Particle Help?

I really want to create a new map, and I have some of the objects made, like a waterfall. In FeralHeart+, one of the items is like smoke. I have the file (as well as a bonfire particle I want to make) already placed in the particles folder. I go to try and make the objects using the particle thing, but it says that they do not exist. How do you create objects using a particle exactly? o-o

Have you put the extension .particle at the end? Cause that usually fixes it for me.
