHeart for no reason other than being rude. I know that's a normal internet thing; the internet is full of people who have fun ruining the days of others. But I was kind of hoping FH would be a break away from that attitude. Alas, it's gradually seeping in.

It's kind of like a disease to me. It's a contagious attitude, and it kind of sucks that a lot of newbies seem to be the first ones who have to deal with it; because then they either adopt the arrogant attitude themselves, or they're scared away from the game. Trolling isn't funny. It makes you look immature and like a generally unpleasant person. I mean, little jokes are fine?? but i've seen people get made fun of on this game for very petty reasons, and a lot of nasty fights break out because someone had to say something mean in local.

There's also a huge disrespect to the mods on here. Which weirds me out, since I came to FH from another community with a userbase that's vastly different. I've been a member of the staff on a game/site vaguely similar to FH. Let me tell you; With most communities like these, those moderating are doing it by volunteer. They don't get paid or anything. They take the time out of their day to answer reports, send out messages, warnings, and bans, mingle with the community, and help any confused members out. Most probably have jobs or school to worry about on top of all of that. They do all of this for the normal userbase, to make their time on the game/site a nicer place, and they do it because they want to help out. That's how staff teams work. They stress and tire themselves out so that you'll have a better time. And, from personal experience, it feels like a huge slap in the face when it seems like a startling amount of people aren't grateful whatsoever and decide to make your day even harder.

That's just speaking from what I know from another game, not sure how the FH staff team works. But yeah. Being a moderator of anything is stressful, and it seems like a lot of the Feralheart community doesn't understand that. I'm not saying we should all kiss up to the mods, I just wish people on this game would respect them for their efforts a little more.

I agree totally with Misha. Newbies are still an equal part of the game. Attitudes are deathly contagious. So being nice and helping them out when they need it will likely leave a better impression on them than just turning your head the other direction. We need to start making a collective effort to be friendlier, so that the less pleasant members on FH don't blot out the nice parts of the game. Apologies for the long winded reply.

Game Discussion / Re: Which character model looks more male or female?
« on: November 11, 2013, 11:45:31 pm »
Yeaaah, neutral. I've found ways to make both look either pretty masculine or pretty feminine. It seems like it has a lot to do with what facial expressions and what weights/sizes you use with your character.

Game Discussion / Re: Wolves with cat tails? O-o
« on: November 01, 2013, 02:47:41 am »
People use it for various reasons, I guess. I've seen canines with "spear" tails that use the cat tail to show how thin the tail is. A few of my characters even had them.

I don't use them because they look off on the canine model to me, probably because they're cat tails.

Game Discussion / Re: How Long Have You Been On FH?
« on: October 07, 2013, 10:44:59 pm »
I forgot. I'm pretty sure I made an account when I was around eleven, hung around in Bonfire being an idiot for about three days, then forgot about the game entirely. I came back last summer (2012) and continued playing on that account until I decided I really disliked the account and made a new one for a cleaner slate, this one. That was around fall last year.

So...actively, on this account, I'm pretty sure I've been here for nearly a year -u- Sometimes I've thought about leaving the game, but I'd probably just end up dragging myself back. If I hadn't found the friends on this game that I did, though, I probably wouldn't stick around anymore.

Game Discussion / Re: Hyper-Realistic Roleplays
« on: September 10, 2013, 12:03:18 am »
I'd guess the reason why it's so uncommon as a type of roleplay is because people like being able to connect with characters. We personify them so that they're easier to relate to, and easier to get emotions, ideas, and concepts out of, since emotions and human-like actions and traits are what drive storylines a lot of the time (revenge, love, hate, betrayal, jealousy, the lust for power, greed...etc etc.) Of course, a lot of those are still very possible to accomplish without removing any realism at all, but it feels a lot more limited and difficult, I guess. My character, Lars, wouldn't be the same character anymore just by removing his ability to think and talk like a human would. Personifying it makes it easier to connect and relate to, because we're human.

The idea sounds really interesting, though. I like it ;u;
