Easier Chat?
« on: April 11, 2017, 03:16:34 am »
I have personally found the forum chatting difficult to keep up with seeing as all the messages are intertwined. I was thinking if we have a chat prehaps like Facebook in how you can see a certain persons messages without having to go through the ones you don't want to delete it might make things a little bit easier.

Another thing that'd be great about this is you wouldn't have to check the 'save a copy' box to save the message you wrote instead it'd be all in one place.

I'm not sure if this kind of think can actually be changed but it'd be a great touch.

I had a quick look around for a similar topic but haven't found one, please link me to it if you have seen one.

For about 2 minutes I started at this with a dumb look on my face not understanding what this meant. But now I do. GO ME!

I actually think this would be a good idea. I would like it if new messages automatically went to the top of ones you've already read and/or replied to. I know it will say when it's an unopened message but yes, you have to scroll to the bottom for it. Which kinda bugs me now that you think about it...

I hope I makes sence baha, that is another thing that gets a bit annoying too though, expecially when you are having a chat with someone.

Maybe you just get too many messages?
The Japanese concept of wabisabi:
The closest concept in english would be 'rustic'
They might have an old thing, one example is a favourite bowl or dish, it's broken, pieces are missing, why fix it?  With gold and pieces from other dishes?

Adding onto what Kuri said, I hardly get any messages.
I think only Moderaters/Staffers will be the only one suffering from this problem since they most likely get a lot of messages each day; and if it was a big issue they most likely would have fixed it by now?

Very true, I was helping someone through forum messaging which is why I brought it up. I don't get many messages myself just thought it'd be a nice touch for others (seeing as I thought others got more messages then me).

It's possible they could put the unread messages at the top, but i'm not sure about that (i've never meddled with the forum software that much) but messages from one person might be a bit beyond the design limits. Could be wrong about that though.

You can change a variety of personal messaging options from here: Personal Messages Options
From there you can set it to save a copy of each personal message in your sent items by default and you can set it to display personal messages as a conversation. Although, an easier PM system would be great to have implemented.
