Presets & Markings Tutorials / Preset Contouring
« on: January 18, 2016, 10:47:35 pm »
Some of you may be familiar with the term "contouring" when it comes to drawing, sculpting, or even doing makeup. When it comes to drawing/doing makeup, it basically means adding shades to outline specific details. It can even be used while making presets, which is what I'll be showing you how to do in this tutorial.
(NOTE: This is for people who already have the basics of preset-making down.)

1. Begin with a preset (It can be colored or not; it wouldn't really matter either way.):

2. Make a new layer for your shading (it can be above or below the fur texture, just as long as it isn't below the actual colors). Using a brush with low opacity and a color that stands out compared to the rest of your preset (ex: red), color the following areas:

3. Lock the layer and color it all grey:

4. Unlock the layer, set the mode to "multiply", and then blur/blend around the edges of it. It should now look similar to this:

5. Create a new layer over the shades one and draw out the following:

6. Repeat the steps from before; then merge the new layer to the other shades one (this just saves space).

7. To add even more depth to your preset, outline the cheekbone and around the muzzle like so:

8. After repeating the same steps from before, your preset should now look like this:

I hope that this was helpful to my fellow preset-makers, and will come in handy in the future.

Introduction / Back from the dead

My computer finally works again, and I'm back. I'll actually be in-game from now on.

Leaving / BACK
« on: November 22, 2015, 07:00:00 pm »
My computer has a huge issue in which I can no longer go on the Internet on it anymore, so until I can either fix it or get a new one I'll be on hiatus. I'm using my phone to type this right now. Hopefully I'll get it fixed soon so that I can finally play this game again, and be able to see this wonderful community once more.

If anyone for some reason needs to contact me, or if one of you just wants to still be able to talk, my kik is Tullile.

That's all for now, but I'll upload more when I get the chance.

Presets & Markings Tutorials / Preset Hue
« on: October 28, 2015, 09:53:18 pm »
Here's how to add a little bit of extra color to your character's preset on FeralHeart. It gives the preset a hue, and it can be any color you want.

I'll use the mane on my preset for this tutorial. Here, it looks all white and boring.

Let's add a cyan hue to it.

1. Open your preset's material file.

2. Scroll down until you find the part of your preset that you want to add a hue to (in this case, the mane at the bottom).

3. Add the following code right above texture_unit:

ambient 0.5 0.5 0.5 1.0

The first three numbers are for the RGB (red, green, blue) values that determine what color the hue will be. Think of it as similar to the way you color your character on the game, moving the bars in different directions to get the different color values. For example, if you wanted a deep blue hue, you'd change the first three numbers to:

0.0 0.0 255.0 1.0

(PLEASE NOTE: The numbers HAVE to be in decimal form, so that ".0" after the number (even if it's a whole number) needs to be there.)

4. After tweaking with the three numbers in the code and have decided what kind of hue your preset should have, save.

(I made the numbers on mine 0.8 255.0 255.0 1.0 for a light cyan tone.)

5. Open up FeralHeart and get to your preset.

Your preset should now have a value to it. Here's what mine looks like now:

I hope that you found this tutorial helpful.

Modding & Meshing Tutorials / Waving Leaves
« on: October 25, 2015, 06:17:43 pm »
Are you tired of the leaves on the trees in FeralHeart just sitting there? Well, here's a way to make it so that the leaves wave.

1. Open the main FH folder (it should be in OS(C:))

2. Go to media>objects>trees

3. Open the material file of whatever tree you want to add the waving animation to.
(For this, I'm using the acacia tree.)

4. Copy and paste the following right underneath "texture acacialeaf.png" (or whatever texture you're using for the leaves):

            wave_xform rotate sine 1 .12 0 .02

5. Save

6. Open FeralHeart (close it, then open it again if it's already open)

Your tree's leaves should now have a waving animation, like so:

Don't be afraid to experiment with the numbers in the code above to get different waves.

Request/Find Meshes / Lots of meshes needed
« on: October 01, 2015, 01:11:53 am »
I'm trying to make a map that will look very similar to London for a certain group of mine on FH.
I'm aiming for a Victorian London look, so I won't need the Wheel. Basically, what this looks like:

Here's a list of the meshes I'll need:

    • Buildings. I'd prefer tall ones, though small ones could work.
    • Bridges
    • Candles, bookshelves, tables, pretty much any furniture that would have been found in a house during the time.
    • A fountain
    • If you're lucky enough to find this as a mesh, a mansion.
    • Farm animals
    • A carriage
    • Fences
    • Silverware and dishes (plates, teacups, tea kettles, etc.)
    [/list]

    Ask Me / Ask Tullile

I don't think I've ever actually introduced myself to anyone on here (I kind of just showed up out of nowhere on the forum), and instead of making an introduction topic, I think it might be a little fun to just let you guys ask me anything you want (as long as it's appropriate, of course). I'll answer anything game-related and even some personal questions, if you have any (but please don't ask about my age, sexuality, etc. etc.).
