Peter Hail
"The most important thing I can think right now is...Survival is the key to success..."

Slowly creeping out the door, Peter breathing started to became heavy. His guns loaded to fire and was held up, pointing for anything upcoming to face. Luckily, there was nothing for sight. The sun was up and beaming. Strangely the heat got even hotter then usual occasions. Anyway, Peter was now fully outside with his supplies over his shoulders. With the gun down by his side, he looked around the place he was now standing at. He definitely recognized this place, but it was now very different. Not sure where to go now, he bowed his head down and began to walk off, still not sure to go.

(Was rushing. I need to do HW and stuff. -Short and boring  for now- >.<)

Piper was not extremely bored, her legs up on the seat next to her and her head leaning on the arm rest. She pulls the pocket knife out of her belt and starts playing with it, carving a wood chunk she found a few days ago. "Jesus Christ, when is my turn gonna come!?" she hisses under her breath, tapping her boot toe on the arm rest were her foot was.

After about an hour, a voice comes over the intercom. "Piper Keefe. Number 115. Piper Keefe. Number 115." She jumps up, her blonde hair falling in waves down her back. As she walks up, the lady furrows her brows at the sight of her. A lot of people in the area knew of her and her little games of trouble making. She gives the lady a warm and sarcastic smile as she sends Piper into a room. She sits in one of the chairs, putting her feet on the table and waiting. Soon a man walks into the room, frowning at her feet on the desk. He says nothing and sits in the chair, folding his hands and looking at her. "Piper Keefe, age 19..." he whispers, staring at her. "The one and only!" she says, opening her arms like a gesture to herself. He huffs and moves on, "So Miss Keefe, you need a new room mate... Again?" he says, raising a brow and leaning back in his chair. "What did you do this time?" he asks, expecting another story of how she bribed her room mate into leaving. "Well if you must know Sir, my room mate made a smart remark so I sent him to the hospital." she says, smiling the entire time. The man's eyes widen and he shakes his head. "Alright... Let's see..." he mumbles, shuffling through paperwork of new arrivals. "Ah... Someone who reminds me much of yourself..." he says, passing the sheet to her. Placing her feet on the ground she looks down at the paper. There was a rather handsome man with the name of Declan Lozier. He was twenty years old with brown hair, tan skin and brown eyes. She smiles. "Yeah I like this kid already," she says, grabbing one of the pens on the table and signing her name at the bottom. "Good, you two will be moving in together in three days. Don't do anything stupid before-hand," the man remarks as Piper walks out of the room.

Nathaniel Hawthorne
"Sometimes before it gets better, the darkness gets bigger."

"Oh my God, what is that?!" A girl screamed, darting into the nearest dorm room available, which just happened to be his. She whipped the door shut, jamming the wood against itself, and shoved whatever she could find against it. Nathaniel just stood there, dumbfounded. He hadn't been made aware of any kind of pranks or projects going on during this week, so seeing a random girl come into his room freaked him out a bit. Plus, seeing the way she looked back at the door, he gathered that this wasn't exactly good-natured.

"Um, pardon, but what's going on?" He asked, tilting his head. "Why were you screaming, and what possessed you to throw yourself in here?" In all honesty, he hadn't had many visitors to his dorm; only the occasional friend coming by, asking if he'd like to go on a late night pizza run. Lately, though, he'd been having some odd feelings lately- feelings that something major was about to happen. So, often, he'd turn down the offers, instead staying in and trying to get rid of that odd sense of discomfort.

"Th-there's s-something out th-there. It w-was ch-chasing me." The girl flung herself at him, seeming to crumple in his arms. "I-it's probably st-still out there..."

As if on cue, a loud, terrifying scream came from the hallway, followed by strained moaning and crashing of glass. This caused the pair to look up, breathing hitched in their throats. Then, deafening silence, followed by hiccuping sobs and sharp intakes of breath. Nathaniel cautiously made his way to the door, grabbing the chair that was propped against it. (His room wasn't really furnished with much else. Just a chair, a table, and a huge dresser. Classes had just started and he didn't have much to show for it.) Carefully, he turned the knob on the door, yanking it back to free it from the frame, and poked his head out in the hallway. And what he saw horrified him.

In the hallway lay the bodies of his pizza run friends, various scratches, cuts, and bites on them. Each one laid with their eyes wide open and glossed over, like they'd been staring at something for too long and had lost focus. None of them carried any signs of life, which disturbed Nathaniel even more. The hallway was spattered with dark red, appearing black in the fluorescent lighting. Shivering, he slammed the door shut again, turning and sliding down the wood.

"G-get out of here," he stammered, hearing slow shuffling sounds from the hallway once again. "I don't know what's out there, but get out. Take the window." His window faced a decent sized tree, one that reached maybe twenty-five feet in height. "Climb down. I'll take care of this thing." He stood, breaking a leg off. The girl had already slid the window open and was making her way outside, gripping onto one of the boughs. "I'll be down, don't worry about me," he added, waiting until she was outside to open the door.

And on the other side stood his friends, pale and bloodied, with a lifeless look to their eyes. A deafening scream, and then...

Nathaniel awoke with a start, eyes wide and breathing rapid. His hands gripped the thin sheets that he'd placed on his bed, knuckles turning white from the amount of force being exerted. If it weren't for those sheets, he'd probably be digging his nails into his palms and making them bleed. He pressed his head back into the pillow, squeezing his eyes shut again, willing the horrible dream to disappear completely. Those last few moments- the girl getting into the tree, seeing his friends lunge at him, bashing one's head off and making a run for it- had a way of sticking with him, making him remember things that he didn't want to.

He glanced to his right, seeing that his roommate Aleksandr was still asleep. Well, you didn't wake him up. Good job, he thought to himself, whipping the sheets off and balling them in the corner. (He'd never seen the point in remaking a bed, just to mess it up again.) After sitting there for a few moments, he eventually decided to get up completely, rummaging through his bag for a new set of clothes to wear for the day. After changing, he stepped outside, peering around for a familiar face.

And of course, he didn't know anyone.

I hope everything is in tip-top shape. c;

Elijah Jayden Redwaters
Eli or EJ

Age;; 25
Gender;; Male
Nationality;; Pacific Islander-American
Sexuality;; Heterosexual

Likes;;
? Gazing out around him/Zoning out
? Staying up late or not sleeping at all (He is an insomniac)
? Straightforward people or actions

Dislikes;;
? Freezing weather
? Details
? Risking the lives of others

History;; The Redwaters clan was a homely one, living in the northern west coast, often dreamed of having children but weren't ever successful. They were in their late 40s, as Mrs. Redwaters was infertile, they had no hopes of actually reproducing one and instead, they've adopted three children all at different times. Elijah was actually the second child to be adopted as  the mischievous child often ran away from home in sunny California to avoid getting into conflicts with his single father that wasn't at all "grade A" material. As Elijah was growing more and more, nearing the age of 6, he was labeled as a delinquent and often missed school. It was soon discovered that Elijah faced abuse at home with a father that verbally abused him and at times almost physically (until a neighbor showed up as it got increasingly louder). He was immediately taken into the system, casted off, and went to several homes that only used him for food tickets. Though, the hops were all made frequently in several months. At last, he came to the door of the Redwaters where they had a small 4 year old girl named Anselma or "Shelly" for Elijah for years to come.

Fast forward, the third child to be adopted into the Redwaters clan was another male who went to be known as Noah (he was adopted at birth)  that was of African-American and Chinese descent. He was the youngest out of the three children, being only 10 by the time Elijah was 18 and Anselma being 16. The eldest adopted son always looked after Noah as he tried to carry over the weight of school on his shoulders and the stress of going to college as honestly, he wasn't truly aware of his future or what he wanted to do. The family was all together, well knit, with both the two older siblings arguing over petty things such as wardrobe choice or even the fact Elijah blasted rock music while Anselma blasted swing jazz (it was more of "let me blast me music!") The parents were already content with  their children, all of different diversities, but all maintained that they were different yet lived under the same roof.

The apocalypse broke out, the whole family was in dire jeopardy. The Redwaters took immediate evacuation into the family car, with Elijah using his own to carry the essentials such as gas, food, and blankets. Throughout the journey, both the parents and Noah were lost to the zombies.. Well, Noah was confirmed to have committed suicide when he discovered he had the disease. Elijah wasn't aware of this until he heard a sudden drop to the ground and he rushed into the boat cabin (a ferry for Greenland) as there was Anselma, with a knife in hand, as she had to cut the noose that wrung around Noah's head. All she did was stare deeply into the body, her expression now of confusion as Elijah knelt down and gripped tightly onto his sister's shoulder. All that was met within the next 10 minutes of silence was sobbing from Elijah and only silence from Anselma.

Now stationed in Greenland, he now has problems sleeping (due to believing he is terrorized by the thoughts/spirit of Noah( but often keeps an upbeat attitude towards anyone else that isn't his sister.

Anselma Redwaters
Anna or Sel

Age;; 23
Gender;; Female
Nationality;; Italian-American
Sexuality;; Bisexual

Likes;;
? Flowers (admittedly, her wardrobe consists of them on patterns; often connected to her memories of the Redwaters' garden)
? Star gazing
? Sled team (she can be considered in charge of the dogs; her activities throughout the day is often spent around them if she has nothing to do..which is usually most of the time.)
? Smoking (She is a casual smoker, only smoking when nervous.)

Dislikes;;
? Short-tempered folks
? Alcoholic beverages (she is fine with drinkers but she hates the taste)
? People that neglect their duties/jobs

History;;
(To read more of the Redwaters, refer to Elijah's history.)

Anselma, unlike the two boys adopted into the Redwaters, did have parents that remarkably loved her but they were off into the poor class that couldn't raise her. They often traveled around in the state of New York, often fleeing to find new shelter, food, but obviously not to stay in one location as still, they parents loved adventure. The whining baby ever did so made the mother burst into tears as she knew she couldn't provide for the child or make life any better than making nonsense and day dreams on their little adventures of traveling. So, at an orphanage, there was a small casket where the little baby was left alone as it wailed and wailed into the night until the landlord saw the baby, picked her up, and knocked on the door so the nun would see that the babe was almost frozen. Luckily for her, she had spent only a year into the orphanage as she was immediately drafted over to the Redwaters' home as they looked through papers and papers and found their lucky girl.

By the time Elijah came into the household, Anselma wasn't considerably welcoming to the 6-year-old as she had never had a sibling under this roof or anyone that can related to such a relationship as her time at the orphanage was rather narrow for her to experience anything. So, it took a while for her to bond to  the child as Elijah was a trouble maker to begin with (but Anselma was no different, she joined in the hi-jinks) but he was much more of the sociable, sparking conversation first as Anselma responded and kept her thoughts to herself (but bluntly spoke to her parents.) Sooner or later, she acquired a taste in the garden that Mr. Redwaters was especially proud of while Elijah was more at his mother's side for playing pool. It seemed that the little one had grown more accustomed to the garden and even outdid Mr. Redwaters himself.

As quickly as Noah came into the picture, she was more warming to the new brother's presence and joined together with Elijah to raise the brother and to finally act as responsible siblings. Unlike Elijah, she was more balanced in school but often faced a linear social time and interaction with others but she wasn't at all shy. She had other activities that she enjoyed that she was used to being alone or just with her family.

The apocalypse shortly arrived as Anselma was the first up, packing both cars as the family was in a haze. The family faced several losses including Noah and their parents.

Now, in Greenland, she has taken the role of being the "unofficial" caretaker of the sled dog team and takes her part in working in the community. Though, she can be seen in eerie silence and staring out into the distance, possibly after the tragedy of her youngest brother.

It was the early morning where most of the citizens of Attu had already begun to rise from their slumber and begin the still unusual workday of ensuring survival on the base. The sun was out, brightly lighting the day ironically as most knew (or believed) their fates were to end in the darkness that was the future. The blasted bio-weapon had taken the majority of lives, but commonly, it was as well resurrecting the fallen to come after the living. Some have taken precautions or at times, exterminated any soul infected, including themselves. These sort of pessimistic thoughts always did arrive to the two Redwaters siblings, that were already comfortable in their insulated trailer of wonders that hasn't surprisingly been left empty today. The curtains were were drawn over the windows. A leak of sunlight dripped  into the room to reveal the catastrophic mess that the oldest male, Elijah, made as he wasn't by any means a clean person. He never had issues with his personal environment but he will casually curse out the bitter winter that Attu was engulfed in for the majority of the time. "Another day without sleep will be your burden, Eli," Elijah muttered to himself under his breath as he sat on his bed, back towards the wall and his legs spread out as his stare went into the general direction of the dark room.

The soft cracking of the wood in the stove heater provided comfort to his ears as the commotion outside hadn't help either (or the lack of loud noises.) He was a man of loudness and of excitement, just wishing to hurl himself into action (when it was appropriate or his sister would get a heart attack), but alas, the dreadful time which was the morning left him in a suspension of time and all that was around him. He used to be able to sleep throughout the majority of the day and night, no questions needed, as only snores will accompany that.  A blank stare went towards his toes as he wiggled them, a grin appearing on his face from the lack of sleep and him just generally finding toes amusing. He grasped onto the big toes of each foot, stretching, as the vertebrates appeared across his back as despite the cold weather, the warmth in the cabin was good enough to keep shirtless.

Small scratches against the wall caught his ears as he snapped his head up, alert and on the edge. Elijah, often known for his strong yet quick punches,  immediately went to grab for a shirt on the floor. The shirt twisted about his knuckles as surely enough, this man was by no means a stranger to fighting and will certainly find ways of strangling anyone that trespassed into the room. Smears of oil were present on the shirt, contrasting greatly to the white color of the article of clothing but all that came into mind was how surely red it'll turn if he did come into a direct confrontation with this person. Cold wooden floor met his feet, his breath escaped him for the moment, and his lungs seemed to have froze. The tall figure lurked towards thee doorway, the light hitting behind his back, and thus gave his a preferable advantage to see into the hallway as all of the cabin was dark. Blurs of feverish instinct came alive in his eyes the moment as a blurred image caught his eye.

"ELIJAH!" A voice came from a paralyzed body as the brother nearly pressed her up against the wall with the cloth ready to become a noose around her neck. The younger sister, Anselma, had been outside in the hallway and was accidentally scratched her nails against the wall as she was checking her phone.  And this was what happened when she didn't pay attention. Brown eyes met each other, a moment of silence between the other, as Anselma's patience was surely slipping from the lack of response or obedience from Eli. "Elijah, for the last time," she repeated to herself as the man staggered back as she muttered an apology. The bags under his eyes were all common for her to see in the early mornings before he slid on his goggles to protect his vision from the falling snow. "Crap, Shelly! I didn't -- I thought there was some thief in the house," he was quick to defend himself, regardless of being at fault for acting on an impulse but that impulse had saved himself and others on numerous occasions. "You know, Eli. I think you need some sleep," the sister sighed as she closed her phone, sliding it into her pocket, and crossed her arms.

"You haven't been sleeping. I know this topic is typical but you need to sleep. I can't have you out there--" Anselma began, gesturing her right hand as she spoke. "I'm the oldest, Anselma. It's my job," Elijah responded in a small spark of wanting an argument to happen. "And it's your job to maintain your own health but you're failing at," Anselma coolly pointed out as her brother groaned, not wanting to accept this truth. She walked over as he looked down to the ground with her hands going to his arms. Her thumbs circled about onto his shoulder blades as Elijah stared tiredly at her, not sure if he could hear what she had to say next or even comprehend it. "Get some sleep. Understand? If anyone asks, I'll say you went off chopping off zombie's heads." A smile appeared on his face at his sister's excuse, though a bad one, it was still nice to see how she had confidence in him about protecting the last of the family but Attu too. Though, he frowned as several moments to think to himself as his sister did stand there quietly, reading his facial expressions to conclude as to what he was thinking. "Yeah," he glanced and locked eye contact with her, "I should."

Slightly tilting i his movement, he pulled away from the grip, and hazily walked back into his room as if into some trance. At his heels, the watcher was ever so quiet again as he flung himself onto the bed with legs and arms spread out as if to make a snow angel. Elijah began to grab the sheets and cover himself and he was slightly rolling to do so. "Close the door," he groaned to his sister, subconsciously knowing she was at his doorway, watching him as always. A small, pretty figure with hawk eyes. "Cover your feet," she said casually as her hand went to the cold doorknob as she twisted it but waited. "Later," he complained, just wanting to be left alone. Anselma rolled her eyes at such resilience her brother gave her. Thankfully, the door was finally closed and the brother felt his eyelids heavy and he squeezed them tightly shut, only hopping for dreams of nothing and sleep itself to overcome his conscious mind soon.

As for the sister, she paced herself towards the door as she was all set for a day out to work but it was still early as the sled dogs did have an inconsistent sleeping schedule as they came in very early in the morning from the last expedition. Running her hand through the black curls she possessed, Anselma could only open the windows to the house to at least let in some light before she left Elijah all to himself lonesome self. For a moment, she glanced down and closed her eyes, as only silence was around her. How the silence caressed her ears but felt of knives to her thoughts as it brought back lingering and stinging wounds that all the survivors had before arriving to Attu. Several bystanders noticed the Italian standing by the window, eyes closed in contemplation, with her vibrant sunflower shirt contrasting to the overall stature and expression her her face. Inhaling a deep breath, she snapped back to reality. Oh god. She was standing there the whole time in aimless wonderment and forgot people were watching.

Bolting from the sight of the window, she decided it was best to confront the outdoors for no logical reason (maybe her want to escape the silence that was only available in the house.) There was a fresh pelt of snow on the lawn. Well, this was something Elijah would've muttered in annoyance as since it was jokingly named "Greenland" by the vikings, there seemed to be no stopping of the snow and the white landscape from ever getting other colors. Snugging herself into her jacket, she zipped up the white jacket (stolen from her brother's wardrobe) in order to prevent any of her arms from getting frost bite as the attire she had brought from home wasn't exactly "winter survival" material. A visible breath escaped her lips, her brown eyes scanning through the crowd, to pickup on any faces that drew her attention from memory or warnings as still, the majority of the crowd were "acquaintances" with her; unlike her brother, who had made much more friends than even the both of them could count.

Her hands slipped into her jacket's pockets for warmth as she aimlessly walked around for several moments as others weren't sure what direction she would've taken.  Being in the lower 100s of the housing system was odd, as the spike of ages could be seen with the senior citizens, young children, and middle aged married/single persons out in the snow covered town. Of course, none that she could see were interested to greet her.

Where was the liveliness in this apocalypse when one needed it most?

Nathaniel Hawthorne
"Sometimes before it gets better, the darkness gets bigger."

Nathaniel scanned the accumulation of people that had awakened so far, running his hand through his hair. He wanted so badly to go up to someone and try to start conversation. However, everyone seemed to be extremely wrapped up in work, other conversation, or still asleep.  He sighed, preparing to turn and go back into the little cabin he called home. However, a flicker of movement unlike any others that the town tended to provide caught his attention, and he looked up, spotting a blonde girl leaving a medium sized building. He started to walk toward her before stopping quickly, blinking a few times. He knew who that was. Piper Keefe. Nineteen and a ball of fire. She'd torn through roommates like a bullet through fabric. He sighed again, turning on his heel and walking the other direction. He knew she was trouble.

As he continued walking, a girl in a floral patterned shirt caught his eye. She was zipping up a jacket and standing near a cabin, looking as bored as ever. He walked over to her, leaning against the building. She seemed nice enough; at least, he didn't think she'd lash out and snap his neck. Just to be safe, though, he kept his distance.

"Hello there," he greeted, smiling. "You looked lonely over here, so I figured I'd come and keep you company."

If I need to change anything, let me know! ^^

Ranae Rose Hathaway
"Looking for hope is sometimes hard, but you know, just stop worrying so much and it'll get better."

Age;; 19
Gender;; Female
Nationality;; Italian-American (At least the known Nationally of her, Father's is unknown)
Sexuality;; Bisexual

Likes;;
? Animals
? Strong-willed people
? Any type of hoodies

Dislikes;;
? Beauty queens
? People who are rude
? Ones who thinks she's weak because she's a girl

History;; Ranae is the one girl that everyone knew at school, and could get along with everyone. She's fairly kind, despite her negative type of attitude, and only wishes to be accepted among groups. But, those were the old days. Now Ranae is just one that likes to ride solo, and never listens to logic too well. She loves to just be the one that blends into everything, and has no enemies, because, she thinks that making an enemy with someone is unfair to the other person. She's just a bit cocky like that, and always has been. She was raised by a single mother, and has no siblings. The father gave up all responsibility once she found out her mother - Lisa - was pregnant. The girl didn't mind, in fact, Ranae and her mother are very close because of this. Lisa knows practically everything that goes on in Ranae's life, including love-life... which has been pretty much non-existant. She just doesn't trust guys all that much, it takes awhile for her to actually grow warm to them.
