Finished Maps / Vortex's Forest Arena

Vortex's Forest Arena


Greetings everyone! I've made a small map inspired by Gui's mechanicat themed arena and Kuri's meatworks arena(Though I never got to check Kuri's map out. xD). This is a small and simple map intended for duels that also has a few spots for casual play. c:

Specs:
- Will only load from 1 object file, so that it only loads what it needs and nothing more.
- Size is the default 5000 width.
- Detailed enough to not feel empty, not detailed enough to slow down my super old backup laptop. :'D
- Only the default feralheart objects were used.
- Uses a 6-layer terrain Mask, so there are 6 textures used for the terrain.
- Has 1 den, 1 meeting area, 2 waterfalls, 1 hunting area, and 2 lakes spread across 2 islands within a crater-like area. Mind the walls, they're meant for any observers and aren't supposed to exist in a roleplay. xD
- The .zip size is 5.32 MB.
- It takes less than 2 seconds to load the map on my end. :D

Sharing an idea that came out of a discussion a while back about the different ways maps can be installed.

A "Resource Manager" window.

It would allow you to modify the resources.cfg while being in-game.

The idea was mainly to allow enabling and disabling of lines in [UnofficialTerrains] by adding/removing a # at the beginning of a line like this:


and having downloaded maps in folders like this:


This can already be done out-of-game, the main thing here would be to 're-load' files while still playing the game and have an interface in the game so you can comfortably change which portals show up in Cape of Distant Worlds without having to close anything or tab away.

However, it being the resources.cfg, it could open more ways to freely customize the game. Example:
Changing which 'media' folder to load for different interfaces/music/map maker saves/anims/etc

I've been messing around with presets both to and fro for a long time now and I've known for a long time, ever since I exported my first preset actually, that you can export your presets with a different username by typing a different username in the login box before exporting. This method is a great way to make custom presets for others without exposing all of your hard work to potential reworks or worse if you didn't desire that.

I've been wanting to know what everyone's thoughts on this was so what do you think about it?

Media / Combat Calculator (DONE! 4m/12d/19y)

Anyone interested in an RPG themed Combat Calculator? I imagine it could be used for board games (Risk? Maybe in an rp? Idk use your imagination brain!) and such or perhaps just some messing around to see what would happen when certain stats are set.

Some notes about how certain things work, these are not glitches:
> Blocking: Uses the physical resistance value. If physical resistance is 0, you will take around half the damage when blocking.
> Elemental Damage: Every time you are hit with an element, it adds your opponents damage to the elemental damage stack and continues to stack endlessly.

The oopsies I found and patched... xD
buildversion:1.01 -- fixed player1's model not being disabled when knocked out.
buildversion:1.02 -- fixed player1's blocking message displaying the wrong number.
buildversion:1.03 -- fixed blocking not being calculated correctly.
buildversion:1.04 -- fixed bug where player1 would be disabled but player2 still attacked. fixed healthbar updates happening every frame, they now only update when necessary.
buildversion:1.05 -- changed the default stats. fixed player1's knockout message appearing after the roll ended. changed how blocking works again, it should feel more like actually blocking now but still relies on the resistPhysical value while adding its own damage reduction. fixed the first time startup being in fullscreen, it's not supposed to do that.

Praise / A moment to appreciate the efforts of the updates.

I went exploring the other day to get familiar with the maps again and had a nostolgic feeling to explore the old maps as well. While I was exploring I noticed something... the new maps are extremely detailed compared to the old ones!

Sorry about not keeping in touch, ugh I feel so bad about that, like you'd feel if you were responsible for cooking dinner but somehow managed to forget it was cooking and all the food, including the pot, ended up burnt, ughhh -facedesk-. It's not all bad though, I learned some new things while I was away and managed to make a playable prototype-game(It was only made so I could test scripts and make them better for future projects), I'll share it here because I feel like it could be at least a little fun, just be prepared for a crappy horror theme xD.

This has been brought up many times during my stay in FeralHeart... I think it's time we talked about it seriously.

What does General do?
General Chat allows you to send and recieve messages from anyone anywhere in the map you are currently in, resulting in quite a useful chat for advertising and socializing in general.

Now let's look at what Local does...
Local Chat allows you to use the Lyp Sync feature and only send and recieve messages from people within range of you. Not so great for communicating but amazing for Role Playing.

Some things that I encountered...

My thought: There's no denying it, you'll always have spammers and trolls. Want some advice? Do NOT say anything to them (Doing so is literally asking for trouble...); Just take a screenshot that shows the chat (Do NOT edit it!) and report them to a staff member (Be sure to be as detailed as possible!).

I miss General, it was great for advertising role plays.
My thought: It was great for two things and misconcieved as being meant for only one of them.

The Movie spam is real...
My thought: You can turn the Movie chat off very easily to allow yourself to see other messages from the other chats. This is, in my opinion, not as big a problem as people make it out to be. For that matter, the same can be said for EVERY other chat.
Extra thought: Sometimes they aren't even advertisements... hidden by an uninformative "has made a Movie Clip" message...

So... The big question is...



What does everyone else truly think/believe about this? Besides Spam/Trolling.
