What the heck? New un-intentional portals
« on: August 14, 2011, 06:33:03 pm »
Ok, I made some maps only today. And until today there hasn't been anybody in them. But today I went on and there were a reasonable amount of people, and I thought "Whaaaat...?" They say the maps are public, so does anyone know how to make them private?
The rooms where meant to be for RP not for public use.
The portal is in Cape of Distant Worlds, I haven't seen any other portals there since my joining of FH, and I'm sure others have made maps, how come these ones are showing up?
(P.S. Maps are called Plain, Icelaska, TheDam. There's a premade one called Watermill, but I have edited it slightly.

This sounds like a somewhat odd glitch that I haven't seen before.

What I can make out of this right now are 2 things.

Somehow these people managed to get a hold of a download to your map, how they did I don't know. maybe a friend of yours sent it to them.

Or

The game places map together into one if people use the same name for a map. Lets say 2 people make a map called Derrplands. These two people would end up in the same map even though it's the same?

I don't know, but if this is the case it would need to be sorted somehow.

I really don't know the real reason for this to be honest.

That could be it, thanks for helping, for now I've unchecked the portal, so that no one gets any more access to it (aka being able to modify it... thats overeacting) oh well, I don't suppose I really need a portal, if my group downloads it :D

Well yes, the map does need a portal. If it doesn't have one they wont be able to access it at all. You're the only one able to play on it, and that's from the map maker itself.

Keep in mind that when you send the map to your friends. You should ONLY send them the exported files, not the map folder itself. If you send them the map folder, anyone can edit it.

If it's just the exports, it's just for playing on.
