Poems / Crin's Sturff
« on: February 17, 2012, 08:25:39 am »
Erm... WIP. Big time. This is basically my dump of words and poems and other such things. And stuff. The original two I posted were removed. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated....

GUYS LOOK I WON AN HONORABLE MENTION ON MY FIRST SCHOLASTIC ENTRY AND I CAN'T EVEN. *coughs* Click here if interested.

Our Truth
What is a word? The barest of thoughts, the deepest of feelings, and all inbetween on whispered breaths or shouted snarls. Words have lost their meaning, things considered weak given the current world. Pretty. Nice. Strong. Who has decided that those words have lost their power that they held once upon a time? Power fades, if allowed the chance to. Likewise, so does it grow. Phrases spoken on harsh snaps and gentle whispers. Words target emotions, be it for better or for worse. How silly to think that a mere sound that has been created into a language could cause the most innocent of children to become stoic and grow to fast, or bring a grown man to his knees in tears. Such is the way the world is built. Civilizations born and destroyed in the same breath, the same speaker. I love you. I hate you. So small, those three little words. And yet, their power is so great to so many. Such things play on emotions, creates energy from energy. So while a word may simply be no more or less than that in reality, the emotional aspect of it will be the thing to create the energy. The nature of those creations, however, again plays on emotion, be it a case of world-spread genocide or the treaty that will end a war. So to the stoic, the melodramatic, the torn, the peaceable, the world: Listen to what others have to say. The things heard may just be beautiful, beautiful and sad.

Paper Cities

A world of paper cities and keychain lighting
Held stiff by copious amounts of glue and tape
Never changing, never growing
Falling skyscrapers touch the sky
Bending backwards in the reality of naught
Tearing
Breaking
Hollow
Facades of something that never existed
Yet it always will and always has been
Will the paper world stand tall
Long enough to see the flashlight sun?
A warped reality based upon another
A warped world based on one that had already fallen
Plastic
Distractions
Regretless

Let's see...

So, the object of the game is to "diagnose" the person above you based on what they tell you about themselves. For example:

My name is Crin. Nice to meet you! Usually I spend my time eating waffles. String cheese is also quite good. Do you think that the sky is purple and made of hedgehogs? Sally, my friend, does.

Now, your message can be as short or as long as you like, as realistic or as non-realistic as you like.

So tell me, what is my diagnosis? The correct answer (though there could be many): The last letter in the sentence began my new sentence. CriN > Nice... yoU > Usually... waffleS>...

Get the idea? It may be something in repeat, or it may be something as simple as using only four lettered words or saying the names of domestic animals. Okay, let's start off with something simple enough.

Hello, my name is Lily. My favorite color is Lavander. Do you like my freesia perfume? I have a little sister named Daisy.

Have at it? And if you just can't get, post that you give up and post your own.

Other Mods/Creations / Object Request

So... I'm just requesting an equip in case anyone gets very, very bored.

But... What about tribal-like feathers? That can be equipped at the nape of the neck of behind an ear. Or something. Such as...

Yes, well. If anyone is capable of creating such a thing, please let me know ^.^

As listed in the ads "Samdor Torn is an active, longterm, literate, and realistic mapped lion and wolf RP with a site and developed plot. Choose from three tribes to take back Samdor with." Yes, my ads leave a lot to be desired. I am aware. Also, do note: I'm taking the following information right off of the site. Which needs to be updated. It sounds far more formal than it actually is. In truth, this is my motto:

The map is mine. The RP idea is mine. The group falls under my name. But the plot, the characters... This belongs to those of the group, not me. The future for this world is not set. It's up to you to write the history of this place, to change what has always been.

So have at it, will you? And you can just skim the next parts, no worries xD

The Backstory:

First of all, the past is not as important as the future, the present. Basically, in the simplest of forms: Long ago, probably to escape an ice age or something similar, the three tribes lived underground... in the Underground, as it is known when we RP. The core of the earth began to burn out, and under the earth they'd die if they didn't return to a place they'd long since forgotten, the World Above, or, for the rest of us, Earth. So before sending the the tribe to the surface, the three tribe leader looked through their history books to discover that there were other tribes. So, yes, the tribes had no real knowledge of each other. Ancient passes had been made, back to the World Above, and that's where the tribes left from. Now. Men and older boys stayed down in the Underground. They stayed to fight, to kill. It became a killing game. The goal was to kill as many as possible from the other tribes so that their own tribe could thrive in the new world.

And now that I made the RP sound like a war RP, let me clear some things up. The past is exactly that: The past. Very few things in the RP truly depend on it, actually. The key point here is that the tribes have been feuding ever since this.

The Tribes

Ilikoy: Pronounced "ill-i-koi", these are one of the two main canine groups in Samdor. Ilikoy life is a rather peaceful one, it seems, accepting of outsiders and forgiving of wrongdoers. Most Ilikoy lead a civilized, content life with phases of that life. They are cared for when they are young, well and lovingly. When they grow older, they begin courtship and are put through many tests to determine what their pack place will be. Once they are given their rank they are free to live as they please as long as they fulfill their duties. Many Ilikoy choose to find a mate at this phase in their life whom they keep for life. Most pairs also chose to have pups then as well. They are not to be mistaken as soft, fragile creatures, however. Many are highly trained in some defensive art and art quite calculative, creating a deadly, skilled warrior when provoked.

Muteras: Pronounced "moo-ta-raz", these canines are quite the opposite of the Ilikoy, though they look similar in body structure. Muteras life is a relatively lawless life. Unlike the neat infrastructure of the Ilikoy, there seems to only be a leader or leaders, if they are a mated pair. Most Muteras' are born with protection, though they learn to grow up on their own. They are rather violent and crazed creatures, living in harsh conditions on their own. Fights frequently break out, and those killed are not mourned for long. Their sport is killing in all of its' forms, no matter the prey. Savage and willing to fight to the death, they do not hold close relationships as, at any moment, their mate, friend, or pup could be slain. Born for war, they tend to have no real laws or worries.

"Speak your mind, look out for yourself. The answer to it all is a life of wealth. Grab all you can 'cause you just live once. You've got the right to do whatever you want. Don't worry about others or where you came from. It ain't what you were, it's what you've become." ~ What Have we Become by DC Talk

Takyions: Pronounced "tack-ee-ons", these are the different predators of the land; the felines. These creatures are normally larger than the canines of Samdor, though their strength, stamina, and other such qualities appear to be the same general range. Takyions' have a loose range of laws that everyone does seem to follow well, though the laws are of the most basic disciplines. They raise their cubs decently enough and most survive to adulthood. They have ranks in society, though less than the Ilikoy. Fights, while they occur often enough, do not end in tragedy for the post part. Takyions' mourn their lost and protect their families, though family to family relations are not as strong. The bulk of Takyion society is located within the mountainous regions of Samdor.

Keapy: If one is a keapy, they are of the lowest possible in society. They are loners, banished from their lands on the charges of horrible crimes or treasonous acts. Keapys range from being weak, scrawny beings to huge, hulking monsters. The weaker die off soon after losing their status to a tribe, while the larger, more skilled ones fight for their honor back, for the few scattered dens that some can get away with staying in, and for the mates that can give them their life back. If a child is born a keapy, their family may request to gain status as a Muteras, or a Takyions if they're feline. The Ilikoy do not accept Keapys unless only a pup wishes to join.

Now to tell you how I've broken the above "rules" to the RP:
As if to prove how easy-going we are here, let me go through quite a list here:
  • My main character, the Ilikoy alphess, was just saved by and is now a rather love/hate relationship with a rather arrogant Keapy.
  • One of the fist things that happened was a minor war between the Takions and the Ilikoy tribes that the Muteras actually stayed out of.
  • There have been... two overthrows now in the Muteras tribe, I believe.
  • One of the Ilikoy, and she is of high rank mind you, is sneaking off to see a Muteras. Just wait till Kae finds out, Meki xD
  • There was actually a pact betwen the Muteras and Ilikoy.
  • The Ilikoy are rather falling apart, actually.

So now what?

Firstly, I will need an RP sample. Be it through PM or a comment below, I do need one. Secondly I would need to know which tribe you'd be interested in joining. We currently need new felines! By that I mean any large(ish) cat! Thirdly... well, yes, that pretty much covers it. I would like an RP sample before I show you the site as I do not want trolling issues. How active you ask? There's a group that is on everyday. Yes. About 5 of us are on every day. The other 30 or so are on at least 3 times a week. If you have issues with meeting that, just tell me and we'll work something out.

For now, I think, that is it...

Postscript: Crin does not bite! Often. Well... even when she does, it's more like a nibble for taste testing... Hmm... Either way, don't be afraid to comment or PM her. She will not bite your head off!

Game Help / Major Graphics Issue... Can anyone help?
« on: January 27, 2012, 07:52:48 am »
So I have a major graphics issue, as the title would tell you. Well, "major" being a bit strong, but none the less. Anyway. So as you can see from the screenshot, I have this layer of black or white around the tree leaves and such and such. I actually just learned this recently when I was showing someone some beta shots of a mod pack I was working on as they were wondering if the pack would make their graphics look that way. So I've had this issue for over a year now, apparently, when I first downloaded FH. I have never had anything other than this. Is there any possible way for me to fix this? I have rarely messed around with the textures of plants, and even when I have it would not hold true forever, correct? Especially since I've only just started messing around with textures. When I open up the image file, so yes I go into my objects, trees, oakleaf, and open it,it does not show the black. So.... make what you will of it? I run the latest version of windows and have a newer PC, if that makes a difference in any way. Much thanks -Crin

Other Mods/Creations / Searching for: A texture...mod... something Pack.
« on: January 21, 2012, 01:51:29 am »
So I was wondering if there were any "texture" packs for feral heart? I Don't mean in the terms of ground, I mean the way buttons, chat boxes, portals, etc look. Really, anything is helpful. Thank ya in advance.~

Game Help / Map Textures Not Working Right Outside of Map-Maker?
« on: January 12, 2012, 08:43:59 pm »
So I was making a map, not big in dimensions, really. I did download multiple mods, though no particles or water edits. In the map maker everything works and looks fine. Upon exporting, however, the terrain mask fails me in a strange way. While everything else runs good, the actual ground is off. It's as if it fails to register my RGB scale. Even then, it's not that. It's not as if where I put red for instance is only colored and everything else is black. No. It's all one shade, going from very bright in some places to black in others. I'm not sure what this is or why it's doing that or, quite obviously, how to fix it.

Much thanks in advance~

Game Discussion / Crazy Bad Lag
« on: December 14, 2011, 02:45:34 pm »
My issue
So... let's try and describe what I'm currently experiencing. First and foremost, I have the worst lag in the history of lag. "Oh, do you?" You may ask in a rather sarcastic tone, and yes, I do.

Lag of Doom includes:
  • When I bring up the game, I have to type my password in character by character and make sure that it registers, otherwise it will skip over letters and not log me in.
  • Moving the camera view, moving, and portal-ing are all big no-no's.
  • I generally just cannot do anything.

What I have done:
  • Downloaded FH and the patch though not FH+ because that will kill my poor computer
  • Uninstalled and then reinstalled FH and the patch. Multiple times
  • I currently have no mods on my FH at all. No maps, no presets, nothing.
  • I did follow the tutorial about cores and such. I have a quad core computer. Sadly, it helped me not.

So...?

What do you mean, so? I can't do a thing. It was fine until Kovu started doing some in game updates and such. Then I had a small amount of lag, though nothing horrible. Then yesterday (12-13) I logged out to switch characters and faced the worst lag of my life. What more can I do? Give up? Do something more to the cores? Beat it with a toaster? Hoard pop-tarts in my blender? Go hunting for a gelatinous cube? I'm at a loss.
