The problem with tribal markings...
« on: April 29, 2011, 02:28:56 am »
This has been bugging me for a while ^^;

Now, we know that a collar/chains marking, as well as tribal markings such as the swirl pattern, have been made for the FeralHeart game, including the very interesting marking 'scars' which adds even more realism to a feral animal.  The problem?

Only lions/completely plain characters can use these markings.

Beautiful marked characters such as tigers, leopards, jaguars, ocelots, foxes, and any other animals that require a certain marking to be what they are, are simultaneously denied having tribal swirls or realistic scars.  While FeralHeart is a wonderful game, I can't help but to see this particular part of it a bit.... unfair.

My suggestion is to separate the tribal markings and scars into a secondary marking category of its own, that would cover any natural markings.  Layers would be a nice way of getting this done.

Of course, I'm also aware of the fact that Kov wants to keep the game as lag free as possible, but... would characters having a second layer cause much lag?  If not....

Ah I see what you mean

Marking Layers.

Layer 1 = Animal Print/Texture ( Tiger, Marble, Cheeta etc)
Layer 2 = Markings ( as in Tatoos, Scars, Tribal marks on top)

This is 100% needed in customization if you ask me >.> good reason to add layering aswell

I love this.  People worry that adding layers would cause a lot more "Sparkledogs" and such then there are now, but this kind of limits it as well as adds more customization. I love this idea. C:

I agree with you. Its also frustrating when you want to have, say leg markings and a body marking at the same time. Like socks AND a dorsal fin. Layering would only give you more customization!

100% agree.

Yes, we should be able to have different layers, especially with scars and such.

Brilliant idea.

Layers would be amazing. C: 100% agree. It would be awesome to use two of my favorite markings, and such. ;)

Ofcourse, those who like to use markings should be able to have several ones if it doesn't cause too much problems. But since we are talking about the markings. What about having a setting that also let you choose the opacity of the markings? That would probably let people give kewl looks to their chars.
