Is Mediafire Safe?
« on: October 11, 2014, 10:41:09 pm »
Hello again, everyone, I'm not sure if this entirely belongs here, but has anyone ever encountered any serious problems with Mediafire while uploading/downloading presets/maps/etc.?

As a Mediafire user, I can assure you Mediafire is pretty safe.

It can take a while to upload stuff depending on the size of the files, but security wise it's safe as far as I know.

Mediafire itself is ok, however be cautious of any ad popups that occur. Don't download any prompts or download random files from the site. As long as you have an antivirus running and you are aware that sometimes ads can have viruses or tracking cookies, you should be fine. I myself use Mediafire for uploading FH files, since I find it more trustworthy than other uploading sites.

As Alpha mentioned above.

Mediafire is a simple way to share bigger files or just packs of them if you see needed, simple to sign up and start managing files so it's a go to site for many that gives out mods or maps or even presets. But as stated earlier you should use the site with caution, the ads that gets displayed there can more than likely give you nasty things on your computer if you're unlucky. I myself got some nasty ransomware from mediafire once all because I wanted to tab back into my browser and accidentally misclicked, I have still used mediafire after that however since it is handy and many think the same.

By being signed up and uploading your files there's nothing wrong at all, it is a legit site used by many but you would want to use it with care like with so many other sites out there.

Personally I avoid Mediafire because of all of the ads on there. Even Adblock can't block the pop-ups. Although it's a trustworthy site to host files.

It indeed is pretty safe. The ads can be harmful if you tend to mess around with them. I do prefer Dropbox but I assure you as everybody else said Mediafire is safe to download from, but it is good to be cautious. So like everyone else said it's safe. c:

If you download from mediafire, I strongly suggest you use both adblock and scriptsafe addons for google chrome if you do. The site itself is safe, but the advertisements and pop-ups definitely aren't-- as mentioned before. There's very little chance of things slipping through with both these extensions active. Even then, you're likely safe if you just click 'download' and leave, but there's no such thing as being too cautious!

Security wise, nearly all filesharing sites often display malicious advertisements, but a strong antivirus and the right browser addons should keep you perfectly safe. I'm a bit pedantic about security myself after loosing an old laptop to malware! :P

I have never had any issues with Mediafire.
Just, as Nemena already mentioned, keep away from any ads. But that applies to most websites you visit.
RETIRED.
