Characters / Buffy: Character Biography
« on: March 11, 2017, 07:37:21 pm »

General Character Overview.

Home environment: Slighly tropical, rocky terrains, waterfall/trickle areas & low-tide streams/rivers, caves and stree/leafy vegetation areas.
Species: [Unconfirmed Species].
Key Features: Back stripes, ear rims, tail stripes, tail rings, nose stripes, leg fade and medium length pelt year-round.
Body Weight: 270lbs.
Head to Body Length: 182cm.
Height: 106cm.
Tail Length: 90cm
Build: Slim, reasonably muscular.
Age Group: Young Adult.
Personality: Strong-willed, adventurous, responsible and ambitious.

Story and Family History.

Buffy was born and raised in a clan. She is the biological daughter of the clan's chiefs, Bohati and Mira. Both parents raised her like any other parent in the clan would, to give her as much of a normal life as they could. However, Bohati and Mira would always teach her the importance of; respect, dignity, knowledge of the clan's history, and what it meant to be a descendant of her parents, and the many chiefs before them. She had the luxury of being the offspring of the clan's chiefs, she had it quite easy as a cub, but her parents never let that luxury spoil her.

Father: Bohabi
Mother: Mira
Siblings: None

Fears, Desires and Aspirations.

Buffy's fears are many but not shown, as they all compile into one. That is, the fear of not being able to lead her clan greatly, like her parents and the chiefs before them. There is so much to learn, and there is no stop to the learning, as different barriers and situations arise. However, her main desire is to keep her clan safe, preserve life and make sure her subjects/clan members are always standing strong & healthy. Despite her fears, she does aspire to to become an idolized figure of her clan, as well as a great provider, protector and leader of her clan.

Miscellaneous.

There is nothing more to share at this particular moment, as everything 'important' is pretty much summarised to my best ability. I'm still figuring out parts of her story as well, as she is a very important character to me so I only want the best for her. As far as I see it, this is all you need to know about Buffy. However, if you have any questions you'd like to ask regarding Buffy, I will gladly answer them. If I feel the information provided is important, I'll add it in the info above. No Reference sheet yet to share.

Forum Suggestions & Ideas / Having a helpful Profile Description
« on: March 11, 2017, 02:30:04 pm »
Having a helpful Profile Description

I decided to place this here in the Imputbox as I best feel it fits here, as it holds a somewhat close enough suggestion to a personal/profile related change on the forum. I wasn't sure where to place this, as it is a topic related to the Froum, but is not quite designed as a discussion. I considered Miscellaneous tutorials, but this is not best fit as a tutorial either. I also did not feel it would fit in the Off Topic board or discussion, as that area is purely based on non-related FH subjects. However, with there being no suitable place/home for this thread, I hope it is welcomed here nevertheless for what it is.

!! Disclaimer !! In no way am I stating/saying that users should have/must have/must require this in their forum profile desriptions. Nor is this an imput of possible future change regarding the FeralHeart forum itself. This topic is purely a suggestion for those, and only those, who wish to use/place this (or something relatively similar) in their profile descriptions.

What is this thread about?

Some people may have done this already, and I'm aware and have seen this type of thing in use before. However, I am here to provide a much simpler and more "get to the point" alternative of helping new users that just might stumble across your profile. This might come in handy use to those who do a lot of handy/helpful work around the forum.

I have basically added this to my own profile as I have become vastly active around here again these past few days. I mainly have it there so users can read quickly and try to find something that will match their learning technique. For example; a user needs help making a map, but doesn't know where to go so they stumble on your profile for assistance. But wait, there's information on your profile that can help them already. Even better, this user has now found a whole huge handful of tutorials on various map making/map related tutorials that have inspired them to do greater things with their maps.

Free-to-use Example/Template.

Before you ask for help, please consider these Tutorials as they might contain just what you're looking for; Mapping Tutorials, Preset & Marking Tutorials, Modding & Meshing Tutorials, Miscellaneous. You might even find a few problems or questions that have already been answered in the Game & Forum Help boards. Need help finding your way around the FeralHeart v1.15 Maps? Take a look at this detailed Quick Map Finding Guide. However, if you have any further questions, or if you just want private help, you are welcome to send a Private Message. Don't hesitate to drop a Private Message/Inbox my way and greet me, or get to know me a little better. I'm happy to reply to all and any Messages.

If you need help with understanding the game and/or forum rules, or just wish to report something, you will only get an accurate responce from an active Member of Staff.

Please note/other Info.

The above template/example is what is currently in my Profile Desctription, but you are welcome to use and/or modify it however you want. It includes the key links on how to help a user in general. I am NOT saying that they are the only links you should post, but these are pretty much key links. I haven't added a link to the Staff Page, other than the once in the red text below the description. I personally didn't feel the need to link it up anywhere else, as the staff link is very obvious enough on the navigation bar ontop of the FeralHeart site, and has all the information in terms of Staff in there anyhow. As I said before, this is plainly a "get to the point" detail. I didn't want users to feel that they had to hold your hand or anything.

You may have noticed that I added a piece of red text at the end of my description. Reason being, Staff really do only have the accurate answers in terms of helping users understand the Game and Forum Rules, as well as accurate responces to reports. This is placed here purely because if a none-staff member were to provide the wrong information regarding efforts in helping a user understand the rules, it could effect that user's future in a not so pleasant way, so to speak. Providing the wrong information can have a heavy impact.

Anyhow, I hope this is helpful to you in anyway, feedback is welcomed. If you decide to create your own, let me know. I'd love to check it out on your profile.

Screenshots / A little In-game Photography
« on: March 08, 2017, 08:39:47 pm »
Believe it or not, these were actually quite tricky to perfect. However, I find that if you use two accounts (one for camera, one for pose), you'll have an easier time in perfecting your own screenshots. These were taken of my character Buffy in her Podium map (the map you can self-create for your character creation screen), as I thought it would be the perfect place for Buffy to be in. She absolutely adores mountainy/rocky areas and small pools of water. Especially; water falls, trickles, leafy areas and tree grown areas.

Programs used for filtering and editing; Pickmonkey, Paint Tool SAI.

Tell me what you think anyhow, you're more than welcome to share your favourite.

Praise / Happy Birthday, Nynx and Edolicious!
« on: November 04, 2016, 12:01:43 pm »
Today it is November 4th! A day belonging to millions of Birthdays, but I am here today to celebrate the Birthday of TWO lovely beings/felines.

Nynx

I will not say much as I am going to be a very busy bee soon, and as I do not know how I can possibly put into words or express all the care and heart you put into this community, Nynx. I surely am proud of how far you have come, and what you have done to help keep this community in tact. But other than that little message, have a wonderful Birthday and rest your little paws. May you receive many wishes and Birthday treats, have a great Birthday and enjoy your day thoroughly!

Edolicious

As for you, Edo! Skype only recently told me it was Birthday also-- and your DeviantArt Birth date is a L I E. HOW DARE!
But Happy Birthday to you too <3 If only I had known sooner and I would have been able to squeeze another gift in!! It shall have to be a Birthday/Christmas gift combo for December!

Happy Birthday to you both, you're both wonderful. Seriously.

Other Mods/Creations / Custom/Private Map Portals - Improved
« on: August 02, 2016, 05:56:08 pm »
So as many of you know, a lot of people (including yourselves) have had a really time seeing and finding the custom portals in Cape of Distant worlds. It kind of sucks and it shouldn't take so long to find a portal you wish to explore in. However, I have made a portal for you guys to use in order to see them much more clearly.

(Thank you, Kryvul, for providing the top image so quickly)
Before and After images:

If you would like this portal, please feel free to download here [47 KB]. All you need to do is place the image files into Local Disk (C:) \\ FeralHeart \\ Media \\ Textures. I did make them white, mainly because it is a clear and default tone and works very effectively. However, if you would like to see any different colours or maybe custom mods then feel free to encourage that. I really hope these work well for you guys and I hope they are used, I'm sure custom map finding will be so much easier now you have these.

As always, it's a pleasure making things for everyone, enjoy and have a lovely morning/noon/evening or day in general!

If you would like to share this with friends, here is a nifty tiny URL to easily share in chats so you do not have to explain the location or type the full URL address.

Back-up Default FeralHeart Folder Downloads

Default FeralHeart Folder

Default FeralHeart Folder (Complete) Download [177 MB]
Alternatively you can re-install the game in the downloads section. However, this is mainly here if people don't want to go through the trouble of the re-installation process and just want the entire FeralHeart folder itself. This download is also useful to anyone who has a habit of breaking their game a lot or accidentally losing/replacing files they don't mean to. If this ever happens, you'll always have this extra folder to grab the fix from.

Default FeralHeart Folder Sub-Folders

Main Folder Contents Download [10 MB]
If you are wanting to replace contents/files inside the FeralHeart folder (files such as the markings.cfg, items.cfg, dll files etc...) then this is the download for you.

Default media folder Download [166 MB]
The media folder is one of the largest folders as it contains many sub folders (as listed below). You will find all media related things in here.

Default my_presets Download [1 MB]
The my_presets folder includes all sub-folders from preset_1 to preset_12 and UV map references.

The folders; exports, presets, and screenshots were not included as they have no starting content in them other than instruction.

Default Media Folder Sub-Folders

▸ items Download [2 MB]
The items/sub folders include; Antlers, CandyCane, ChristmasHat, EarFeather, Glasses, Roses, Spines, Sunglasses, TailLeaf, TailRibbon and Twig.

▸ materials Download [13 KB]
There are no sub folders located in the materials folder. All default materials are located here directly.

▸ models Download [2 MB]
There are no sub folders located in the models folder. All default models/meshes/skeletons are located here directly.

▸ music Download [31 MB]
There are no sub folders located in the music folder. All default materials (and credits) are located here directly.

▸ objects Download [24 MB]
The objects folder's sub folders include; backdrops, grass, misc, mountains, my_objects (empty), planes, rocks, shapes, shrubs, structures, trees and water. The objects folder also includes all default .object files which can be located there directly.

▸ overlays Download [496 KB]
The sub folders in overlays include overlay1 and overlay2 with all default overlay files inside each sub folder.

▸ particles Download [58 KB]
There are no sub folders located in the particles folder. All default FeralHeart particles are located here directly.

▸ sky Download [130 KB]
There are no sub folders located in the sky folder. All default FeralHeart skies/cycles and weather files are located in here directly.

▸ sounds Download [19 MB]
There are no sub folders located in the sounds folder. All default FeralHeart sounds and credits are located here directly.

▸ terrains Download [66 MB]
The terrains folder's sub folders include; default, fhmaps, temp and textures. The temp.map file can be found directly inside the terrains folder. The sub folder 'fhmaps' has the fhobjects and fhweather sub folders, as well as default map credits and default map .fhm's.

▸ textures Download [22 MB]
The textures folder sub folders include; markings, masks and splash screens. All interface images (such as buttons, check boxes, arrows etc...) can be found directly in the textures folder just as found in the original installation.

Help/Services and Extra Notes

When you have downloaded the folder you need, unzip the folder (by using either Winzip, 7Zip or any other unzip software) and place the folder found inside into the correct place inside your current FeralHeart folder. Please keep in mind that I have not added a default exports, presets or screenshots download due to the fact that they're empty to begin with (apart from the instruction inside the individual folders). If something is wrong you will just need to delete the contents inside.

▸ If you're wanting to replace your media folder and my_presets folder, then you drop them directly in the FeralHeart folder and replace when asked.

▸ If you are wanting to completely replace the FH folder then it is best to delete the FeralHeart folder you have before before placing the default FH folder in your previous FeralHeart folder location. (Usually found in Local Disk (C:) if you decided to keep the default location during installation).

▸ The last thing I must say is that all the downloads listed under 'Default Media Folder Sub-Folders' must be placed inside the media folder when/if you must replace them. If you are wanting to replace the folder completely, you must delete the media folder you currently have before replacing it with the one you download from here. I have listed what folders can be found in the individual folders provided.

If you need any more additional help, it is preferred if you ask in either the Game Help section, or via PM to any active/helpful community member (if you're one who prefers private assistance) to avoid clutter.

If you would like to share this thread with your friends or people in-game who need assistance, please feel free to use this quick to type link.

Screenshots / Free to use: Map scenery signatures
« on: June 15, 2016, 04:36:38 pm »
Map scenery signatures

So I recently changed my signature to a greyscale scenery of a map I completed yesterday and got a few lovely comments about it. The reason I am posting here now is so I can share a few sceneries of all new maps of Feral Heart for people to use as signatures if they wished to use them!

Lonely Cave

Cape of Distant Worlds

The Grounds

Seaside Grove

Ficho Tunnels

Cherika Valley

Eastern Pass

Kiwimbi Beach

Bonfire Islands

Zama Grotto

Like I said before, you're more than welcome to use them if you would like to for your Forum Signatures. Please give credit, of course, I didn't make these just to not be cretided for them!

**Please do not edit or alter these images. Respect my wishes.
However, you are open to add Quotes and/or filters. Thank you.**

Leaving / Dropping my duties
« on: March 04, 2016, 10:15:52 pm »
Sorry if this has come as a big shock... but as much as it pains me right now, I really want to keep my focus on other things other than this game.

Do not get me wrong, I love it's community and I love working with it, very very much. I am sure you all know that. However, I just feel as though I must move on. I will still be ingame, active as I am now, I just want to drop my position as staffer and focus on my art a little more, and my future, other than the feeling of big responsibilities on my shoulders. Maybe form new friendships if I can, but mostly focus my attention on the people I love most.

Will see you around, this isn't a forever goodbye, I just gotta do what I gotta do in order to feel less responsibility and time consuming stoof.

Thank you for understanding.
