Discussion Board / Re: Do you have an inner voice?
« on: May 24, 2020, 07:29:16 am »
Personally, I think it's something normal, something that all people have, and not something with like supernatural connections. When I hear the word 'inner-voice' I think about the little voice at the back of your head that you can hear everytime you write something, or when you think about something you somewhat build it in your head. I'm thinking about an orange right now, and all I 'see' in my mind is an orange in a black space. It's probably brain stuff, maybe that's just how we are built.

As I'm writing this, I can hear that inner voice, saying all these things that I'm writing. Thing is, you can't ACTUALLY hear it. It's kinda trippy if you ask me, and too complicated to be developed by the FH community (not saying we aren't smart, because we are, it's just that the subject of inner voices is big) . To put it short though, I do have an inner voice. I thought everyone does. Do you like, not hear anything AT ALL whenever you read something, or think about something?

That's so interesting :0 And I feel that lol. As much as I love the FH community, you're right—this likely won't get much traction, but I just felt the need to sate my curiosity bahaha. Whenever people in my life told me to 'listen to the little voice in the back of your mind,' I thought it was just a saying. Like telling your kids to think about something twice before doing it, or having common sense. Apparently it's some brain thing that the majority of people have :'D

To answer your question, I don't hear anything. Whether if I'm reading or thinking, or even trying to talk to myself in my head, I can't hear anything. Same thing when I try to visualize; when I close my eyes (or keep them open sometimes) to try and 'see' something, like an orange, I don't see anything. If my eyes are closed, it's just black. I don't know how else to describe it all except just an abstract cluster of thought with no language or imagery to translate it. Even as I write, I can't hear what I'm thinking, or what I think my next words will be.

My friend and I have come to the conclusion that I have lizard brain LOL

Oh, I feel ya. Or whenever people's characters have accents, and they try to type in that accent (i've been in a group where the leader spoke with an 'irish' accent) it just becomes a total mess.

Oh goodness gracious, some of my worst group roleplay experiences have had an abundance of those kind of roleplayers in it bahaha. I have zero issues with a character having an accent and the person behind them writing it out in a realistic manner for the accent (aka, not over-doing it or playing it up). However, it bothers me to no end when their entire post is written in an accent. I have no idea how to act in those situations except "smile and nod" lol.

Discussion Board / Do you have an inner voice?

Okay so, lemme explain LOL

In the past year, I've recently learned that some of you weirdos have an inner voice? Like, y'all can HEAR that?? I thought it was an expression or metaphor this whole time, all 18 years old my life! ON TOP OF THAT, you people can imagine things? And SEE THEM IN YOUR MIND? WHAT. That's literally insane to think about, I had no idea.

But seriously, it's been interesting and also horrifying trying to wrap my head around the concept of having an inner voice and a mind's eye. I've been completely reevaluating the way I think and the way I think that I think. That makes almost no sense but HAH, grammar is correct. I think. Apparently the lack of an inner voice/mind's eye is called aphantasia. Whoa.

I had a conversation with a friend earlier about this whole thing, and this was my attempt at rationalizing the way I think:

"My thoughts are like, a thousand voices talking all at the same time about different ideas, except you can’t hear or see anything about it and can either subconsciously think about things to them done  or consciously think about things to get them done, which takes longer and physically hurts my head but it’s the way I was conditioned to think and learn so now I’m trying to unlearn it all and think the way that’s best for me."

The TL;DR is that I think in abstract thought without actually thinking in words or images bahaha.

     So it all boils down to my question! Do you have an inner voice/mind's eye? Do most of you have it and I'm just slow? What's it like being able to see things and hear a voice in your head? I feel like I'm missing out ;ooo;

No idea if this was said already or not, but when certain groups require an absurd amount of "literacy" from a person, usually reducing the concept of literacy down to wolfspeak. This isn't much of an issue/pet peeve for me anymore, as I haven't seen many groups do this, but there were plenty in FH's past where I've gotten kicked from groups for not writing like I'm throwing up a thesaurus bahaha

Personally, wolfspeak bothers me but I don't confront people I roleplay with about it unless it becomes difficult to decipher :'D

Thank you guys so much ;ooo; I'm glad y'all like him!

Quite the character! I'd love to RP with him (me with my deer Henry - pictured below) if you'd get the chance!
Oh, that sounds wonderful! :D I think a roleplay with the two of them would be super fun! My discord is in my signature if you'd like to add me there, otherwise we could just meet up in-game sometime as well c:

Characters / Naara :D
« on: May 24, 2020, 12:01:19 am »
     Hi there!

I wanted to share a new character that I created because I think he's super cute and I want to develop him more as time goes on and I get less lazy bahaha

OKay, so his name is Naara! :D Naara is a young man of 19 years old with the body of a deer and the torso of a man—otherwise known as a cervitaur. He has slightly tan skin and stands at 5'8, about average for his species, if not a little under. Naara isn't particularly muscular, but has more strength and power than the normal physically fit human. Though not as strong as other males in his species, he excels in agility and speed, as well as having more stamina due to his smaller stature and no energy to waste in his lean build.

The guardian of a large section of forest, Naara takes his job seriously. He is very sweet and friendly to the other creatures in his forest, and has an understanding with the predators. As a cervitaur, he possesses nature magic, of which he is mediocre at due to his age and lack of a tribe, but is consistently getting better at.
Personality-wise, Naara is, as said before, kind and hospitable and such. However, this behavior is exclusive to creatures who live in his forest. Those who peacefully wish to pass through may do so, although they might find themselves uneasy, as if someone were watching them from when they enter to when they leave. Naara will become aggressive to those that pose a danger to his forest and its ecosystem. His aggression is directed at primarily hunters, human trespassers, and invasive species. No foreigner to his part of the forest is perfectly safe until Naara himself deems the individual worthy or "good". Normally, he will allow travelers to pass through as long as no harm is done to his home.

Alright, so because I'm awful at drawing both traditionally and digitally, I took a couple cute screenshots of Naara in Cherika Valley! I may add more screenshots just because after creating him on FH, I ended up super happy with his design :D Here ya go!

Whoa :O This looks amazing! I could never, for the life of me, figure out how to use all the fancy preset stuff like glow, scrolling, ambiance, etc., so great job! Can I ask what musician you based it off of? My first guess was gonna be Skrillex :'D

Ooh :o I might have to check you guys out sometime! This seems like a wonderful group to be apart of :D

Oh, forgot to add! I could add some screenshots of what the thing looks like in-game! :D You open it by pressing the home button on my keypad, and I set it to where you close it with the end button. It's really convenient because everything toggles so easily
