Preset help
« on: September 30, 2013, 06:40:39 pm »

Hello there guys!
An idea for a husky character with a preset is bugging my mind for weeks. :D I am determined to learn once forever how to make nice presets. I'm new in the presets stuff, and I'm sure I need to practise in order to make a realistic preset. I just started learning the basic requiremens to make a preset and I already made a successful canine head preset. :D I have also a few questions, which I am sure they are for more advanced preset makers, but the idea for the husky's appearance is related to the answers of these questions. Okay, we shall start with my idea for the character's appearance.~

I want it to be an almost pure white female husky. White pelt, white underfur, white tail with white tip. The head here is more complex. I want the husky to be with different eyes - one blue and one brown. Also, I want it to have one black or dark brown spot which is around the ear, covering the brown eye. It is going to be white colored above and below the brown eye. For the blue eye, it is going to be the same color as the spot above and below. I also want the husky to have short 'socks' with the same color as the spot around the ear - the one sock on the right front leg and the other sock on the left hind leg.

Hope ya got the idea xD Not really sure if it's a husky actually o3o However, I imagine it as a husky. xD Okay... The questions.

1. How to make different eyes?
2. How to make different markings on each side?
3. Is it a problem if I add other shadings to the preset? Like, I want only the preset to have these shadings. Can I just save them somewhere, for example on the desktop, add them in the preset and then delete them?

So... yeah xD These are all my questions FOR NOW. I'll probably update or make a new thread if I have any new questions related to preset making. :)

P.S. Sorreh for the grammar mistakes I've probably done above.. c:

To answer your first and second question... here's codes for ya.

Code: [Select]
material preset_#_bodyMatL
{
technique
{
pass
{
texture_unit
{
texture preset_#bodyL.jpg
}
}
}
}
material preset_#_bodyMatR
{
technique
{
pass
{
texture_unit
{
texture preset_#bodyR.jpg
}
}
}
}

Above is the body. These are markings I assume. Now, read over what I'm talking 'bout here... see a difference between right and left codes? This will also work for eye stuff. One texture is different in a slight way from the other side's texture in being told by the fellow code here.

Just edit the code like that, make two different kinds of textures for both sides (of course, you can just edit the first texture/file and name it different to match the code) and ta-da~ I really hope I made sense there.

Also, for your third question, not really sure what you mean. Though that's just me, someone else could understand ya there.

Also if you are looking to make your Husky more interesting you can add more complex coding as well with the same principles as well
make sure when wanting two different things on both side to use this

Preset_3headR
Preset_3headL

If you are wanting other coding such as transparent, or moving markings for other preset ideas you might have, click the link below.

Like, getting "markings" or something  from the Internet, download them, and use them in your preset? I didn't understand you very well there; but hey.

Yes you can, but you're gonna give credit to the owner... Aren't you? Like, outside the UV, put "THX *owner of the texture*, *owner of the texture*, etc. Dun worry, these are not gonna show up on the preset.

Since I don't have FeralHeart in this computer, I don't have any ways to explain this correctly to you.

Geez, sorry people for the bad explaining of the third question, my english sucks Cx Well, just ignore the last question, it is not the most important one, I already got the information I needed. :)
