Game Help / Bad Tokens, and crashing (this didn't used to happen!)
« on: February 05, 2012, 05:42:21 pm »
Ok, before anyone starts commenting on what I should do, i'll say what I have done. I have uninstalled, and re-installed FH, but with no luck. I haven't tried FH on another computer, because i only have my laptop (please don't tell me to get a new computer, as this computer is very powerful, isn't that old, and cost me a pretty $1000+ bill), although if i were very desperate, i could try running it in Kubuntu, since I have WINE installed (which allows you to run Windows applications on Linux), but i'd prefer to run it in Windows. And nothing significant has been updated lately at all (no drivers, Windows updates, ect.)

Ok, now onto the issue! What the problem is that for some reason, my characters get bad tokens when they login. When i go to login again (which usually solved them in the past), it would appear to be logging in (like it would before you got a BT), and then FeralHeart would crash. It has also started randomly crashing during in-game sometimes. Now there are two funny things about this problem: 1) It started after the servers came back up ever since they went down for a week, and 2) give it some time, and I may be able to get back onto the characters! Now, I have my characters scattered about everywhere, so that if one map won't login, I can try others. But there doesn't seem to be much connection to what map i'm logging into. This is very strange behavior, and it's getting to the point where FH is almost unplayable!

Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me?

Game Help / My presets keep getting removed!
« on: February 04, 2012, 12:15:15 am »
Ok, so i uninstalled and re-installed FH, hoping to solve some crashing issues I've been having lately. Now I'm having another problem. What's happening is, every time i go into the character creator after i log in, it removes my preset. I know this because I've been watching the preset file disappearing from the Windows Explorer (Not to be confused with Internet Explorer) window of the FH folder "presets". The file doesn't show up in the preset maker like it did, even though i changed the capital K, to a lower case K, and vise versa, trying to figure out whats going on. It's just every time i would go into my character to edit them, the file vanishes! I need help, please!

Game Help / Installed the patch, and it still tells me to install the patch
« on: December 08, 2011, 06:09:40 pm »
Ok, so I've downloaded the patch, and installed it to my FeralHeart folder (which for me is located in D:\Program Files\FeralHeart), and when I run the launcher, its fine. But when I log in, it tells me to install the patch. I'm rather confused as to why everyone is having problems with their FH, while I can't even get the patch installed! I mean, it installs fine and all that...why does it keep telling me ti installed the patch?

Media / For those who like Minecraft (funny video)
« on: December 06, 2011, 01:09:59 am »
Here's a flash animation a friend sent me a link to, since we both play Minecraft. For those who've played Minecraft, I think we've all found ourselves in this situation. XD

Ok, I'm here again with suggestions. These are things I really care about though. First of all, we need a better map! The current minimap doesn't show where caves, or portals are, or show how to travel to other places in the game. I followed a wolf (because we made a pack, and we want to settle somewhere nice), and I would have no idea how to get there again. I went back to my home on Bondfire Island, because I need to meet someone there tomorrow, but other than that, she is gonna have to lead me back. The problem is, she can't even find her way back! XD So I think this is a clear indication we need a better map, with landmarks shown, and maybe even paths. Maybe even a large world map, to show all the places in game, and where things are. I feel like this is very important, as if players keep getting lost, they'll get frustrated. And a frustrated canine or feline is not a happy one. Plus, new people are unable to navigate correctly. So please work on making a better map! Or maybe some kind of arrow thing to point you in the direction of where you want to go.

Next on my list is the chat. There are so many users logging on and off, that I miss messages if I'm not paying full attention to the chat window. Even when I am, I may missed them, because of a flood of people connecting, or disconnecting. While I learned you can filter out other chats, so I can focus on what channels I want, we cannot filter out that. I suggest an option to allow us to turn off the connect/disconnect message, or something like that. Or be able to filter them out in chat. Also, scroll buttons are desperately needed in this game, as dragging the scroll tab takes me too far. And then if I do happen to scroll the message I wanted to read, a single connect/disconnect sends me back to the end of the chats. I think you all can tell it's something that rather annoys me. XD; And I'm sorry if I seem too passionate, but it's just this is a really great game, but there are a few things that are making it unplayable. So in short, please allow us to switch off connect/disconnect messages, and add scroll buttons that allow us to scroll slowly.

My third suggestion is minor. The one thing I notice is that you can only be part of one group. I think this has something to do with the fact there is only one group chat, and having more than one would make things alot more complicated. So I'll let the pass. But since we're talking about groups, I was thinking of adding additional features, like being appoint ranks withing, just like wolf packs, and lion prides have. Like the person who makes the group should have full charge of it, but can also give people permission to add ones to the group, so it's not like an open frenzy. Ofcourse, I don't know how the group things all work, so maybe we can do that, and I don't know. Thats another thing: we need a better documentation page for FeralHeart! Or maybe a Wiki for us, atleast.

Anyways, I hope people read this, and consider these things. I can only hope the people who matter will view this, but a joke about suggestion boxs are that they're just something for people to give suggestions, so the user feel heard. XD Ofocurse, I dont beleive that. I know forums admins and moderators care about this forum, and the game. :)

Characters / Keiththewolf's Characters
« on: December 04, 2011, 05:57:53 pm »
Alright, so I decided to make a place to put all my characters. So far, I have only one, but I wanted to leave room for more, if I do make any. So anyways, here they are!

Species: Wolf

Sex: Male (aka dude XD)

Age: Adult

Height: What are "feet"?

Weight: I think I may have packed on a few pounds. X3

Sexual preference: Bi, just to give the ladies competition! XD

Mate status: Available! ;3

Personality: Laid back, non-violent, and humorous.

Bio:
As a pup, he always wanted to be someone special. He believed that his blue markings granted him some kind of supernatural power, like summoning rain, or causing lighting to strike. Hence, he used to, and still does call himself a Nightmare wolf. But they were all just part of a pup's imagination. As he was growing up, his parents were mercilessly killed (convenient, eh?) by a group of wolves who wanted his parent's territory. Their dying wish was that he'd escape, live, and enjoy life. Since then, he hates getting into fights, afraid of falling to his parents fate as well.

He's also taken his parents request seriously, as he pursues a life filled with happiness, which has caused him to become lazy at times, and develop a sense of humor (one that others may not understand fully). Although he doesn't want to get into a fight, he never really stops from telling a joke that may cause one. He just can't pass up a wise crack remark, or some hilarious rebuttal of his. He loves to do things the fun way, and does things the way he sees fit.

Dispute his silver devil tongue (metaphorically speaking), and his lazy and funny behavior, there's another side to him. Deep down inside, is a serious lover, who seeks someone to love, and protect, and cherish. Although his eyes may wonder on any girl or guy that just happens to catch it, his mate would still be the only one he loves. Beyond his exterior personality lies a soft hearted, kind wolf, who only seeks love and peace. But again, that doesn't mean that the exterior doesn't show at all.

Ok, so I haven't been playing long at all, or had an RP yet (I'm gonna change that though), but already I do have a few suggestions. First of all, is the chat windows. I notice that all the chats are mashed into one window. This may let to be able to see what's all going on around you, but what if you were trying to focus on a certain channel (or chat)? The problem is that if the place is crowded, the chat is updates so fast, that I might miss a message for me. The second problem is going back on the messages to check what was said. You can't slowly scroll from one message to the next, but you make sudden jumps. What I think would be helpful would be a way to filter what chat channels you want to receive (but you wouldn't be able to tune out mod messages), and scroll arrows that could allow you to scroll back slowly. And this is a shot in the dark, but how about a local roleplay channel, instead of using the local channel? I can't really tell if someone just said hi to me in the local channel, or if they're rping. And I can't find any rps, since I have no idea if it is an rp, or just a conversation. That suggestion may not be my best, but I think the first 2 defiantly deserve some attention.

Secondly, this one you may get alot: add more items to character designing. For one thing, the options there are, the better characters we can make (but again, please add arrow keys to the scroll bars!). I suggest maybe adding something like chest fluff, or being able to change the color of the front of your character. Also, I feel like the weight setting is misnamed. When I think of terms of how 'weight' is used, it's more of the polite way of saying that your character is chubby. I feel that it should be called something like bulk, or muscle, since thats what it all really is. That being said, maybe if anyone feels like making their character chubby should be free to do so. After all, characters should be whatever people want them to be. All you need to do really is give them the chance, and you'd be surprised what people would make their characters look like.

Third, and last on my list is the movie maker: genius! This is something that really makes the game unique. It gives players the option to create their own movies. And with a bit of creativity, I'm sure many will make awesome movies with it! But i think it's a powerful feature that should be expanded upon, as it is a neat feature I think, and would defiantly deserve some attention. But what if your alone? Maybe you should also give the single player movie maker (when it comes out) the ability to make multiple characters, and direct them, like you would on a stage. You know, and them people could make their own movies. It's not that I wish to cut the social part of it out or anything, but for some people, it can be hard to find people who are willing to help them. Especially when you already have a script and storyline you want to be followed.

Anyways, just a few of my thoughts. Not sure if they're worth very much, but a voice spoken outloud, is better than one held within. :)

Game Discussion / Game etiquette?
« on: December 03, 2011, 03:51:14 am »
Ok, being new, and also shy, I'm not really sure how to find friends on this game. But it's not  that I don't want to, it's just that everyone seems to busy. To me, it'd be rude to interrupt someone if they were RPing, or talking to a friend. And I can't tell who is busy, and who's not either. I don't really want to make people mad, since I do know what it feels like when people barge in on RPs without permission. Ofcourse, maybe I'm being too polite, that I won't get to RP with anyone. What do you all think? Any pointers for getting to roleplay, while still showing a sense of etiquette?

Game Help / I can't log into the game!
« on: December 02, 2011, 11:25:55 pm »
Ok, right after I solve one problem, another pops up! I can't login! My username and password are both correct (I've checked each time, until I ended up banning myself for 15 minutes), and it won't take my user information! >.<
