W h a t a r e w e ?
"An unknown shadow, a deadly ally."
In a brief summery- The Noxaus is not a canine nor feline. Instead, they are a shadowy beast that dwells in the depths of a Hell much different than the one we think we know. A Noxaus can be either be more feline like in appearance, or canine like. They prefer to stay within their own world, but it isn't uncommon to find one on the surface. Their social structure and hierarchy however is more closely related to a pack of wolves. There is often a mated pair with more dominance than that of the other Noxaui who hold control and ultimate power. W h a t c a n w e d o ?
"We survive and conquer."
- Both genders can survive in extreme heat or frigid cold as adults, their bodies able to withstand the harsh conditions. The reason behind this is unknown, but some believe it is because they have two hearts. After all, their home is quite the extreme environment. Spawns [offspring], however are vulnerable to these extremes and need to be watched closely by their parents. Otherwise, the spawns will likely parish before their first year.
- A Noxaus can cause nightmares in a species other than their own just by sharing the same space as the other organism. These nightmares will occur the next time the creature sleeps, or if their mind enters a dream-like state. An over exposure [days to weeks] to their presence can cause momentary hallucinations and sickness [not normally life threatening]. This is one of the reasons why they prefer to keep to their own species, or if in a world other than theirs, remain solitary.
- They can morph into a creatures shadow, being able to harmlessly tag along or stalk the animal without it knowing. They cannot, however, morph into a shadow of their own species as they don't cast shadows. This ability can be used to communicate telepathically with other Noxaus. You can think of it as sharing the same mind for a short period of time, each lending part of themselves to the other for the communication to take place.
- A Noxaui's blood is poisonous to both their own kind and other species alike [the exception to this is blood-related family, and themselves]. This can be used to an advantage, and it can be a weakness. When wounded, a Noxaus will often attempt to splatter it's blood onto the opponent, aiming for the eyes or mouth [if in war, they will often coat their razor-like claws with their own blood]. If ingested, it can make the foe sick for days. If the blood gets into the eyes, the foe could be blinded from hours to one or two days.
- ***An Original can invade the dreams of other species, and on rare occasions, Noxaus. They will often do what they can to manipulate it into the dreamers worst fear or last memory in which they felt absolutely terrified. They cannot harm the dreamer this way, but rather do it for amusement or out of curiosity.
