Forum Discussion / User Authority Change?
« on: December 26, 2016, 05:13:44 pm »
Have any of you noticed something odd?
I've been seeing members subtly pushing authority over other members, with things like them "giving permission" or "rejecting permission" to ideas; characters, and topics. It's honestly making me uncomfortable and I feel like I'm being pushed behind others in words of status at some points. Not sharing names and such, but it seems like some users must make a reply to a topic before other replies on that topic can happen- or that the entire positive or negative response to the topic depends on that member's response.

Thoughts?

Discussion Board / Have you ever "cheated" in a game?
« on: December 16, 2016, 01:29:45 am »
By when I mean cheat, I mean either use a bot or use side characters to gather the starter's xp resources or special money (for farming). In topic, this is only in question for massive multiplayer online games that have went back on their free to play customers and went buy to win.

I've certainly done it. I used Archeage's simple need for a new email for every account and farm gilda stars all day on side characters. I also tend to use my side characters as storage and leave the side character afk all night, gathering labor points so that I can use them for a specific task such as farming and all.

It's quite ingenious, how us gamers get sneaky when the game makers get unfair, eh?

Share some of your stories, I'd love to hear ideas. Lmao.

Character & Roleplay Tutorials / Some Tips On Becoming A Successful Group
« on: November 11, 2016, 02:09:29 am »
welcome! i hope that you either agree to these sets to a point or disagree with proven factual evidence.

================================

I.) The Creation

=>Do Not Follow Cliches
Unless you truly wish for a generic group that you've seen others doing; don't do it. It ends badly, always has unless you have god-like charismatic tendencies. If you are part of the members before the update; you've probably seen a lot of generic wolf packs. Do you see them around nowadays? Probably not. That's because they followed along with trends they saw others were doing.

=>Establish Social Media
Social media is a grand way to settle down rules; ranks, plots, and any other little bells and whistles you like to your group. It also promotes a bit of activity and more communication with other members. I highly recommend this for you stay in touch with members a lot more. A few grand social media toys that are for free; sites: proboards, webs, weebly. chats: discord, chatzy, skype.

=>Establish The Basic Bones
Now that you have somewhere you can put information; it's time to settle on the basic bones. Basic bones include a plot or no plot, ranks, rules, biographies, religion, and more. Creating a group takes a massive effort and you need to take it one step of a time. Include the descriptions after you have made the basic bones.

=>Find Two Loyal Allies
You cannot create a successful group alone. Make sure you have at least one to two allies that are active and willing to get down and dirty and help you with ideas. Make sure to choose the one to two friends carefully for they possibly will be part of your basic social structure.

II.) Tips For Oneself

=>Establish Balance Within Yourself.
Do not be a control freak with your group: (Eg: making them stick to their character 7 times a week and 12 hours online doing something per week; including strict activity rules and strict out of character rules.) However, be firm and make sure that your control is strong enough to calm down a rowdy crowd if something goes down. (I have an old friend whom wasn't firm enough with a realistic pack and a few of her members went on a rampage.)

=>Stick With What You Say.
When you promote activity, be on at a certain hour for so many minutes or hours and do it regularly. No matter if you don't get many members the first week/days you need to stick with the group. People /will/ be looking at your movie clips and if they see that activity they may change their mind instead of just ignoring your movie clip and attempt to join. If you say you are semi realistic; make sure that you don't force strict rules on your characters. (Eg: "THAT IS TOO PINK! TURN IT RED!" <- this is the negative example of what not to do)

=>Don't Become A God
Don't say that your words are law and that they must bow down their will to you. Don't put your character on a pedestal and make them impersonal unless that is part of their /complete being./ A leader needs to have at least one positive quality over their negatives and being a family-type wolf that establishes a strong leadership output will get you members.

=>Create An Attractive Leader
Although Mr. Black everywhere with white stripes and is skinny would be alright as a member pack; he's not going to drag in members. Having an attractive leader will make others subconsciously click on your bio and check out your group. This doesn't mean you need to make it a male or massive; just make sure that it /attracts/ possible members. Good fur and good markings, an interesting bio and a well-rounded and interesting member will draw in a lot of people like flies.

=>Let Your Members Call You Out On Your Turds
No leader is perfect, and you may not notice if you are extending a control-freak attitude unless you let your members call you out on it. Let them have their opinions and let you have yours, but remember that a good group of members makes an outstanding leader.

In-Game Roleplay & Group Advertisement / Heathens
« on: September 10, 2016, 03:00:26 am »
i'm currently unsure if i should pursue this or not, since it will take up a majority of my free time that is not taken away from high school (studying, school hours), exercise (exploring my town, meeting new people + friends), job time (so that i can prepare to actually drive a car next year, essentially.) and i am unsure if it's fine w/ the feral heart staff in general (why i am coming here; treading soft ground) but i have had this idea for quite a long time and really wish to pursue it.

before all that i say this, this idea is mine. i created it, and none can copy it without my permission even if it gets denied by the feral heart staff. (whom i love dearly)

essentially, it would be a community within feral heart that does not strictly follow feral heart's rules since this will be for teens (14+ up) to only join. it would allow some cursing unless used against members within the community, sensitive topics unless told to drop it, and grey areas. it would be more mature and loose about the rules? but it would be in its' own private maps with full consent from both sides of parties (parents, teenagers, community.) which is why i am unsure about it.

so, there would be officially appointed staff (such as map-makers, moderators, etc.) so that i'm not starved of all my free time that's needed for preparation in the future. (i'm part of the student government and running for class treasurer of 2020 you see, and i'm planning out a club of my own for my own future, along with aiming to put full effort into all my classes + socialization.)

there would be groups for role-plays, such as the main pack within the maps would be called the heathens and they would have their own territory for they are official (there would also be applications for a group to become official!) and official packs would get their own territories. packs would be able to fight for neutral ground territory, and the terrain (maps) would be edited monthly to fit the role-play groups (packs) setting. so, role-plays that made it to be official would have a say (IC!) on how terrain wars would work.

(tl;dr) essentially a small community set aside with permission by the feral heart community that lets official role play groups fight for territory!!!

i'm not going to touch this much (at all!) until i can get the staff's full consent since this might approach a few grey areas and i'm unsure on how they want to handle this if it becomes large and popular.

i thought this idea would help with wolf packs that have nothing to do in the maps because not a lot of packs interact! i also thought it would be an interesting role play idea, (shrugs)

anywho, i'll let the staff lock/delete/move/whatever to this (sorry if that's offensive, i'm just trying to say i really don't mind if you can't find a place or it doesn't fit in) and if they say no or not; i'll just shelf this idea for a game i'll create when i'm an adult and am an actual professional game maker. (huff, huff) let me just rest my 76 words per minute hands for a bit.

i'll touch on this more tomorrow or later tonight, right now i'm setting up a site and tumblr so that people can ask me questions about everything. :)

Other Mods/Creations / Emotes
« on: August 22, 2016, 10:39:57 pm »
I'm working on creating a load of emotes for this wolf pack I'm creating called "The Castle." I think I'm now moderate at making emotes, such as subtle to intense emotes (shrugs).

Give me ideas!

If I like the emote type, I'll create it; add it to my set of emotes I'm adding, and PM you the emote coding!

Go go go! Lol

Forum Games / Is it normal?
« on: June 12, 2016, 05:57:43 pm »
A simple and fun game to play that will let you know new stuff about people.  ;D

Alright: so here is how it goes.

The person below shall respond this way:
Yes, it's normal!
I have two large freckles on my face, is it normal?

The person below shall respond with an answer if it's normal or not, and then say something about themself. :D

I clip all of my fingernails to the base (where it protects blood) except for the pointer finger and the one next to it. (not the thumb.) Is it normal?

Videos / Tour
« on: June 10, 2016, 04:05:07 am »
I will be creating a simple Feral-Heart video that will showcase all of the maps me and my dear friend know as of this moment (this will happen sometime tomorrow). I will first create a simple video on my own of what I've discovered(as soon as I can tonight, will probably stay up the whole night for you floofs), and then will update with a more matured video of everything. Please keep attention to this for now, I will bump when ready!

By the way, if anyone wishes to join me in my tour, feel free to add me as a friend

Game Discussion / The Manual
« on: June 10, 2016, 02:17:22 am »
Since this update seems to have a LOT more to it with territories and such, I believe it is in our best interest in the whole community to create a manual for all new members so they do not get too lost. This would include on map locations, and how to get to certain areas.

Likewise, as a friend of mine got a tour from one of the mods, this would not be very realistic in the long-term.

Thoughts?
