I bet it is going to look amazing. 13 maps are a lot of work, but I'm sure you can tackle the task. The concept of connecting cities together is also neat one. Good luck in your creations.

I felt like crying too when I saw that someone had posted the soundtracks. Heck, if my PS2 hadn't broken then I would probably still be playing the game now. XD I remember all the animals in the game (snakes, vultures, bears, komodo dragons, etc) scared me to death back then.
Anyway, there's going to be some delay in making maps due to the fact that GIMP is acting up.

EDIT: Fixed the problem with GIMP, map making is now back underway! I'll post some screenshots of nearly finished or sort of finished maps soon!
