Hallo. I figured I'd do a blank-slate restart and complete revamp of my first ever Roleplay, Strays of the Ruins. <3

2113 A.D.

Earth was plunged into a devastating nuclear war. All reaches of the globe were utterly destroyed by the constant bombardment of the missiles and nukes. Huge cities such as New York, Paris, London, etc. were reduced to a mere crater as they were the obvious first targets of enemy bombs. The human species was seemingly wiped out by their own hands in the heats of war. As the war drew to a close due to the mere lack of people to continue it, things began to settle. Years passed without so much as a shadow from a human. However, as things began to seem peaceful for the remaining animals, the side affects of the high nuclear fallout began to set in. In the cities and areas mainly affected by the atomic warfare, creatures began to rapidly mutate from the inescapable radiation- turning them into enormous, ravenous monsters driven by an unquenchable blood lust.

         

Plot

In the midsts of the horrors, there is one small city perched on a seaside cliff that had managed to remain standing, though war torn and overrun by weeds. Due to its desolate location, its animal inhabitants were unaffected by the surrounding radiation, allowing them to live in the ruins of this city. It has become a refuge for the few survivors. Through years of living in this haven, the animals began to grow immunities to the threat of radiation poisoning and mutation. However its abundance did not go unknown to surrounding parties. Slowly, various mutated beings had begun to trickle in, making the once safe city a rather dangerous place. On top of the mutant threat, a new threat has recently arisen- humans. Appearing in their solid yellow radiation-proof suits and gas-masks, man has come into this sanctuary with the knowledge of its non-mutated inhabitants with the motivation to capture and perform tests on the immune with the ambition to create a vaccine against the radiation for their few surviving human counterparts. Animals taken by the suited men are never heard from again.

There are many prices that come with living here for the surviving strays. Some consider it their home- their city- and will not move for anything, while others may seek refuge elsewhere, whether it be inside the cliff-side caves on the coastline, or in the thin, dwindling woods that surround the city. Will you survive the many dangers that come with life, or be another casualty in the never ending plague?

The Threats:

Mutated Canines:

These beasts are vast in their numbers. Once humble house pets or strays, they have been stripped of all empathy or ability to even think. The radiation has made them double in size and lose all of their fur. They are blind, but have keen hearing and sense of smell. They tend to use their enormous size and jaw strength to their advantage, and will bite, rip, mangle, tear any flesh their teeth will close around- even if its their own kind. They are slow runners, but are very powerful. Do not take their blindness as weakness, they are very skilled trackers, though in the heat of an attack or battle, they will become frantic and mindless. The Mutants are the largest, most constant threat.

Scientists/Humans:

Whenever you see the color yellow, danger is sure to follow. These scientists can be distinguished by their obnoxious yellow radiation suits and masks. They are not your friendly human master. They are armed with machine guns and catch poles, and make occasional visits to the city. Any non-mutated animal they come across is immediately captured alive, or if it shows signs of aggression, killed on sight. The animals captured are taken away to a lab at a secret, far off location, where horrible tests are applied in an attempt at learning of its radiation immunity and to produce the hopeful vaccine for humans from it. Any creature taken is instantly considered deceased, as none have ever been successful in escaping the tightly controlled facility. Escape attempts are thwarted by either harsh punishment, or in some cases death. If your character is captured, there is no way to escape, and is therefore considered dead.

Natural Disasters:

The environment as is is corrupt and deadly. Due to the fallout that blocks out the sun, the ground level is consistently chilly. With the city being on an ocean-side cliff, many threats come by sea such as occasional hurricanes, though rare. Harshly blowing dust storms are often kicked up, and storms in general are frequent. Storms may lead to tornadoes which will tear apart parts of the already broken buildings. Acid rain is also a frequent occurrence due to the horrible condition of the atmosphere and fallout-blanketed sky.
Another natural thing is illness. Due to the horrid sanitation and the radiation, many animals, immune included, have fallen victim to horrible illness, both physical and mental. The diseases ravage through the body and leads to eventual slow death.

Breed: German Shepherd x Siberian Husky x Various others

Age: 4 Y/O

Description/Photo: Flak is a rather large canine. He has a white chest and all of his toes are also white. He's got bi-colored eyes, one blue and one brown.

Personality: Flak has excellent leadership qualities. He is rather stern, strict, and serious. Survival is his only focus in life. He is very selfless, and would quickly risk his own well being to save another. He's a great fighter and won't back down from anything. After living here for years, he grew very street smart with how to deal with day to day life.

Family: None.

Background: Flak was born towards the end of the war and lived with his human, who was also his best friend. However, once things began to come undone, his previous home was raided by a group of early-staged mutants, who killed his human. He has grown a bitter hatred for mutants now, and constantly lives in regret and guilt for not being able to save his human.

Personality: Gavy is extremely outspoken. He has an "invincible" mindset, making him dare to stand up to huge threats without second thought. He's got a bit of a feisty attitude, and tries to prove himself to the older dogs by showing bravery. He won't hesitate to speak his mind or hop in on a fight, even if he's hopelessly outgunned. He won't think twice about standing up to threats, and enjoys getting himself into trouble.

Family: Nope

Background: Born in the sanctuary city post-war(obviously). He grew up here with his single mother and one sibling until recently when they passed away from illness.

Description/Photo: A light tan large canine with a darker tinted muzzle, large paws and strong muscles.

Personality: Quiet, kind, and conscientious. Usually puts the needs of others above their own needs. Stable and practical, she values security and traditions. Well-developed sense of space and function. Extremely perceptive of other's feelings. Interested in serving others.

Family: None known, seperated at birth.

Background: Born in a defense-dog program, Rim was the runt of the litter and quickly removed from the program due to her harsh nature. After a mutant killed her handler, she fled from the small facility she was located in and started a loner life.

Personality: This canine is very stubborn and can be rather bitter at times-she usually doesn't like being comanded what to do but if there's a valid reason she will liften. Teegan is rather snappy and takes pride in what she does, but will sometimes beat herself up if getting it wrong. She's a strong willed and confident canine who won't back down, her bitter and cocky attitude cause many to dilike her, but Teegan will soften up sometime on others she comes to meet. This canine will not back down and will risk her life for those she classes as 'friends' or even 'family'.
Family: Can't remember, all she knows is they're dead.
Background: As a pup Teegan lived with a loving human who would take her on walks everday for atleast 1/2 hours and give her everything she wanted. He went by the name of Dean. They loved one another dearly and would give anything for one another, the time of the war came and Dean thought about his canine companion more than himself and placed her in the basement. Going frantic she scratched at the door and continued nudging at it-some how getting it open. Running out she glanced at her human laying dead on the ground-a know formed in her throat and now she blames it on herself.

Personality: Micah is rather the calm canine and will let others take charge, she doesn't mind being told what to do and sometimes enjoys it as it makes her feel she's doing something good. At times she will be snappy and can get very aggressive, but that is rarely shown although if she's teased enough it will show. Micah is mostly a caring canine and will help those is need, even if it involves fighting. A loyal friend to have and easy to get along with.
Family: Nope, she was taken from them.
Background: Micah was adopted to a large family with a big beautiful house, they hoped to use her as a guard dog but her nature was to kind. So they sold her to another loving family that was held with two small children (Aaron and Kelsie) and two older humans (Liam and Claire). The family had another family pet name 'Duke' he was an older and rather protective dog. She lived her first 2 years with this family until the war happened. They all sadly died in the process of trying to escape-although Duke loved his family he didn't want to see the youngsters life end so quickly. Sending her into a large underground tunnel that trains usually passed through. Liftening to his orders she stayed there for a good week until exiting and all the memories came flooding back. Description/Photo: Risto is a lean, agile cat, with the medium-size gently wedged-shaped head features of a long, square muzzle and strong chin. He is a short-haired cat, and his pelt is light tan. Black rings form around his legs and tail.
Personality: Risto is short-tempered and is prideful of himself. He refuses for help from any other creatures, but at times, he will regret how he acts. Risto keeps to himself and is sometimes shy towards others, however once he has regained his confidence, he will step out.  
Family: Parents - Unknown (Most likely deceased)
Siblings - Deceased
Background: Risto never met his parents before, but he managed to meet his sister near a deserted alley, and the two cared for one another. Though, when a nuclear explosion hit, Risto and his sister barely escaped, however, they managed to stay in cover. Nevertheless, his sister was more injured than he was - she died along the way from escaping. He travels alone, hoping for a better future, and once and a while stops to nurse his injured tail.

Personality: Dusty is quiet and less out-going, more on the sophisticated side. He doesn't like socializing with others and is found sitting in a small group, or sometimes by himself. He isn't an outcast or anything, but he prefers to be alone than with others. He enjoys doing solitary work, but he doesn't mind working with others if it isn't frequent. Even though Dusty can be quiet, he does have a sharp-tongue that will lash out at you if provoked. He can be stubborn at times; otherwise, Gavin is gentle and understanding towards you, even if he is quiet.
Family: Parents - Deceased
Siblings - None
Background: Nothing fancy; he was raised alone by a young man who used to take Dusty out for walks along the beach whenever the sun rose. Dusty didn't understand much about this and normally took this as a casual thing, not realizing what importance laid behind this move. His actions soon were noticed by the owner, causing him to be slightly hurt, though the canine was puzzled why. When his owner was killed by the explosion, Dusty had a tinge of regret of taking life casually with his owner, before he soon moved on as a stray.

Description: An behemoth frame, slender and skinny from malnutrition. Dayrll is a Harl Dane, being naturally thin and lean, tall as well as slender. However, he is beyond the healthy exterior, scars and an exposed ribcage. Despite the current famished state, Dayrll still keeps up with the average stray's about the remaining city. Large, upright ears, as well as a skinny long tail. Long nails, and sharp fangs as well. Light brown irises as well, the right one somewhat blind.

Personality: Dayrll is an intlligent, cunning, and clever brunjo. Using his natural skill and finesse, Dayrll will see that he gets his way, or at least get away with his somewhat sly behavior. Despite his cunning mannerisms, if he respects you, you'll be rewarded with a loyal protector and care-taker.

Family: Dante & Clarey

Background: Dayrll was taken under the wing of a Pitbull named Dante, and his mate Clarey. They've brought him up to the cunning and intelligent male he is today, and have taken care of him ever since. It's quite a bland, non-exciting backstory, however Dayrll will often modify it somewhat to entertain his audience.

Large white paws struck the dusty concrete, sending debris and filth into the air. The fae's nose scrunched up, ears falling back with a small grunt rumbling from the depths of her throat. Nothing. There was nothing here. Cascading down the street, Rim's silky, curved tail lashed about in the air, hoping someone could see her from afar. Dark eyes narrowing, she clambered up onto a nearby car, resting atop it's destroyed roof with her collars jingling.
