Rendering System and crashes
« on: March 28, 2017, 10:38:30 pm »
Hello! I downloaded a map that is incredible and lovely. It's a pack that has three maps. Two of the three work but whenever I go into the third one, my game crashes with the whole "Feralheart.exe" thing. I contacted the creator and they suggested to change the rendering system, but with that white screen that comes up whenever the game crashes, OpenGL is no longer there, only Direct3D9 or whatever. When I go to the options menu in-game, OpenGL is an option, but it never stays. Why doesn't OpenGL pop up on that screen as an option anymore?

Could be that you need to edit in your Ogre.cfg file. Open the ogre.cfg file under C:\FeralHeart with the program called Notepad. You should get something that looks like this:

What you do is make the ogre.cfg file look like that. So, right next to the "Render System=" at the top, you would put "OpenGL Rendering Subsystem"

Make sure you save and then exit the cfg file!

I'm confused. I used to be able to switch from system to system, but now I'd have to type that stuff in to switch between the two?

Update: I figured out the Rendering thing, but the map still crashes. Does anyone know a possible solution?

You could always go into your particles folder and delete anything ending in _0 or _1. But usually if there were duplicates it would crash your game right away. So it sounds like you may just have a corrupted file somewhere in that certain map. You could always try reinstalling the map and making sure everything is in its proper place.

I'd reinstall the map's files if I were you, lad. It sounds like one of the files somehow got messed up, or perhaps you accidentally missed one when transferring them from the download folder to your FeralHeart folder. Make sure you've placed all the files in the proper areas as well, ESPECIALLY .sky or .weather files.
