How to Make Black Square Particles
« on: June 21, 2018, 04:05:04 pm »
Hello everyone,

I am working on the next map in my huge Super Smash Bros. Map Pack for my group, and in this map I would like a weather cycle that has black particles rising from the ground. They would operate similarly to the particles in Twilight Princess, but every time I try to load the particle in the sky maker, it's invisible. When I lighten the particle the squares are white, but when I make them black they are invisible. Is there a way I can make the black particles visible?

the game renders pure black as transparent in particles and some textures. eg: the moon and sun

try making the texture a dark blue (or any color as long as it's dark). if it appears as a pure white chunk then that means the particle is present but there's an error with the material file's code.

i made black particles.  Instead of' scene_blend add' use 'scene_blend alpha_blend'.  As long as the squares take up the whole of the .jpg or .png you won't get areas of invisible water/invisiblegrass on things behind at the edge of the particle.
The Japanese concept of wabisabi:
The closest concept in english would be 'rustic'
They might have an old thing, one example is a favourite bowl or dish, it's broken, pieces are missing, why fix it?  With gold and pieces from other dishes?
"Because it was my favourite & I like it"
