Kuni crept forward, her lips parted in a snarl. She slid silently over to the sea-lion pup, but it looked up. She darted behind a rock, just barely missing detection. Panting lightly, she cautiously started her approach again. She was within striking distance when a seagull alerted the sea-lion to her presence by cawing wildly. Barking something under her breath, she leapt at the fleeing sea-lion. It whined once, but Kuni had it in her trademarked death-grip. It was quick, and mostly painless for the animal.
Although it was just prey, she had never liked killing young creatures. It went against her nature to nurture, which flowed strong in her. But at least the tribe could eat.
