Pup Years(1month-1 year):
Jake was born on a cloudy night. It was about to storm, and his parents looked at him with caring eyes. They smiled and hugged each other, looking right at him. They named him Merrell - after the pack's old alpha. They sung him a lullaby and he rolled over, fast asleep.
Two weeks later, he opened his eyes for the first time. He looked at his parents and smiled. They laughed and his mother grabbed him by the scruff and they walked out of the cave, shielding his eyes from the bright sunlight. After they walked over to the Alpha's den, his dad went inside and a few minutes later the Alpha came out, and looked at the pup. He inspected him for any defects and when he was done - smiled. He let his parents know he was a good pup, and could stay.
He giggled, and wiggled out of his mom's grasp and slowly started to paw around. Once he'd gotten used to it - he started running, and smiling with his tongue sticking out of his jaw. He met another group of pups, and began dancing, giggling, and singing with them. It was all really annoying to the adults, but to the pups it was amazing.
After the day was over, he slowly walked over to his mom, tired as could be. He curled up under her soft, warm fur and slept peacefully. Singing the song they had sung inside his head.
Teenage Years(2years-3years):
Jake woke up, to a brand new day. He walked outside and over to his group of friends. He smiled and laughed with them for a while, then disappeared. He was on his usual trail through the woods when he saw a bright purple color on the ground. He sniffed it, and picked up a wet leaf and scraped it all in. He ran back into his den and set it on the ground. He dipped his claws in it and scraped it against the walls. After a while, he stood back and admired his first work of art. His parents walked in, shocked at what he had done. Hurrying, they covered it all up with shrubs and reprimanded him.
The alpha came in a few minutes later, with a bit of food and gave a piece to each of them. They ate, and talked for a while and then he left. Not particularly noticing the intense amount of shrubs.
Jake felt horrible. Never had his parents yelled or even screamed at him that bad. They had told him he was the perfect child. In the morning he woke up early, and walked out to meet his friends. They all glared at him, and then smirked - they'd obviously heard what had happened. When he came to sit with them, they all left, kicking dust into him and laughed.
Then - she came over. It was her. Alay. The most beautiful tan wolf he'd ever lay eyes on. He smiled at her, and she laughed, walked over, and sat next to him. She told him about his art, and that she'd never seen anything like it before. It was something different for once, and she loved it. He smiled, and laughed, forgetting all about his friends.
Months later, he had his second birthday. Him and Alay had become extremely close. His friends still laughed at him when he came near, but he'd pay no attention to them, and walk by. But one night - all he had left him.
The enemy pack came, and began killing. They had killed the alpha, his parents, and had started on....Alay. They threw her into a river, and bit down on her muzzle. He ran towards them, barreling into them and knocking one of them off their paws. His friends stared at him - shocked. The other wolves in the group, started coming towards him, leaving poor Alay to watch - and die. The three wolves jumped on top of him, and nobody could see his body for a while. After what seemed like ages, he began to resurface and bit one wolf on the muzzle - crushed another's skull - and bit one's tail off. He dragged Alay carefully out of the water and into the woods where his trail was. She pointed out all his cuts, and he grimaced. The worst was his shoulder, where one had gotten a rather large bite out of it. He just laughed and told her to save her energy. When he set her down, he looked into her eyes, and whispered "I love you". She laughed, and her eyes closed. Jake howled his own version of the mourning howl. He left her, after covering her with shrubs, and leaves. He came towards a clearing - somewhere he'd never been. He heard a twig snap and started in full run - whining when his shoulder began to hurt. He ran into a strange wolf and he looked at him - in pure shock and he howled towards another wolf...Looking around, his eyes began to shut. He felt his shoulder throbbing in pain and he sank into darkness.
Mature Years(4years-present):
He woke up in a dark cave, unsure of where he was. He tried to move, but an older wolf quickly told him to stay exactly where he was. Knowing he was probably right - he lay back down and asked him where exactly he was. The older wolf smiled, he responded simply stating that he was safe, and he'd find out when his shoulder was ok again. He walked out of the den, and just before the leaves covered the den again, he saw bones over his face. Jake gasped quietly. He figured it'd be good to get some rest, so he shut his eyes and went to sleep.
He woke up, the bandaged removed. He attempted to move, and stood up. Painfully, he walked outside of the den he was in, and shrunk back. He wasn't used to sunlight. The wolf who spoke to him the previous day came over to him and smiled. He explained to him that he was in the territory of the Pack of Bones. Jake's eyes widened, his parents told the stories when he was younger about this pack...They told him they were bad. He snarled and several wolves came over to protect their leader. Jake started crouching, and slowly walked over to him. He stuck his tail up in the air, and continued to snarl. The leader told the others to continue what they were doing, and he smiled at Jake. He leaped in the air and came back down, pinning him to the ground. He smiled at Jake, and spoke. "Merrell, I'm not the evil your parents spoke of. They are afraid of us, so they lie to their children." he said, and lifted his paw. Jake looked towards the woods, and frowned. The leader explained to him that they had found the body of a young female, and buried her in the traditional way. Jake thanked him, and became more friendly with the leader after that moment. The leader looked at him, and kindly asked him to join into the ranks of the Pack of Bones. Jake, of course accepted the offer. His leader smiled, and nodded. He led him over to a shrine-like object - and reached into a small box, and pulled out what seemed like a mask. "I name you, Jake of the Pack of Bones." he said, and placed the mask onto Jake's head. He sent Jake on his first task as a member of the pack - to find berries of different colors. When he returned, he gave the berries to his leader. Jake followed him into the den he woke in, and when his leader turned on the lights, he stepped back...Shocked to find that these wolves - were artists like him. Immediately Jake took the purple color, dipped his claw in it and began to fill in an empty spot. His leader smiled when he finished, noting his artistic talents.
After months of training, the leader promoted him to the deputy of the pack. Jake had grown to be part of the family through the ages and hugged the leader, a tear coming from his eye. Never had he been looked upon so proudly before. Jake then set out on his normal patrol, only this time, he found a bright red substance. Curious, he dipped a claw in it. He began to light up, and his knees buckled. He fell to the ground, in serious pain.
"He should be back now, am I wrong?" the leader asked himself in his den. He began to follow Jake's scent, and when it got smellier - he looked straight ahead. There lay in front of him, a bright red wolf, laying on the ground whimpering in pain. The leader screamed Jake's name, and immediately Jake looked up. He began crawling helplessly towards his leader. His leader recognized the look of Jake's pelt and his eyes saddened. He had never thought the day would come, when he would have to see the small male who he thought of as his son, officially become The Demon of the pack. He motioned for Jake to follow him back to the pack camp and reassured him that he would be ok. When they arrived back at camp, Jake was able to stand. Most of the pain had left him, and he followed his leader into the den. Saddened, his leader told him what had happened to him. Jake looked at him, shocked. His leader then explained to him that to be able to survive with these abilities - he'd have to control them. So began the months of training for his abilities. Many, many moons went by, until one day, his leader smiled and congratulated him. He'd learnt to control his abilities.
Jake had then told his leader that he was going to leave on a journey, and possibly would never return. Understanding, the leader nodded, and gave Jake one last thing. It was a necklace-like object with one of Alay's teeth inside. He smiled and nodded his thanks, and began his journey to find his home.
