Where's the Sun Radiance?
« on: May 13, 2017, 05:40:42 am »
Why can't I get the Sun Radiance to show up? What could be stopping the Sun Radiance? Could it be that I've made my own version of the sun? Or could it be that the sky can't handle the prettiness of my version of the Sun Radiance?

Here it is: Is it too pretty for the sky?

I do have a sky mod installed that did involve me replacing the Sky.material.

Is there any way to get my Sun Radiance to be visible again?

My presets.

Try changing the Sun Radiance to a grayscale image file in your image editing software. I noticed the the Sun Radiance file appears to be grayscale. Do you know how to change the color mode to grayscale?

Yes I do, I am an avid mapmaker who has solved a Heightmap crash that same way.

But won't that get rid of the color? That sun radiance in only black and white would look a bit weird unless the sun is in black and white too, as it is meant to look like the sun is exploding.

But I really like the sound of a black and white sun.

Ahh good good! I'm thinking the Sun Radiance brightens the color of the sky around it which is why the file for the default Sun Radiance is grayscale.

In the sky.material file, the SunRadiance material has a scene_blend add pass:
"scene_blend add: The colour of the rendering output is added to the scene. Good for explosions, flares, lights, ghosts etc." -Ogre Material manual

From what I understand from that is the grayscale lighter shades (like white and light grays) are "added" ontop of the blue sky to make it appear brighter or appear like the sun is glowing, as it does. I hope that makes sense. ^^

Oh that's strange....hmm. I'd recommend replacing your sky.material file. You can download a replacement file in Bawfle's Back-up Default FeralHeart Folder Downloads.

Look for the materials folder only download on that page. It is under the section: Media folder sub-folders.
