Impossible, I think. It's just the mapping of the texture that is weird. If you use one of the male lion manes (not the fluffy one, which is different) and put a stripe onto the texture, the stripe will appear in the part around the neck aswell in the part ontop of the head. Also, you will get some small striped pieces on the chest and ontop of the neck.
Fluffy mane is different, but you can't place a single stripe there too: it will giv you loads of striped squares.
