Game Help / Mane Issues??
« on: November 18, 2016, 05:53:04 pm »
For whatever reason my mane keeps appearing black where it should be transparent on the preset.
Help >.<
This is the code I have. As you can see, I have it set up so I can have glowing parts if I want, not that it's likely, but you never know. The layer named "preset_1maneG.png" is 100% transparent, but when I go into the preset maker, it shows up as being black.
Code: [Select]
material preset_1_maneMat
{
technique
{
pass
{
ambient 0.5 0.5 0.5
texture_unit
{
texture preset_1mane.png
}
}
pass
{
emissive 1.0 0.0 0.0
scene_blend alpha_blend
texture_unit
{
texture preset_1maneG.png
}
}
}
}
This is "preset_1mane.png"
Not sure what's going on here. I've had this setup since I started making presets and never had this issue.

Request a Preset/Marking / Skin Texture?
« on: December 20, 2014, 03:02:08 pm »
Hai.~ I wanna do a preset that doesn't have fur, but I can't find any such textures that replicate skin. If anyone knows of a downloadable texture like that out there, please share it with me. Or if anyone would be willing to make this texture for me, I would be most grateful.

Changing the game's rendering system from outside the actual game is quite simple.
First, go into C: > Feralheart. If you look at the FH main folder, you will see a file called:
"orge.cfg"
Click it, and open it with "notepad" or any other program that you can edit text files with. Doesn't ask to change it? Right click the file (make sure you're not clicking the Feralheart folder itself) go to properties > " change..." and search for notepad on your computer,

Look at the first two lines in the orge.cfg file. That is where you change the game's rendering sysyem to either OpenGL or DirectX

If you followed everything that was typed and the instructions in the pictures, you should have successfully switched your rendering system.

Didn't work? Keep reading.

-Solution 2-
The next (hopefully) solution is also simple. Simply search for FearlHeart's folder in your computer and open it. You'll see a bunch of folders and some files. Look for the folder named "media" an then click it. Once you see all of those new folders, click the "particles" folder. (Simpfied: C:/Feralheart/media/particles) You'll see some random files in there with exotic names such as star aura, etc. Those particles are those moving animations in game, like the smoke in Sky's Rim. Sometimes when the game crashes or you accidently install a map incorrectly, those particle files duplicate, and you do not want that to happen. If you see any particle files that end with a _0, _1, and so on, delete them. That's a possible reason why Feralheart crashes once it turns on. Computers aren't very good at distinguishing differences in files with the same names, unless they are different file extentions. Sometimes particles can also find their way into the my_objects folder which is in C:/Feralheart/media/objects/my_objects. If you still don't see any, you can also search in computer "particle."

Didn't work? Keep Reading.

-Solution 3-
Just as particle files can duplicate, so can those pesky mesh files in the my_objects in C:/Feralheart/media/objects/my_objects. If you see any files in there (if you have any in there) that end in _0, _1, and so on, delete them.

Didn't work? Keep reading.

-Solution 4-
Next, your best option would be to reinstall Feralheart via a new installer. What I mean by that is when you downloaded FH off the site, you didn't automatically get FH onto your computer; you go an installer. Go to here and download the setup ONLY. Do not download the patch or the torrent. Wait until that setup has been downloaded from the internet, and then run it. Install Feralheart, and see if it works!

Hopefully that helps a bit. :3 Also, do you use a Mac by any chance?

Thank you so much! This helped a lot. :D Turns out it was a duplicated .particle file. x3
And also, no. I use a Dell

The absolute First thing you want to try is to change the rendering mode for the game. There's different rendering modes you can pick from, usually OpenGL and Direct3D9. This decides which way your graphic card should process the game. This one is at standard set to OpenGL, so we'd want to set it to Direct3D9.

There's 2 ways you can change this setting.

How to fix it!

Either you start the game, go into the options menu, click the Video tab, and then change the rendering subsystem and restart the game.

Sometimes you aren't able to even enter the game, and all you can hear is the menu music, or it just crashes directly after launch. Those who experience this can enter the feralheart folder located in C:\FeralHeart at standard, find the file called "Ogre.cfg" and open it with wordpad.

This file works just as the ingame options menu, but instead of buttons and sliders, there's text.
Render System=OpenLG  Rendering Subsystem
Change it to:
Render System=Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem

I hope it worked. PM me if it didn't for further info.

Thank you! ^.^

Every time I go to get onto Feral Heart it stops working. I think it might be a corrupted file, but I haven't the slightest idea what file could have been corrupted. I just exported a map not too long ago. I don't know if that has anything to do with my current problem or not, though.

Game Discussion / Re: Rape jokes.

It's horrible. Simply horrible
In my opinion I think SOME children joke about it because, well, I don't think most of them truely understand what it is they're joking about. A kid wouldn't know how that stuff 'works' so to them it's not that bad of a thing
That or they're insensitive pricks
Either or
But I've met kids in the game who don't actually know what 'rape' is and thought it was a dance
Not joking.

Woooowwwww. -.- That's just wrong.

Game Discussion / Re: Attack of the Short-Posts?
« on: October 19, 2013, 07:04:05 pm »
I just don't favor short roleplay posts because you can't get anything out of it. "The wolf sat down." Good for it! But how am I supposed to respond to that?

Person: *Sits down on a rock*
Me: The wolf trotted towards the loner, her lanky legs striding gracefully over the flat terrain. Her electric lime green eyes, which seemed to glow in the rapidly approaching twilight, evaluated the canine perched upon the stone, her expression stolid.
Person: *Looks up*

It just gets boring when you have nothing to go off of. If you're only given one thing to respond to, you can only respond to that one thing, rather than multiple things. "Person" could have said something about looking up, the expression on their character's face, and even their character's thoughts about my character at first sight.  It's just hard to write more about something, when there isn't a whole lot to write about. I could go into a whole spheal about my character sitting down and watching the loner, but that's boring. :/ Need to throw something new into the mix. I could have just left it at "The wolf trotted towards the loner," but where's the sustenance in that?

Game Discussion / Re: Character Underbellies
« on: October 19, 2013, 05:23:47 pm »
I don't really care for darker underbellies. It makes the character look... silly. It isn't realistic, either. I've never seen an animal in real life with a darker underbelly. Apart from birds, but no one really plays as birds on here very often. :/
