Canis Ferox
« on: July 29, 2016, 03:03:29 am »
Common name: Ferox
Scientific name: Canis Ferox
Identifiable traits: Very dark pelt and markings, neon mane and matching glow-slit eyes. Some have black antlers/horns that are relatively small. Same sizing as lions. Tend to be quite quick, though it varies.

Behavior with their own species: They tend to live in packs, and packs have a simple hierarchy with an Alpha, a Beta, pup-sitters, hunters, scouts, and breeders. Alphas and Betas can be taken over by a challenge, and it's often Loners who attempt to take over the ranks. Older members are kicked out. A few loners exist, though they are attacked on site by pack dogs and other loners. Feroxes that are separated from their pack will howl on a specific, high-pitch; a proper response would be a mimic of the howl by all who hear it. It is sometimes also used as a battle cry for Loners looking to take the Alpha or Beta rank of a pack.

Behavior with those outside their species: Those older than 2 months go into a state called Bloodlust where they are driven to chase down the other species and kill it. If one Ferox goes into Bloodlust, no matter the scenario, all others will follow suit. The Bloodlust state ends when either the target has been torn limb from limb or cannot be reached, i.g. it jumped off a cliff. If the target jumps off a cliff, the Bloodlusted Feroxes are easily excitable and will investigate all sounds, as well as generally more aggressive. Feroxes cannot ignore the sound of something that likely isn't another Ferox-- it's not physically possible.

Design do's:
No genetic defects

Antlers
(Only giving one example, but there are a ton of small black horns/antlers that would be accepted!)

Dwarfism

Lighter/different markings

Design don'ts:
No genetic defects

Antlers

Dwarfism

Lighter/different markings

General Design:
-The pelt has to be below 55,55,65, and the markings within a difference of 20 of the exact same ratio/shade. For example, if the pelt is 20,21,22, the markings can be between 0,1,2 and 40,41,41, but cannot be 50,51,52 or 12,11,10.
-Dwarfs are, ideally at default, though they can be a little bit taller.
-Nose must be maxed out.
-The eyes must be one of the glow slits, though a rare few have black slit eyes.
-To determine what genetic defects you have, use a probability spinner and spin it twice. Make the options: 15 normal, 5 antlers/horns, 3 different markings, 1 dwarf, 1 black slit eyes.
-Not sure if your design is alright? Shoot me a PM with your colour codes (Ie, Pelt=5,10,15, underfur=10,15,20, etc.), and a screenie of your character's sizing! I'll be glad to help you out.
