Black screen?

Installation of the game was fine, and it worked when I first opened it. but after three cannot connect to server errors, I finally managed to login, and was met with a black backdrop. the game functions and I can even enter a server and move around, but all I see is my character running in a black abyss. I tried changing the display settings and all that, but when I open the game after closing it, it doesn't save any of my changes. My computer is less than a year old and is completely up to date, but unfortunately I'm computer illiterate and have no idea how to fix these issues. I'm hoping to maybe find someone that can help walk me through what I'm supposed to do.

Have you perhaps installed any mods that accidentally caused this? I remember when I attempted to install a mod called FH+ (even when you were not supposed to be able to get that, but I just wanted to see, and I was somehow able to get the mod, anyway) and I entered the game, the map was all black for me too. I fixed it by uninstalling the mod.

If it’s not that, then I don’t really know...
You can try and “reset home” and then “go home” on all your characters to make sure they spawn in this patch’s lonely cave.
You can do this in Feral Heart’s front page>User Panel(login there)>Character Reset.
You find the user panel on the right side of the site.
I once experienced where my old character couldn’t enter the game at its new patch, because the character was previously used in the old old patch. I fixed it by reset and go home.

Hello!

As Ellen has provided, here are also a few more suggestions for you to try. These usually help most commonly!

- Use the Run As Administrator option with your PC
- Changing the rendering system
- Reinstalling again
- Download the .fhm's again and replace.
- Download + Replace the resources.cfg

Are you sure you have downloaded the most recent version (1.16) of FH? Make sure you do !
Otherwise, I would try what both Ellen and Calvary have suggested.

Thank you for the help! I opened it in administrator mode and reset one of my characters den's, it seems to be working perfectly fine now!
