The staff do not have the source code, so unfortunately we cannot do anything to fix the game's stubbornness

If you made your own map, look inside your "particles" folder and delete any and all files ending in _0, _1, etc

As for finding your portal, it may be that the vanilla portal textures are nearly transparent so you may be missing them. Try downloading this:

In #2, put the following:

X: 100
Y: Height of mouse over ground Y + 1
Z: 100
Yaw: 0

Note: The mouse over thing can be found in Map Maker in the bottom right corner of the screen, it will display the coordinates like so:
100 500 100 32.5
(X Y Z Yaw)

Log in here: User Panel

Click on "Reset Home" and then "Go Home" for the character that it is doing this and then try playing the game again.

Ah yes, in Map Maker, there is a check box called "Has Portal", make sure it is checked and then just under that, make sure coordinates that are on your map are typed in so you can go through this portal. That will be the main entrance and exit to your map.
