Presets & Markings / Stormy's Preset Lab/Gallery
« on: May 30, 2014, 04:16:12 am »
Hello everyone! I have split this thread into two sections, the Gallery, and the Lab.
The Gallery is for presets that look the way I intended them to look. The Lab is for my various random ideas that I just want to test out (and as such, they are random and possibly horrifying)

NOTE: I don't have much yet, check in every once in a while for new stuff!  ;)

Stormy's Preset Lab

This is where I will keep my preset making experiment results (no matter how horrifying XD)

I tried tracing on lines from the reference pictures. the results!

Stormy's Preset Gallery

Currently empty! Check back later!

Game Discussion / Favorite type of roleplay?
« on: May 29, 2014, 10:17:59 pm »
Hello everyone! I'm curious as to what RPs are popular in the community! So I ask-

What are your favorite RPs?

Mine is probably Wolf Pack/Lion Pride RPs that accept unrealistic characters! I rarely get to do them though, unfortunately ):
I also prefer to RP with people who don't use txt tlk or Wolfspeak. Spelling isn't really a big issue as long as you're trying (typos happen, and I do them a lot XD), and I don't have a preference between scripted or paragraph post-styles. :D

Second Question

What is your favorite/best method for finding an RP?

Mine is to sit near Stone Bridge and stalk the posts/movies to find one I'm interested in. It isn't all that effective, I only find Warriors and realistic Wolf Pack RPs.

Thanks!

The Icegrip Packs

This is to gain members for the RP while the map is being created. Those who sign up before the map is done, I will send you a message with the map download link (and any other information) once the map is completed

RP Information

The RP is about four wolf packs that live in the snowy, cold, and unforgiving land, Icegrip. Each pack has it's own territory, special skills, and members!
The RP allows your wolf to look however you like (neon, wings, markings, ext.) but, it's pack structure is realistic.
You may RP however you like, but Semi-literate or literate is preferred. No "Wolfspeak" please.

Rules
  • DO NOT Godmod or Powerplay
  • DO NOT use Wolfspeak
  • If your wolf dies, it can NOT come back to life.
  • Your wolf MUST age. If you're a pup when you join, you can't be a pup forever
  • If your wolf gets injured, you MUST remain injured for a while depending on the injured (Or in other words, no instant healing)
  • Your wolf CAN NOT have powers (laser eyes, can control lighting, shape-shift, ext.)
  • You MUST RP as a wolf
  • No PERFECT characters. You can't be great at everything, makes it unfair to everyone else  ;)

Failing to follow these rules will get you kicked out of the RP. If you don't understand one of the rules, tell me and I can explain it to you  ;)

Pack Information

There are four packs you may choose to be a part of. Only one is currently named! (I need help naming them, feel free to give suggestions)

StormFire Pack:
Territory:
The territory is very hilly, with the den area at the top of a mountain. Due to the ground being very rocky, there are very few trees. Most of which growing only along the river that separates the territories. Due to the lack of vegetation, very few big game live there, so they rely on birds and rodents for food.
Skill:
The StormFire Pack is known for their ability to climb trees and jump very far and high. They are great at hunting birds and rodents. They sacrifice strength for speed and agility in combat.
Ranks:
Alpha: IcePelt|StormWolf68
Beta: None
Lead Hunter: None
Hunters: None
Elders: None
Medicine Wolf: none
Pups: None
Newborn Pups: None

Pack 2: (Needs name)
Territory:
Heavily forested with one lake in the heart of the territory. There is usually plenty of prey...but also plenty of predators. Bears, raccoons, cougars, foxes, and other animals  pose a threat to pups and adults alike.
Skills:
They are very skilled at moving silently through dead leaves and plants. They average in speed but are usually very strong from hunting moose, deer, elk, and other big game!
Ranks:
Alpha: None
Beta: None
Lead Hunter: None
Hunters: None
Elders: None
Medicine Wolf: none
Pups: None
Newborn Pups: None

Pack 3: (Needs name)
Territory:
Flat with a few hills. Due to nothing to block wind, it can get pretty cold at times. There isn't much to hunt except for rodents hiding under the snow. and occasionally caribou.
Skills:
Due to having to find their prey scurrying under the snow in order to eat, they've gotten a very strong sense of hearing and smell and can easily catch even the slightest sounds and smells. Their fur is thicker than normal to help block the cold winds, and they have very strong front legs and chests from digging through snow for their prey.
Ranks:
Alpha: None
Beta: None
Lead Hunter: None
Hunters: None
Elders: None
Medicine Wolf: None
Pups: None
Newborn Pups: None

Pack 4: (Needs name)
Territory:
The rivers that separate the territories seem to flow to this territory! As a result it is primarily made up of freezing cold, marshy water. There is almost always a thin layer of ice over the major bodies of water. There is an abundance of fish in the water, and a decent number of trees.
Skills:
Excellent swimmers and they can hold their breath for a long while. From their diet of fish, and adaption to their watery way of life, they have oily fur. The oiliness of their fur causes water to slide right of them, so they rarely get chilled after a swim. From their skills in fishing, they have very fast reflexes in hunting, and in combat.
Ranks:
Alpha: None
Beta: None
Lead Hunter: none
Hunters: None
Elders: None
Pups: None
Newborn Pups: None

Whenever I post, I tend to post something, then edit it a bunch of times, fixing things or just adding after-thoughts. Does anyone else do this, or is it just me?

Just curious!

Character & Roleplay Tutorials / Realistic Wolf Tutorial [Updated]
« on: May 03, 2014, 06:14:03 am »
I've seen a lot of people try to join Wolf/Wolf Pack RPs but get rejected because their character isn't "realistic" enough, then they wonder why. For whatever reason, I've seen a lot of people nitpick to the point where even a slightly out of the ordinary eye color isn't accepted!

If you are having trouble making a wolf that will usually be accepted into a "realistic" RP this may be able to help you! May try and make it more organized sometime.

1) Fur Color

One of the major things that people look at when deciding if your character is realistic enough, is the fur color! Obviously if it's a realistic RP, you wouldn't waltz up with a bright blue wolf and ask to join. You also wouldn't walk up with...THIS coloring catastrophe

That bright of an orange does NOT pass (ignore the eyes and yada yada, this was about the color). Tan possibly. That? No. "But Stormy! I've seen orangish colored wolves before!" yes, there are "orangish" colored wolves in real life, but "orangish" in real life does NOT MEAN a walking cheese puff. The color is real life is more of a reddish brown color  ;)

Now, what colors DO, pass as realistic. Well, probably the most common wolf color is grey or black with a cream color underbelly (cream is NOT the same as white, it isn't as bright really). Usually it will have flecks of brown in there too depending on the wolf.

The grey could probably go a bit darker than that really. Note that the underfur isn't a very bright white. A bright white (to me personally) can throw off the realism of the wolf, very rarely will you see a real wolf that is a very bright white, but that may just be me, I'm strange like that.
Also note how in the picture above, the area around the eyes are dark. Wolves are known for having very expressive "faces" with black around the eyes and a black nose, so feel free to add that in too  ;)

The next fur color is brown (or a brownish red color)! Same goes for them really, the brown on top, cream on bottom. With brown wolves though, you can also go for a solid color (same color underfur as pelt. ALSO, solid can also work with grey wolves) or even make the underfur a slightly lighter shade than the pelt.

This is one of the reddish brown wolves, it is usually a solid color or cream underfur (as seen above).

A brown wolf with cream underfur

Solid brown wolf

A brown wolf with lighter underfur.
How you make your wolf is completely up to you, but these should be decent guidelines. How dark or light you make the brown is completely up to you. Also keep in mind not to make your wolf green/blue/red/ext. tinted on accident (I sometimes have trouble making a brown that doesn't look slightly red  ;))

Ok! Next on the list! White wolves, these are pretty simple really. Make a wolf that's pretty much all white but adding black around the eyes and tail tip is usually ok.

Keep in mind that there are more colors than just white, brown, and grey! Look up pictures of wolves on the internet, and try to replicate them, it's great practice, helps your wolves' to be more unique while still staying realistic, and I find it fun! (but remember the cheese puff wolves. A good rule to follow is bright=bad in most cases)

2) Markings

First things first, simple thought. Would you see a wolf with a skeleton pattern on their fur? Probably not. Don't use it if you're aiming for realism. I mainly use only the "underfur" marking, it helps blend the underfur and pelt better (again, personal opinion)
Second, make sure your markings match the colors of your wolf. Have a reddish brown wolf with cream underfur? If the marking is primarily where the cream is, make it cream, and vice versa.
That is pretty much it for markings, you simply need to think about what you would see on a wolf and if you wouldn't see it on a real wolf, you shouldn't see it on YOUR wolf.

3) Eyes

Eye color tolerance can vary, but usually it's a dark brown, black, or dark dark green color (sage?)
Also avoid the fancy eye types. I usually just keep it on normal to be safe. and definitely NO PUPILESS!

4) Body Type & Head

First you must think about what gender your wolf is. Will it be a male or a she-wolf? This will help determine the head and body!

Female

(This is all based on personal preference really, doesn't effect the realism much)
For the head, make the cheeks fluffy! (or in other words make it decently high up there on the scroll bar) the nose bar should be very low, I actually have it all the way down but in the middle is fine. Forehead is all the way down. The eyes scroll bar is in the middle. The muzzle is proportionate to the head. Ears are usually fine in the middle.
I usually make my female wolves' weight either all the way down, or in the middle depending on how I want it to look or how I made the head (don't want the head to big for the body now do we?). For height I usually keep it  almost all the way up, but not quite, if that makes sense. (I personally like being a big strong looking wolf, so size is up to preference, try not to make them TO small though, it may ruin the realism)

Male

For the male, I generally make the cheeks a bit smaller than I would for a female. Aside from that, there generally isn't much different.
I tend to give them a big more weight than I would for a female, and usually make their height all the way up

I tried to make it so you get the basics on how to keep your wolf realistic, without restricting you to one look (Feral Heart is about RPing as your own unique character after all!).
Hope I've helped out those who were struggling a bit, if I left anything out, something wasn't really realistic, or if something wasn't quite clear, let me know and I'll make sure I get it fixed!

Game Discussion / Unrealistic/fantasty Characters
« on: May 02, 2014, 10:20:13 pm »
I'm curious. How many other members have primarily fantasy/nonrealistic, bright colored characters!

I've noticed that there aren't many RPs that are for characters that are bright colored, or unrealistic. When I advertise to try and find someone to RP with, very rarely I'll find someone.
Due to this problem I have, I've needed to make other characters that are realistic! (they are included in my Character Bios -link in sig-, try and guess which ones I've made for this purpose  ;))
And my first ever character, IcePelt, I needed to take the wings off of in order to even USE her in any RPs!

As I said, just curious on how many members have this problem!

Game Suggestions & Ideas / Idea Regarding Markings
« on: April 14, 2014, 10:53:25 pm »
Sorry if this has been said before!

I've noticed a lot of players have the Mass Markings pack (and a few other popular marking packs). I've also noticed that a lot of players (including myself) can't get MM due to lag and other glitches. Due to not having the pack, a large majority of people show up as marshmallows (white)

My idea is to officially add markings from MM (and others if needed) into the base game, so everyone may use the markings, and see other people's characters as they are intended to be seen. Not marshmallow.

Just a thought, let me know what you guys think of it  ;)

Characters / My Character Bios [Big Update]
« on: April 13, 2014, 10:41:45 pm »
Hey everyone! This is where I will be keeping my character descriptions/bios (shortened quite a bit, as I need SOMETHING to use for RPing  ;)) for other people to see (and comment on if they want)

If you are interested in RPing with any of them, whisper me in-game or message me here on the forums  :D

~IcePelt~

Gender: Female
Age: 6 human years
Bio:
IcePelt was born to the Beta Female of a strong, but very overpopulated wolf pack in the South Pole. She was the only one of her five siblings to survive to adulthood, the others were unable to fight their pack mates for what little food was available, and therefor, starved to death.
Once IcePelt turned two years of age, she was booted in an effort for the pack to lower it's numbers, and chased out of the South Pole. Over the years, she has lived in a large number of places, learning survival and combat skills, and how to use her talents and skills to her advantage.
IcePelt is very fast, but not strong, and has terrible social skills. She is currently wandering around searching for a more permanent home.
Pic: NOTE: IcePelt usually does NOT have wings

~CrazedPelt~
Gender: Female
Age: 167 human years
Bio:
No one is quite sure where this yapper came from. She is friendly, fun, and enjoys causing general chaos.
Pic:

~Raven~
Gender: Male
Age: 17 human years
Info:
Raven is the wolf/lion version of my best friend, Raven. In reality he has shoulder length, black hair, with red at the tips. His eyes are a very pretty cyan color. He is friendly, crazy smart, and funny. He'd burn your home in a heartbeat for hurting any of his friends, but otherwise he's a pretty gentle boy.

Bio:
Orphaned as a young child, he was raised by his abusive uncle in Canada. When at his uncle's home, he was separated from his triplet brothers. At age 9 he ran away from his uncle to find his family, for six months he had to survive in the Canadian wilderness. Once he got back to America, he found his brothers, and their new parents. They now live happily ever after.  ;)
Pics:

~Idiline~
Gender: Female
Age: 2
Info:
Idiline is my more, realistic, wolf I use when my other, brightly colored and/or winged wolves just won't work for an RP I want to join. I otherwise don't use her all that often. She has a quickly put together background (bio) which is simple and allows me to RP wherever the RP's story goes.
Bio:
Idiline and her brother Myrus were born to a loner she-wolf. When they were 1 year old, their mother was shot from an airplane, and they had to learn all survival skills themselves. Around Idiline's second birthday, Myrus ran off with another she-wolf he met, and never returned, leaving Idiline to fend for herself.
 Pic:

~Azuquise~
Gender: male
Age: 189
Bio:
Azuquise is a distant cousin of CrazedPelt. They are often "partners in crime" and go out for ice cream every Friday...after a little mischief of course.
Pic:

~Rasha~
Gender: Female
Age: 5
Info:
Rasha, like Idiline, is used when I want to join an RP, but my other lions don't really "fit the bill". HOWEVER, she is looking for a more permanent pride if anyone is interested (message me)
Bio:
Rasha was born into a large pride, one day she left the pride to look for greener pastures.

NOT FINISHED YET  ;)
I will update when I have time!

Introduction / Hello everyone!
« on: April 13, 2014, 09:02:22 pm »
Hello everyone!

I'm not new to the game, just trying to become more active on the forums! I'm a teenage girl living somewhere in America!

I play as many characters on the game. Due to none of them being Warrior cats, or at all realistic, I have a lot of trouble finding RPS to join/people to RP with me.

Here are some of the characters I play as most often!

Raven [Wolf]

Raven [Lion]

IcePelt

CrazedPelt

I'm always looking for friends to RP with, so if you see me give me a whisper!
