MAPS OF MINE:

Desolate Coast (you're here)

Heart of Africa (cave habitat)

Neto's Island (island/underwater habitat)

Sibeta's Meadow (mountains/forest/meadow habitat)

all my maps are for public use.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those of you who were aware of the problem I was having with a hostile map-file beggar, this situation has been resolved.  DeviantArt administrators notified me of having given this person a harsh warning that if this behavior was ever done again, they would be permanently banned.  Thank you everyone for your support ^^
Before you take a look at my map, I would highly appreciate it if you read this letter:
Not too long ago, I had a rather nasty incident with one of the FeralHeart players over my custom map, Desolate Coast.  Now that I'm looking back on it, it was rather clear from the start that all she had wanted was to make a map similar to mine without actually lifting a finger to make her own world.
This person first introduced herself to me by briefly commenting on my map before immediately asking for the sky file that I had created to go along with it.  Not seeing the seriousness in sharing a sky, I emailed said file to her on the condition that she would give me credit.... for now, let's just call her Littletroubles.
Over a week later, Littletroubles returned to the same page, now asking if she could have my map folder with all its raw material, including the height map for Desolate Coast.
Now, those of you who have read the FeralHeart guide would have noticed this particular passage:
"What I do is go into the Watermill map folder and 'copy' the heightmap (The grey picture) and rename it. Be sure to name it 'MapnameTerrain' (Ex: SuferiaTerrain) This way you have it already preset to the correct size and format without having to make a new file. (DON'T steal anybody else's height-maps!)
Open this newly created map in Gimp, or Photoshop. This is where you edit the map and make it your own.
Grab the paintbrush tool and make it large. COMPLETELY erase the map that is already there by covering it over with black or a middle shade of gray. If you don't.... people have ways of finding out; and then things get ugly. Make sure every map is 100% your own!"
-The FeralHeart Staff
Now, that statement was obviously put there for a reason; people who put a lot of work into making a unique world for others to explore, would naturally be upset seeing clones of their creation.
With this in mind I politely declined Trouble's request to have my map folder.
Clearly upset by this, she resorted to asking for only my height map.  Again, I refused, earning only more very determined nagging for a copy of my map.  I continued to refuse, instead offering to still give my object files and even make a height map of a slightly different make-up that Littletroubles could enjoy instead.
She seemed to have trouble making her points clear.  Her response consisted of asking why it was such a big deal for her to have my height map, and also talking about all the things she would like to see in a custom map.  Mistaking this for a list of the things she would like to see in the height map that I was offering to make her, I responded as calmly as I could that I didn't appreciate her tone or attitude or the way that she had driven me to this point, and that with college classes fast approaching again I simply wouldn't have the time to make a map for Littletroubles in the first place.
Littletroubles responded first by telling me that my final post was too long for her to read before making an even longer reply.  She then went into long detail about how inconsiderate I was to be selfishly keeping my files to myself instead of sharing like a good FeralHeart member.  I found this incredibly bold of her, considering that the height map and mask were creations of mine and never meant for other people to have in the first place.
I'll have to admit that I was rather impatient at this point, so after telling Littletroubles in three sentences to fix her grammar, I blocked her from harrassing me further.
Littletroubles then reacted by creating a new account and responding to me.  This time, the words were malicious.  After being cursed out very thorougly, she parted ways with a threat; she would spread the word that I was a terrible person and that all my maps were fake, also stating that she would not give credit to the sky file I had given her a week ago.  I highly doubted she held such power, but when I went on the FeralHeart forum to see that my healthy collection of karma had been pulled down into the negatives, I knew I needed to speak out.
I have written this journal not so that I can have a "clean reputation" or to have an all out war, or to get back any karma points because that is not what I care about.  If I wanted a war, I would have exposed this person's name just the way that they are tainting mine right now.
What matters to me most is that people continue to enjoy my maps; they were never made for selfish use, and each one was made with the hopes of contributing to the FeralHeart community by sharing worlds with others.  Never would I have thought that this simple act of friendliness toward the FH community would actually not be enough to some people, or that simple refusal to give  up the originality of my worlds would cause a person to believe that spreading rumors about others is the noble way to go.
Please, all FeralHeart artists, whether you are painters or preset-makers or map-makers, never let anyone make you think that you are wrong to be protective over things you spent tender love and care into making.  Your art is your own, whether on paper, a photoshop file, or a three-dimensional map file.
That is basically all I have to say on this topic.  You are more than welcome to see the actual discussion between me and "troubles" in my Desolate Coast deviantart submission.  The entire conversation should be in the earlier comments.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After some thought, I have decided to release this person's deviantart names because of the potential threat that she is to other people who enjoy making and sharing maps.  The two things that I will always fight for are artists' rights and people being bullied, and if there is one thing I have learned about bullies, it's that protecting their name never solved anything.

Map-makers must be aware of ~Umdreon and  her secondary account, ~L-ucario  .  If she asks to borrow any of your files, refuse it.  Don't be afraid of her or afraid to stand up for what belongs to you.  People can say all they want about you, but they can never change who you are or the brilliant talents that you own.  People who attack others mercilessly for not getting what they want are weak.  They expect other artists to make up for their own lack of work-ethic and artistic motivation.  They will hide like a coward behind thrown out insults like "b****", "retard",  "whore," "piece of sh**," or the very popular "go f*** yourself."  But when it comes to proving themselves worthy to be given something so precious as a world you spent hours, even days or weeks creating, they'll fall silent because they know that they deserve nothing of the sort.

Stand up for your art, and stand up for yourself.

The fourth of my terrain-creations, Desolate Coast is a map of gloom, doom, and more gloom.  It is heavily based off of the eerie beach that was part of the "World That Never Was," a place featured in the popular game "Kingdom Hearts."

I would have named it so, but considering that the map only represents the beach from said world, I figured it should just have a name of its own.

And so, I present to you...

THE MAP OF FANTARD DOOM.

With custom music!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You first arrive to Desolate Coast on a tiny little island.
Worried about getting lost?  Don't worry, that's what the giant crystal behind the portal is for.
Water's a little... murky......
The land's pretty somber too, but it's a little more fun to look at, not to mention explore.
Also, those high mountains in the back?  They make great perches for winged charris.
Ooo, the sky doesn't look half-bad at night...
A shot of the tall, twisted arches that stretch across the coast.
Did I mention that some of these are climbable?
Oh hey, it's Sunrise!
... Wow, this place is a drag even in the day time.  Let's just continue exploring....
There are 10 dens all around the map in total.  As you can see, shelter makes Whisper a happy puppy.
Plenty of soft, squishy sand to walk on.
Hmm, sunset seems to be approaching.  Let's watch it fade away.
Extra Info
IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS HEARING THE MUSIC:::
These directions were in the readme, but for some reason people just keep looking it over xD
a.  First, make sure that you put all three mp3 files into the FeralHeart music folder.
b.  Close out.
c.  Reopen the FeralHeart folder but instead of going anywhere, just scroll down.  You should find a "music.cfg" file, this should be able to be opened with Wordpad.
d.  Once you've opened up the file, paste this at the bottom of the list:
[KHplaylist]
media/music/OtherKHsong.mp3
media/music/OtherPromiseKH.mp3
media/music/KHsong2.mp3
e.  Save the file and exit, and restart FeralHeart if you have it opened.  You should be able to hear the music now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1.  I only have default meshes, but it stands to reason that by roleplay standards, a weird place should have at least a few weird little creatures lurking around as potential prey.  There have been rumors of mutant rabbits.  *shrug*

2.  This map is for PUBLIC USE.  This means you can use it for any purpose whatsoever even if it's not KingdomHearts related!

3.  No fighting for territory OOC please, this was meant for everyone to enjoy. Your characters, however, can have battles with each other as long as you do so responsibly (see rule 5)

4.  If someone was already roleplaying in a certain area before you and your friends came, please be polite and allow them to finish their rp before you use that area for yourself.

5.  Be respectful to others, this means no harrasing, insulting, or powerplaying.  Also try to keep swearing/cussing mild, if you really feel that you must swear at all.

Finished Maps / [1.09]The Holy Forests (cave habitat, public)

EDIT:::  New optional update link for those of you with FH+.

MAPS OF MINE:

Desolate Coast

Heart of Africa (you're here)

Neto's Island (island/underwater habitat)

Sibeta's Meadow (mountains/forest/meadow habitat)

all my maps are for public use.

First of all, I should say that for those of you who were aware of the problem I was having with a hostile map-file beggar, this situation has been resolved.  DeviantArt administrators notified me of having given this person a harsh warning that if this behavior was ever done again, they would be permanently banned.  Thank you everyone for your support ^^

And now onto the more fun information;  The Holy Forest has been decked out with brand new decorations as well as a music group for itself, and now has an updated exports set, so make sure to redownload!

One of the major updates; no more ugly yellow grass terrain!  And more flowers!

The roofs are lit for your homely convenience~

What's this, a new altar-thingy?

.... Hey, yeah, a new altar thingy!  It must have been created by the ancient creatures that lived here.  Question is, is it a tribute to a home they once had before?  Or a clue as to where they might have gone...

Room entrances now have pillars.

All those yucky squishy mushrooms were removed from the desert room, and in the savanna room only the mushrooms in the water have survived.  >D

And we can't forget the new music files!  In the new download you will be receiving directions on where to place the mp3 files and how to hear the music.  Hope you enjoy the updates!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Holy Forest, nicknamed by some as "The Heart of Africa" for the location that it was discovered, is a map most suited for underground/cave-dwelling species.  It's not exactly the biggest (being 10,000 wide) but I'd like to think that it's entertaining enough.  It is yet another map of mine that suggests the influence of an ancient civilization (perhaps one that cared for the balance of Africa's various biomes/regions), and has three large chambers each representing a tropical biome.
_____________________________________
You first enter the caverns to find yourself in an enclosed 'room' of sorts.
Don't worry; it's supposed to seem like a dead end.  Maybe you should peek through those bushes...
Depending on which path you took, the first 'chamber resembles that of a desert.
These odd giant crystals grow from the ceiling, their light powerful enough to sustain plant-life.  However, mushrooms also make an unwelcomed appearance.  Ah, the typical characteristics of underground growth....
The second biome-chamber resembles a savannah.
The Rainforest Chamber:
In each of these biomes, you might notice a room sealed off by foilage.
 If you're not too squeamish about swimming in water, why don't you take a look inside?
Considering that the pools in each biome chamber seem to be feeding off from this one room, I'm curious as to where all the water's coming fr-
Oh, I get it.... THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT LOL.
A full view on the secret center room.  Thought to have served both as a temple and burial grounds of sorts.  It has been discovered that while the living can walk on the butterfly's crystal body unharmed, dead creatures placed on these crystals mysteriously dissolve into light, their spirits seemingly carried by the butterfly angel's wings.
A full view on the map itself.
Rules
1.  If someone was already roleplaying in a certain area before you and your friends came, please be polite and allow them to finish their rp before you use that area for yourself.  Nonetheless, each of the rooms are pretty big for more than one pack/pride to be in there at a time.
2.  Be respectful to others, this means no harrasing, insulting, or powerplaying.  Also try to keep swearing/cussing mild, if you really feel that you must swear at all.
3.   I only have default meshes, but it stands to reason that the caves should have a ton of little cavern creatures to hunt.  By roleplay terms your characters should have a real nice supply of prey to go around!
Many miles beyond the Cape of Distant worlds lies a mysterious, abandoned island that only the strongest of heart and mind can reach.  It remained unknown to the animals of FeralHeart for thousands of years, but was rediscovered by the aquatic feline Neto, who has since then called the land home.  However, he remains peaceful, allowing all who desire to see the island for themselves free passage.
Just remember:  Full of life and mystery, this island is no ordinary place...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You first arrive near a fountain surrounded by comfy, natural bedding.

Speaking of said fountain, you should take special note of it; it's the only fresh-water source in this map, and your character might be thirsty after making the journey here!

The crystal in the mysterious floating bowl is thought to have some purifying purpose, and is evidence that the creatures who used to live here must have been very advanced in their intelligence and insight.

In one corner of the island is a cluster of seven dens.

Each den appears to have a small tree grown inside.  They have been dubbed 'cave trees' in the meantime for their odd capability to survive with little sunlight.  Clearly, these ancient people greatly valued the island's plant-life.

Also in each cave is a tiny crystal, perhaps once used as night lamps.

Hungry?  The circular garden in the middle of the den cluster grows plenty of plants, all edible and, strangely enough, able to survive underwater as well.... they are very hardy, obvious by the fact that they have continued to grow even when no one was left to care for the garden... until now, that is.

There is also a fun little formation of rocks on the island.  Younger characters may enjoy it more than the adults.

In the distance, you can spot some sea-life peeking from the water's surface.

I know what you're thinking; there's not much to this place at all besides the lousy island!  What's the point?

Well, perhaps you should take a look below sea level.....

A lovely population of coral reefs....

And..... what's this?

Artificial reefs for the plant life?!  Wow... these guys really cared about their ecosystem.....

An inactive volcano underwater for your dare-deviling convenience.

Some nice seaweeds of various shapes and sizes to go around.  Like the plants in the island garden, these are just as edible.

Oh, and here's the giant coral reef.

Well, that seems to be the end of it.  I hope you enj- .... wait a moment.

Is it just me or does something seem to be... glowing?

Let's swim around to the front of the reef...

In fact, why don't we take a closer look?

What a peculiar place... was it perhaps some sort of temple for the civilization that used to live here?  Crystals seem to be very abundant in the smaller cave within.

The top of the cave can also serve as a nice little 'indoor island' within the larger cave.

Extra Info

1.  I only have default meshes, but it stands to reason that the abundant plant-life must attract a wide variety of sea creatures.  By roleplay terms your characters should have a real nice supply of prey to go around, let's just hope they can fish!

2.  In case you're curious, the 'ancient people' who use to inhabit this island were not humans or aliens.  In my world, they were the feline-like creatures of Impressive Title.  You have to admit, while IT's graphics weren't more advanced than that of FeralHeart's, its species certainly was.  With healing powers, items, and the ability to tame lesser animals, I could safely say that the creatures of Impressive Title surpassed today's felines and canines by a longshot.

Rules

1.  No fighting for territory.  Seriously guys, it's a little island in the middle of nowhere.  You really think you should be claiming space? xD

2.  If someone was already roleplaying in a certain area before you and your friends came, please be polite and allow them to finish their rp before you use that area for yourself.

3.  Be respectful to others, this means no harrasing, insulting, or powerplaying.  Also try to keep swearing/cussing mild, if you really feel that you must swear at all.

4.  Neto's pretty much the only character of mine that you're likely to meet in there.  He is a clouded leopard with aquatic abilities and an over-confident attitude.

Game Suggestions & Ideas / The problem with tribal markings...
« on: April 29, 2011, 02:28:56 am »
This has been bugging me for a while ^^;

Now, we know that a collar/chains marking, as well as tribal markings such as the swirl pattern, have been made for the FeralHeart game, including the very interesting marking 'scars' which adds even more realism to a feral animal.  The problem?

Only lions/completely plain characters can use these markings.

Beautiful marked characters such as tigers, leopards, jaguars, ocelots, foxes, and any other animals that require a certain marking to be what they are, are simultaneously denied having tribal swirls or realistic scars.  While FeralHeart is a wonderful game, I can't help but to see this particular part of it a bit.... unfair.

My suggestion is to separate the tribal markings and scars into a secondary marking category of its own, that would cover any natural markings.  Layers would be a nice way of getting this done.

Of course, I'm also aware of the fact that Kov wants to keep the game as lag free as possible, but... would characters having a second layer cause much lag?  If not....

Characters / Sky Lily's Characters
« on: March 16, 2011, 02:13:22 am »
Hey, everyone!  Sky here.   This topic will house all of my FeralHeart characters, whether fully developed or simply roleplay 'stand-ins.'  As I continue to develop minor characters into major characters and/or create more characters, this list will constantly be updated.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

A.  [First Post]  Major Characters

B.  [Second Post]  Minor Characters

C.  [Third Post]  Lesser Minor Characters

*notice:  Sibeta, Marsh, and Cinder are not native to the FeralHeart universe.  While Sibeta arrived to FeralHeart through an accidental portal, Cinder's roleplay takes place in a real island setting and Marsh lives in a post-apocalyptic roleplay setting.

*All Major Characters either serve a major purpose or are in long-term roleplays.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MAJOR CHARACTERS
Once a fierce shape-shifting unicorn, Sibeta was trapped in her secondary wolf's body after being pulled into the FeralHeart universe.  She is not a carnivore and prefers to dine on leaves, fruits, and berries, but despite such a humble diet she remains perfectly capable of defending herself against hostile strangers.
Sibeta is generally a loner, but she doesn't mind making friends and can be a very loyal and protective character.  She does still retain abilities that belonged to her unicorn form, such as healing wounds, curing poison, and growing plant-life.
________________
She is the silent angel that travels FeralHeart's caves, guiding the living who pass through her home (a.k.a noobs <3), and guarding the precious crystals of Ficho Tunnel from those who would use their power for evil.
She was the one chosen among her ancient people to remain behind when her kind died out, to forever watch over the beautiful caves of this world.  She occasionally ventures outside to Fluorite Plains, to keep watch over the crystals there as well.
She does not usually speak to others, unless by some miracle, a passerby may be able to see her shimmering form and talk to her.  Then, she is more than happy to converse.
She has no name, for after she became a guardian, there was no need for one.  However, you may call her by anything you deem worthy to use, if you'd like.
The Cave Ghost is also close friends with the shadow ghost, Whisper (see Minor characters)
__________
He's rainbow.  And full of rainbowness and sparkles.  Basically the most harmless, fun-loving, non-power-playing Sparkledog that you'll ever meet.  xD It's not too obvious here, but he does in fact have a rainbow-colored tail and the color wheel on the back of his ears.
.... He also may or may not have a crush on Vera.
_________
A rather serious she-coyote with a deep-seeded prejudice toward unnaturally colored animals and who prefers to look on the realistic side of things.  She is consistently annoyed by Rainbow Sheltie, and it would take an army for her to admit that she actually doesn't mind the company.
________________
Cinder
Name:  Cinder
Gender:  Female
Roleplay:  Foxes of Loch Leven
Rank:  Warrior Trainee
Subspecies:  Although she considers herself a swift fox, Cinder's odd dark legs and color-conflicted tail suggests that one of her grandparents was most likely a red fox.
To sum it up in one word, Cinder is, well... rather quirky. Full of energy and never in one spot for very long, she is possibly the ultimate stereotypical shame for swift foxes world-wide, but she makes up for this with her gentle heart and caring personality. She's devoted to her friends and hates seeing them downcast, often trying to cheer them up with her odd sense of humor.
Cinder is about a year and a half old, but despite this she remains in a trainee rank due to her severe lack of battle-skills. The vixen had been orphaned from an early age and as a result had no one to teach her proper survival skills  until she had stumbled upon
the foxes of Loch Leven as a yearling. Ever since the coven accepted her into their home, Cinder has been eternally grateful for their kindness and repays them by training to be the best warrior she can. As far as Cinder is concerned, protecting her coven from danger is the least she could do.
________
Fierce and almost always ready for battle, Glider (short for Glideras) is an odd species of mammal dragon.  He is brother to Flight, the dragoness.
_________
(note:  If you ever happen to spot Rider with wings, it is only to signify that Glider is carrying him IC.  Rider himself is NOT a flying character.)
Formerly a devoted and well-loved pet to Glider, Rider is now seen by the dragon as a close respected friend.  He has a calm and thoughtful nature, but can be courageous when given the chance.
Once, long ago as it was, canines were not as intelligent and clever as felines.  Cats were the only creatures of this vast impressive world (hinthint) to have superiority to other animals.  They hunted the hoofed grazers of the plains and kept their more favored creatures as simple pets.  Canines were particularly popular among the intelligent felines, who preferred to keep smaller and more easily-managed foxes as their pets and companions.
However, none more loved the canines than the Dragons.
The feline-like dragons of the impressive world enjoyed working with domesticated canines, not only for their conveniences, but for the wild cleverness and majesty that canines held, making them the perfect creature for a dragon to call their own.  They used the larger breeds, such as wolves, to help carry supplies and to aid in taking down prey, while the smaller foxes and coyotes made enjoyable companions for journeys and the like, as dragons loved to roam.  Their very presence gave their pets the same longevity as their owners, and so dragons and their canine companions often led very long and happy lives.
Glider had found the little fennec fox cub alone in a large savannah, and had quickly taken him in as a pet.  He found that the tiny fox enjoyed riding on his back, whether on land or in the air, and soon came to call his large-eared companion the affectionate name, "ShoulderRider."
However, dragons have been known to cause strange things simply by what they are, and over the centuries, the felines began to see an odd, and frightening, change in the canines that the dragons kept.  They were growing more intelligent, more thoughtful and strategic in their ways...
And some were learning to speak.
ShoulderRider was one of these, and Glider found himself delighted in his "pet's" growing awareness of the world.
However, while the dragons were reveling in the new-found intelligence of their friends, the felines were outraged.  After having been the only superior beings in this world for so long, they were afraid to have to deal with another race as clever as they.  Fueled by hate and fear, they began to unleash attacks on the canines.  And, fueled by anger, the canines and their former dragon-masters fought back.  War soon broke out between the creatures, and as small as he was, ShoulderRider was adamant on joining in.  Both he and Glider were part of those who fought for the freedom of canines, and it was during this time that their friendship truly deepened.
The war was grueling and it lasted for many moons, but in the end it was the felines who were forced to surrender.  Thus, the earth was no longer a place of Impressive order, but one filled with Feral hearts and revolutionary natures.
The scars between the three races since faded away, albeit slowly.  To this day grudges are still held between the felines and canines.
However, Glider and ShoulderRider have remained friends throughout the ages, although the fennec fox has now adopted the more civilized name, "Rider."
