That's weird. I tried everything I could think of and ti crashed every time for me too. Did you create that heightmap from scratch or go over a copy of a pre-existing one?

I suggest finding the WaterMill heightmap, making a copy of it, then going over everything with a dark shade of grey and starting over. That's my only suggestion :/
