Yay for returning from holiday (look here about server downtime)

As some of you do and some of you don't know I came back from holiday yesterday apparently over the past week they've been emailing me threatening to take down the server for over usage not that its anywhere near the limits in my agreement with them they've told me the game should be back up either this evening to tomorrow as u can see I've got a fun little hack to get the site working again. I'll debate the issue with them over the next week and if we cant find a resolution looks like I'm gunna have to move hosts again.

For those who are a bit techy there effectively saying I'm sending too many packets per second apparently over 30000 per sec pulls up hack warning flags even if they are tiny payloads distributed evening across 100s of IP's.


Well we will see how it goes

Well if I may ask, Why doesn't FH host their own servers? Yes, the initial cost is harsh, but even then not always because you can turn simple small laptops and tower computers into servers. Its worth it in the end. Plus no fighting with the Hosting Company. I can see, though, how it would be a financial strain on FH.

The server itself isn't the issue I could well stuff a server of my own in a colocation rack in a data center but that wouldn't change the network load. the only way to do that would be to get a high performance fibre connection put to my home which hugely outweighs the costs of 10's of servers.
