How To Change Your Rendering System

Game crashing? Try this little fix c: In this little tutorial, it will show you how to change your rendering system in-game and not. Some examples from others may be found, but will be in the Works Cited giving proper credit to the original creator.

Changing Your Rendering System In-Game & At The Main Menu
Game not opening up? Sometimes the main cause is the rendering system lagging the application out causing a crash, or the rendering system being to strong for your computer to handle. The easy solution below will include step by step what to do, and how to perform it correctly, hope it can be helpful <3

Quote

Right click the game icon on your desktop and select "Properties"
then click on "Compatibility and follow the instructions in the image above.
When you reach the dropdown box, select the format you are using~
Finally, click "Apply" then "OK".
As the image and quote above say, find your desktop Feral Heart icon, right click and go to 'Properties', after you have done this click the tab saying 'Compatibility' and use the dropdown menu and select what windows program your computer is running off of. After you have done that, click 'Apply' and then 'Ok'.

If the solution above dosn't help, refer to the tutorial below.

Quote
Render System=Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem
[Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem]
Allow NVPerfHUD=No
FSAA=0
Floating-point mode=Fastest
Full Screen=No
Rendering Device=Monitor-1-AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series
Resource Creation Policy=Create on all devices
VSync=No
VSync Interval=1
Video Mode=1280 x 800 @ 32-bit colour
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No
[OpenGL Rendering Subsystem]
Colour Depth=32
Display Frequency=N/A
FSAA=0
Full Screen=No
RTT Preferred Mode=FBO
VSync=No
VSync Interval=1
Video Mode=800 x 600
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No

Copy and paste this above and overwrite your 'ogre.cfg' file, then hit 'Save'. Once you have done this, click your Feral Heart desktop icon and run the application. If it does open, go to 'Options' on the main screen and click 'Rendering Subsystem' under the 'Video' tab and change it to 'Direct3D9' then relaunch Feral Heart.

Being redone <3

Guide To Role-Play Realism

What this tutorial explains is ways to be as realistic as possible in role-play as well as keeping colors, behavior, and socialization just like the real animal. Have fun! <3

When searching for a role-play, you may notice someone saying "Kuna Pride! Realistic, Active, Literate etc..." Well, what they mean is, they want lions that look realistic, almost like the real thing. If you want to become realistic, maybe research the animal your looking to make realistic, for example, the african lion for the pride in the example above, simply go to a search engine such as 'google.com' , 'bing.com' , or any other engine you use and type in the animal you want to look for, mine was "african lion".

You may see something like this or close to it. Click the desired link you want to go to, if your looking for trusted facts, try using 'National Geographic' or 'BBC Wildlife' or any other known animal channels/researchers.

In this case, I picked 'National Geographic' as they are a reliable wildlife research website. There will be articles and information such as pictures, videos, and maps to look at but what your main focus is the article about the animal. In this instance it is right in the middle, feel free to skim it and take what information you need from the article.

Now what you want to do is look for pictures of their appearance, so go to your search engine again and go to images (im using google) and type in your animal.

Pick any image you would like to use for a reference, but normally lions are a golden, tanish hue, with dark tail tips and yellowish eyes. If your going for a more realistic pride with a dominate male, the healthier and more dominate males have darker manes, which you may see in the images above.

Once you have done this, you may want to check out their behavior, -flees to search engine-!

This is the article you want, explore more about your animal topic if you feel you want to. Education never has a limit if you explore more into it.

Hope this little tutorial helps you floofs a bit!

Adding Items & Meshes to Your Game
Need help adding these things? Well, heres the place to look!

Adding Items
Adding items is easy, and is a quick 5-6 step installation process that is pain free! ^^ Below are the steps to properly installing your items.

- Download the .zip/.rar file.
- Unpack/rar the file and copy the items.cfg
- Paste the items.cfg file in the main FeralHeart folder and overwrite the original
- Copy all the textures, materials, and mesh files and paste them in FeralHeart>>Media>>Items
- Re-run your game and if it didnt work check below.

If your items didnt show up, you might have done something wrong, make sure to overwrite the original items.cfg file, or else none of the items will render into the game! Also, make sure you pasted every texture in your items folder, or they will be white blobs with no texture on them.

If nothing above was going on, restart your computer and re-run the game, or go through the steps again and re-write the files.

Adding Meshes/Objects
Easy, simple, and a painless tutorial ^^ Just follow the steps below and it should work c:

- Download the file.
- Unpack everything and copy all the textures, material files, and mesh files.
- Paste all files in the "My_Objects" folder unless instructed otherwise in the Read Me file.
- Open FeralHeart and go to "Object Maker" and be sure to check if the items already are good to use, if not, go one by one opening the meshes and saving them.
- Have fun with your meshes!

Thank you for reading this tutorial! Love chu guys <3

Connection Problems And Solutions

Ever get a "Bad Token" "Failed to connect to front server" "Or connection lost" messages? Well, these are common connection issues that can be fixed ^^ Below will be a few quotes/steps to fixing such issues and things to check~

Quote
Unable to log on/go online.

FeralHeart is mainly an online role playing game. This means if you want to get the most fun out of it, you'd need to be connected to the internet. Some people might have issues getting on the actual game, so here's a few things you can try if you have the game but aren't able to go online.

List of things to check:
1. Wrong username or Password?
2. Do you have the most recent patch?
3. Check so there's no security software blocking the game.
4. Make sure that you've a solid internet connection.

Wrong username or Password?
There's actually a "bug" in the current registration system, logging into the game can be a problem for some reasons. If you're unable to log in, and just get banned for 15 mins for getting the wrong pass, here's a few things that might solve it.

-The password is capital sensitive, so if you use a small letter where you regged with a big one, it will be the wrong pass
-The numpad on keyboards doesn't work. So you need to use the numbers above the rest of the letters
-some symbols doesn't work as they should and you need to change keyboard layout in order for them to work

If you are unable to fix this It's suggested that you reset your password on your profile here on the forum and set it to a new one without any complicated symbols or numbers, just letters. And if still no success, just create a new account here on the site, and follow This!

Got the recent patch?
The game gets updated every now and then with new features or just fixes. In most cases when there's a new patch available users need to download it in order to play.

If you get a window when trying to log on the game saying "Please download the latest patch @ feral-heart.com" Then you simply need to download the latest patch from our "Official Downloads" and install it. Once that's done you can play the game again!

Is the computer allowing FeralHeart to connect to the internet?
Games like these needs to be able to connect to the internet, but sometimes windows doesn't know if the game/application can be trusted or it just skips adding the game to exceptions. If you aren't able to log on the game, this might be your issue.

Open up your control panel located in the start menu. Depending on which Operating system you use, and which layout it might look differently. But Windows firewall should be in the category "security" or just find the text "Windows firewall" or "Allow a program through windows firewall". This should take you to the correct place.

Once there you'll get a new window with a list of programs. Try to locate FeralHeart.exe in there and add it to exceptions by marking the checkbox. If you can't find it, and the game to the list by yourself by pressing add program.

If you don't understand how to do this still, ask someone else to do this for you.

Sometimes there might be something else blocking the program from accessing the internet. A good example of these are some Antivirus programs. This can vary a lot as well. But check up if by any chance your virus program might be blocking feralheart. And just not only by clicking the icon in the corner sayings "Nope!". Look in the advanced menus and preferences first. Only you can check this.

How's your internet connection?
Sometimes the internet connection of the users trying to play the game might be weak. This can cause you to not being able to connect or staying online for a longer time, many people might start blaming the game or server for this when it in fact might be themselves.

Here's a few things you can check:
1. Are you even connected to the internet right now?
2. Are you running any downloading/streaming programs?
3. Are there any other computers/devices using the same internet?
4. Are you currently using a wireless connection, if so, are you getting good signal?

Sometimes the internet connection can time out for various reasons and then jump back on again, so be sure to try a few times first.

Programs in the background
Downloading things or running streaming programs eats your bandwidth, and this bandwidth is needed in order to play the game, especially if you're using slower speeds. You can start by shutting off things like downloading programs and internet browsers. Maybe even IM programs such as MSN and AIM and try to play again.

Turn off extra devices
If you got more than 1 computer or other devices also using the internet, try turning them off if they're not in use. This will give you more bandwidth to spare.

On a wireless connection?
If you're using a laptop you might be using a wireless internet connection. These can sometimes loose their signal to the internet source. So try placing yourself closer to your modem, this might give you a stronger signal.

These things should solve the most connection problems!

End~

As stated here by Red in the Big Help Thread, are you running programs in the backround? Are you on wireless internet? Do you have enough bandwidth? As seen in this quote try moving closer to the modem or router and see if you get a stronger signal to hopefully stay connected to the server.

If your internet is connected, but seems not to allow you to go onto the internet, try disconnecting from your internet and reconnecting, such as restarting the internet on your computer. Also, try having a parent restart your router ^^

Quote
I keep getting bad tokens, failed to connect to map server or timing out while playing.

If you have made sure your connection is working fine, and maybe FeralHeart has worked all good before, there still can happen things in the game when walking around in different maps. Examples of these are so called "Bad Tokens", "Failed to connect to map server" messages.

Even though the game has it's own server, it's not perfect and can get stuck as well. If you're experiencing troubles a good bet is always to wait a few mins/hours and try again later. It solves a lot of problems.

Bad tokens is the servers way to tell you that something went wrong when loading a map/location most of the times. The client failing to communicate with the server, or other way around. If there was some connection problems just during the time you tried to load a new map, this might happen to you. Also maps that has an extreme amount of online users, or more objects and other custom things might take longer to load, and the chance of getting bad tokens might rise. Usually the issue doesn't last for too long and get solved by just trying going through a portal again or loading the character again or just keep reconnecting, for some it's worse than others.

Failed to connect to map server is a message you also can get while changing maps and entering portals in the game. It's usually nothing severe either, and as worst, your character might be stuck in that map until there's a reset of the map server process. Another issue similar to this can be if you get the loading screen after choosing a character, but it never loads. Most of the time it should be followed by this "failed to connect" message. If you try to choose another character that isn't placed in the same map, it sometimes let you play since every map in the game, has it's own server process. Sometimes the server needs to be restarted in order to fetch some stuck characters. If you had characters that's been stuck for weeks, you should contact the staff.

Failed to connect to front server is another funky message you might get. Most of the time you get this either when your internet is down or the server is down completely. It can also be that your firewall or any other security software is preventing FeralHeart from accessing the internet. If it's the server and not your internet it should be sorted shortly and be back up and running, if it will be down for longer times the staff will let you know.

If the server is up though for a longer time, and you're still having issues to connect, you should follow the tips mentioned in the post "Unable to log on/go online" above, and if that fails to work. Contact those responsible for your internet or maybe someone that knows more and are able to help you.

End~
There we go ^^

Thankie for reading, I may tweak this later~

Making Good Descriptions
This tutorial will be based around making good descriptions, and, not becoming a derp like the #2FAB4U fluffs, we have da derp disease.

Step One:
Stay on topic! When writing a description, you want to be on the topic right? Such as describing a preset, you don't want a rainbow wolf when you tried describing a red and blue one. For Example: (Bad) She is red and blue all over with some yellow. < The preset maker may not understand this, therefore, try something like this: (good) She is red up to her front legs, with blue covering her paws. The yellow is on her head and front legs, and the eyes should be a mix of all colors with a orb. < This will help the preset maker by staying on topic of the preset layout!

Step Two:
Take a deep breath or stretch. Relaxing is a good step to take when preparing to write ^^ It allows you to be calm about the situation and breath. Maybe walk around a bit, do a couple sit ups, some deep breaths, or anything else you can do to relax z^.^Z (Dat dancing face fab right?)

Step Three:
Write! Try to fill in detail, humor, and a little interesting things people might not find by looking at the character. Let your imagination fly! Let loose, type, breath, and type some more ^^ It dosn't have to be a mile long, just try to describe detail ^.^

Thankie for reading this thing!
