Why are my graphics messed up

I always seem to have trouble playing my games. Whenever I start out playing, my graphics of my avvie and even my screen sometimes on one side will be messed up. my character on the other hand, always has this shade of black, if i zzom in on the body its gone. On the face, I can't see how to make my canine/felines mood, Even how to pick a pattern for the tail also. Is there any way to change this? Do I need to change my settings? Please help!!

The easiest thing you can try is to go into the options menu inside the game and set your rendering submode to Direct3D9.

Restart the game, and see if it helped.

If it didn't. I'd try and see if I could update the graphic card drivers.

Thank you, since I played before it was working fine til the next couple weeks and I just get lags, I do have (DSL) idk if that has anything to do with it and bad graphic models. sometimes my colors don't work either. But thanks again, I'll try the what you told me.
