News Archives / Re: October Update Part 2
« on: October 10, 2018, 04:28:31 am »
Thank you for the explanation. I look forward to hearing more on future happenings when it comes to this program. I also wish you luck as you (Raz) and your new team of moderators move into the next generation of Feral-Heart. May it be better than the last; may we all learn from our mistakes and use our findings as future solutions to potential future challenges. Good luck everyone!

Very Respectfully,

Angarika/Blakyhart

Just like everyone else who has responded to your post, I too agree with everything you've stated in your original post. It was wonderfully written. One of the few, good objective standpoints of how to look at this entire ordeal that I've seen as of yet.

You are, and everyone else who has posted is correct when they say change is difficult. It can be upsetting to some and in some cases, cause uproar/riot-like situations, like the ones we recently had, especially for those who've become comfortable and set in their ways and see no reason to change. At the same time though, change is good. It allows all those directly involved and those who may become involved sometime down the road, to add another tool to their toolkit bag for overcoming challenges in the future. It opens doors as change provides people the opportunity to better understand and acquaint themselves with what it truly means to "adapt and overcome," as change essentially forces them to. It makes people ask, "I can't go back, so how do I go forward while at the same time, not repeating the past?" It makes us take a 360-degree look and consider other options when we may have only dared consider the 180-degree aspect of something before.

Everyone's correct when they keep repeating the phrase that nothing is going to remain the same; something's going to happen, be it now, a week from today or years down the road. It's true that all we can do is prepare ourselves, setting percussions and individualized instructions for ourselves on what to do if x, y, and z happens, so that when the worst does occur, we have a secondary plan of action to turn to and place into motion to minimize the damage done to us or those we consider dear. Who knows, we could even potentially craft the third solution if there is any speculation (even the slightest) that the secondary fix may fall through. Now the secondary or third options may not fix or be the solution in the grand scheme of things but it extends the clock, adding time for others to collectively create what may be the appropriate fix. I agree with you when you mentioned this is essentially what Raz is doing. Creating that x, y, and z secondary and third option.

I must concede, when this entire system was put out about a week ago, I was rather upset. Not in the traditional sense that everyone else was. I was not upset at the "injustice" divided against the staff, nor the "unfairness" directed toward the community for "destroying" their access to new content, but because I allowed the banter to get the better of me. In the end, too, I ended up joining in, letting my new found ability to voice the years of pent-up frustration toward x, y, and z be my guide. I don't regret the decision looking back, as one should never regret anything they do, but I am disappointed in myself for just how quick I responded with my initial opinion. I took a bias stand instead of an objective.

You're right, we do need to be objective in this. Being bias will get us nowhere; choosing these so-called or self-proclaimed "sides," will lead us to nothing but a dead end. We can't ignore what's happened but we also can't get caught up in it. We must overcome it and find the appropriate solution that'll minimize the issues Feral-Heart was having before, be it on the staff/administrative level or member/community one. We must look at this challenge as "how can this issue better our community and if it doesn't, how can we change it to be what it is we're looking for?" without reverting to the "old ways" of how things are traditionally done.

Truthfully I too like this idea of an AI system that helps moderate the game. I too am all for the idea of removing moderator ability from the Feral-Heart game itself, restricting their power to solely the forum. It'll alleviate, if not at minimum, reduce the current "power-hungry" or "ill-trained" perspective a lot of the members the community have of the moderators. It could potentially eliminate the "favoritism" or "big-shot" issue that's been seen in the past (ie. the more you're known, the greater someone/moderators are willing to assist/help you in the issue you've brought to the table). In layman terms, it gives light to all the "little people" out there that have been overlooked because they simply aren't "active" on the forums, Deviant Art page, Discord server and so on so forth. Catch my drift?

Bottom line, I also agree. I'm excited and am looking forward to how this goes - to having Feral-Heart turn into a community lead group instead of a moderator/staff lead one. I believe someone mentioned it on another forum but it may pave the way for members without any "power" to have the opportunity to hold their own events (ie. dances, movie nights, raffles) and what else not, without the need to be "staff" to fuel people's interest of participating. Ya know?

Let me know what you think. I look forward to reading responses to this post.

Very Respectfully,

Game Help / Connection Issues

Good afternoon,

May I recommend checking out the following thread: Connected to the Front Server | Characters Won't Load

Hopefully this helps.

Game Help / Login Time
« on: January 06, 2016, 05:25:56 am »

Good afternoon,

There's been several responses to this post but I thought I'd add one as well. If you're not a fan Google Chrome or your computer cannot support this browser, check if the one being used as an auto-refresh and auto-login application. I use Chrome but those two applications have sincerely helped me continue using the game without much error besides the time it takes me to successfully appear on my character, in the game.

Hopefully this helps.

Game Help / Help | Windows 10
« on: January 06, 2016, 05:19:24 am »
Good afternoon,

Pardon me asking but if I may ask, did you by chance just drag and drop the Feral-Heart from your Windows 7 computer to your Windows 10? If that's the case, that may be where the disconnection is manifesting from. I, myself got a Windows 10 Dell laptop recently and faced the same issue. If you haven't already attempted to re-download the game, calling it something different than the Feral-Heart files you brought over (as you don't want to lose/merge one), may I recommend it?

It may not do much but if there's newer files or ones Windows 10 will download automatically to support Feral-Heart, it'll bring it over during the download. This doesn't mean you cannot keep all older information from your Windows 7 Feral-Heart. Just drag and drop in the correct folders and redo an .cgf files (aka markings/items/sounds/weather) you may have dabbled in prior to the switch.

If what I spoke wasn't the case, I would still recommend re-downloading it.

Game Help / Connected to the Front Server | Characters Won't Load
« on: January 06, 2016, 04:56:51 am »
Good afternoon again,

I am aware this thread hasn't been responded to in a little over a month, but as of January 3rd, 2016, I believe I found a possible solution (out of many) to the problem this thread focuses on. Before I proceed to the explanation however, allow me to make something clear. The following context is not written to poke at anyone or their idea(s); it is a statement on how I mended my missing characters/disconnection. It may interlace other's ideas but it is not my intention to belittle them.

It's a combination of all the solutions stated on this thread: internet connection, web browser and extensions. If the connection falters during the duration one attempts to connect, the needed communication from the game to the "new cookie" (update) will not be made, resulting in the loss of server connection or missing characters. If the web browser blocks said communication, such as Firefox, the results are mimicking. So as recommended by others who've responded, check the browser being used to connect- if it's disabling the needed connection I aforementioned, and make sure there's a decent internet speed. If that includes the router (mine did not), restart it and attempt again. As for the extensions, that goes hand in hand with a fourth factor I did not mentioned. It is regarded as the "spitting out" of the new update's login screen. I once would have agreed to such a title, as it becomes it, but I believe there's a better way to describe the action. Instead of spit, it renders.

After both tabs were open (the update's screen login and FeralHeart.exe) and after I logged into both, the former before the latter, the game rendered my login information. It then sent the request to login out and once accepted, brought me to the character loading screen, which brings us back to the reason we're reading this thread. It was blank. Though it's probable those facing this current problem are about to disagree, speaking it doesn't work, I returned to the tab one needs to keep open to successfully play Feral-Heart, to witness it'd logged me out. Confused I re-logged and entered my login information again. It took a few minutes and several refreshes of said page, but the characters finally showed. The same process happened when I selected the character I wanted to use; it asked me to re-log.

The new update renders the login information- uses it as a token, much like an arcade game. When the credit is used, it wants the player to enter another token (in regards to Feral-Heart: login information) to continue. However, if the process of entering another token takes too long, all credits (Feral-Heart: connection) are lost. Then the player is presented with "Game Over" (Feral-Heart: "server cannot connect"). It takes forever (me approximately 40-60 minutes each time I switch maps/characters) and constant "game over" screens, but with patience, I can use the program.

If one is serious about using Feral-Heart and you've found yourself with this issue, attempt this solution. It may not work, but it's an option. Should you use it though, I recommend using the browser Chrome and downloading these two extensions: auto-refresh and auto-login. I'll link them below.

To be honest, it hasn't made the amount of time it takes me to access the game shorter but it has brought the probability up. Not to mention, if it does request me to re-log while I'm in the game, it does so automatically. There's no more random disconnections mid-game, which I am absolutely thankful of as it's 40 to 60 minutes I do not have to spend reconnecting.

Here's the update I stated I'd make in my previous passage. The re-downloading of the game had no effect.

Auto-Login
Auto-Refresh [Set: 30-50 seconds]

PS. The reason behind the duration between this post and my last is a) I didn't want to give false facts, b) a mindless, unnecessary post and c) at first, I was under the illusion nothing was wrong with the login screen. It wasn't until January 3rd, 2015, I discovered the "rendering" and found the pattern aforementioned. Prior to this discovery, the updates screen continuously displayed it's infamous idiom; it did not change unless forced (aka refreshed).

Game Help / Re: Connected to front server, but won't load any characters
« on: December 07, 2015, 12:38:06 pm »
Good afternoon everyone,

I am currently facing the same problem and I can tell you, from the three solutions listed, it's unlikely it's one of the first two: your internet or router (if you have a good connection). I recently got a new router and boosted the speed of our internet; I had the issue before and thereafter. It could be the game, a missing file or link of some sort but as above, seems unlikely.

If your game ran before, it only stopping recently (after the update, which I am grateful of as it allows those whom used Feral-Heart as a method of relief to continue acting as their support), then all files necessary should still be in tact, otherwise it wouldn't have ran properly. Am I correct? I can vouch for this as I recently was forced to re-download the game; got a new computer. Now given, this was a month back but since then, I haven't messed with the internal files it downloaded alongside the base programming. I would have, had I been more like my younger self, engrossed in creating maps and presets. Anyway!

I shall be attempting to re-download the game tomorrow. I cannot say if it'll work but I'll update you on the results should those partaking in this thread be interested; though, I assume it's already been done by one of the participants. If so, any luck?

While this issue is being sorted, I'm looking forward to reading all possible solutions. Feral-Heart's grown on me, as much as I omission to concede such.

Other Mods/Creations / Absolutely Amazing
« on: November 06, 2014, 01:09:59 pm »
I understand this post has been created for some time now but I was looking throughout Feral-Heart's forum considering I have't for quite some time and I came across your interface change. It took me some time to stop gawking so permit me to commend you for your work. It's absolutely fantastic--beyond so! Heavens, I cannot construct the words I would like to speak. It's just magical. If only said magic could be found throughout Feral-Heart. Now that, would be a day I would love to see.

Keep up the great work; you're amazing.~

Game Help / Re: Preset Issue
« on: October 11, 2013, 10:42:33 am »
I am resolute that the .fhp file has been exported to the correct folder and the "Angarika_7.fhp" file in which the preset is connected to are in both mine and my receivers "Presets" folder. What's confusing is this matter has happened before when I've tried exporting my other presets. It's always gone smooth until someone downloads it and there's a mishap between connections because those who've gotten the file cannot view my character or it's newly created cover.

Yes ma'am, I am the sole creator and actually have every program I used to create the preset on standby. I tend to sometimes go back to re-due them once the avatar grows in-character; though, I haven't done so yet because of this complication.

I thank you for the advice and attempt to solve this issue.

Sincerely,
Angarika/Blakyhart/Bludneva.
