Okay, third in a row, I know....
« on: May 03, 2015, 03:23:05 pm »
But I still have questions. I will probably still have questions for a very long time, so bear with me. Please?

Okay. Down to business (*sings* LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS! TO DEFEAT! THE HUN!!!! (sorry)).

Thanks on the info about my last question about the signature stuff. I just don't know what site/app or whatever to start my drawings on. Any ideas?

Also, I'm becoming less fond of my side picture, and I want to upload a gif instead (I'll probably do that for the signature too until I get a suitable drawing). I've found my gif (it's adorable Lokiness (like really, super cute :D), but I don't know how to get it to my profile. Now, I can do this on either windows or a macbook pro, so if you guys know how to do it for either, let me know!

Ummm.....thinking......any more ideas for problems.....ooh! Got one!

When I'm typing things to post, I see normal things up above like color and font and emojis and whatnot, but there are some things I don't know. For one, what is superscript, subscript and teletype? And marquee and spoiler? And for the box that says Change Color, does that mean color of the text (I think so, I just wanna be sure)?

Okay, I think that's all I have, so I will post this one. I'll probably think of more as soon as I post.

See you guys soon!

If you wanna change the size of your picture to an avvie size, trying goin here. Tinypic.com

Here's a tutorial.

Hello guys, and welcome to this small tutorial on how to properly put on a icon and or signature here on Feral Heart.
Now please fallow these step by step if you have no idea how to put a icon/signature and we'll get you set up.
NOTE: This tutorial was specially made just for Feral Heart. You can try this same steps for other forums if you want.

Avatar
Ever had a icon that was about 200x200 and it looks crisp clear when viewed on Window photo preview,  but then when you upload it on here it looks blurred or pixelated? Well I have the solution for you. First, Do you know the difference in computer resolution?

The right and left pictures were preformed in different ways when uploading in on here. One from a Direct upload from my computer and the other a Directlink from Photobucket or Tinypic.com. Which one do you like best? Lets move on...

First you would make your picture in photoshop and or find a good resolution picture on the internet. Once you have that try to crop it to at least 200x200(sometimes 150x150 is a better option). When you do that find a good place to upload your picture (photobucket or tinypic.com are the best options)

Since I use Photobucket a lot this tutorial will be based on it. If you so happen to know of another file sharing site such as tinypic.com they use the same basic links as well.

First off upload your picture

Next when you are finishing uploading your picture then click it and there is displayed options on the right hand side. Since we are doing just Avatars you will be needing this link or similar Direct coding with a website link in it.

From there go into your profile page and on the left hand side there should be account tabs just for you..click on the one that says Forum Profile Information.
From there, you should see options for your avatar as well as some for your signature. The one you will be using will be the link where it requires a direct link. Get your coding from the website and place it here. After that you have uploaded a successful avatar.
Now using the "Upload from my computer" function works just as fine too, but why do you want to use a direct link coding instead of this.
Reason to use Direct instead of a Computer download
1) The resolution on the image is 2x more better and more crisp
2) Using the Direct link method allows you not only upload jpgs, but also gifs as well. So you cant upload a gif onto the other setting cause it will not work.
With that saying, this ends the tutorial on Avatar
Thanks on the info about my last question about the signature stuff. I just don't know what site/app or whatever to start my drawings on. Any ideas?

Try GIMP.

Okay, thank you for all of your help, but I'm not sure that this would work. I've just tried what AlphaEclipse said with the links, but my new avatar didn't show up. Can you guys see it? Because I sure can't. (FYI: If you do see it, it should be a gif of Loki and Sigyn (I'm sorry, but idk who Sigyn is, but I had to have the gif, it's too adorable) hugging and its sooo adorable, but that's what you should see if you can see the gif (don't worry, the artist is credited :))) Could this because of what I uploaded? I want my new avatar to be a gif (see above), not a picture, so is there some other instructions to do it (again, on either windows or a macbook pro), or do I just need to find a new gif?

Also, thanks for the suggestions of GIMP, but (I'm sorry if I'm being too picky) is there a thing that I don't have to download and is free that I can do the same things on (again, sorry if I'm too picky :-\)?

And thanks for the info on the superscript, subscript and teletype.

Thanks for all of your help through my beginning stages of forums (and soon, the actual game of FeralHeart)!!!

I'm fubbernucked.

Are you uploading from your computer or using a picture directly from the internet? It doesn't matter if it's a .gif or a .png since they are both image formats. Make sure you are taking the full, direct link to the image, not just the site. Normally the image's location/URL will have an extension at the end of the link, such as .png or .gif. Those tutorials both work and show the correct way of uploading/setting a avatar. :o

I'm afraid I do not have any other recommendations if you want an online service. Someone else may have one, though.

Well, what I did was literally google image search "Loki gifs" and I found this. It has the artist's name on it, so I clicked on the link, and it took me to a gallery of their artwork. I found my gif and I clicked on the Source/Credits button and that took me here:

http://suiskellington.deviantart.com/art/Sigyn-and-Loki-Gif-335532508

Do I use that? Because I think that's the closest thing that I can get, and in the "I have my own pic:" section of the profile, I think all it needs is a url. I could be totally wrong, and I probably am, so before I post this I should ask one more question to this problem: Should I just download the gif and put it in to where is says "I will upload my own picture:"? But then, wouldn't it just upload one frame of it?

I know I sound super old with all of the computer stuff, but I assure you guys that I am just a thirteen year old who is just getting started with social medias/forums/roleplaying things.

Thanks!!

How to post an image in signature

Signature

For signatures we will be doing almost the same steps but will be using a different link this time. We will be using the IMG coding this time.

Go back to your file sharing site and find this link. It should be a IMG link if not then chances are it wont work to well. After that fallow the same steps as the Avatar by going into the Forum Profile Information and this time, go in your signature box.

After you click that then it will give you options such as "Signature" which is what you want. From there you just input the IMG coding you have gotten and then save it. In a few minutes or so you will have a signature.

And If you've done all the steps correctly then you have successfully uploaded a prefect signature. Now just a note that0 there is a size limit to this as well, you are able to see how much space you have left when you look at the number grid underneath the signature box. You can upload jpg, and gifs in the signature box as far as I know of.
With all this said, this ends the tutorial on Adding a signature to your profile.

For more further questions fell free to shot me a PM and I will try my best to help out. I do hope you find this small tutorial helpful for some of you younger members out there getting used to the forum setting.

Thank you, DelightfulRevenge, for this, but can I use this when uploading a gif to my signature? I just want to be sure.

Sorry if I seem obsessed with gifs. It's just that I've found some that I really want to use. Heheheh....

Thanks!

Are you using a .gif from your computer or the internet? If you are uploading one from your computer, I'm actually not entirely certain if Photobucket or Tinypic will be able to upload some .gifs, since they are usually very large files. However, if you are using one you have found, you can use the tutorial above, simply minus the Photobucket section. .Gifs will work just as .png or .jpg will since they are all image file formats. All you need to do is make sure to place the image's direct link into the IMG code.
Code: [Select]
