Hight Map tips? (And question about Masks)

I am a beginner with hight maps. I got them to work but could you guys give me some tips on making them? Like how to make a big and smooth hill, how to make edges smoother then just using blur. Just tips on making good hight maps.  I would greatly appreciate it.

Also what are all 6 colors that u would use in masks? I know that there is Red Green and Blue but what would the others be? (If there is even others)

Well I don't know much about height maps since I don't make them myself, (too lazy) but I do know the basics. All I can tell you is that to smooth out edges, you can use blur and smudge tools. White is for the highest areas (hills/cliffs/ridges), black is for the lowest (lakes/oceans/valleys). Just use your creativity and I'm sure your maps will turn out great. :3 I'm assuming you have all the settings correct since you got them to work, so good job on that one.

As for the masks, I believe the colors are just Red, Green, and Blue.

Oh ok, thanks. I thought there would be more colors for masks because in map maker u can pick up to 6 diffrent terrain textures.
