Converting maps
« on: May 21, 2014, 05:03:37 pm »
I'm actually not so sure if this is the right place for my question, but it fitted best here I guess...

Anyway, I am working often on maps here in FH and what I wondered now is, if there is a way to convert Fh maps to IT maps. I found an old map I once did in IT and I am working now on it here on FH, simply making it better, since it's not a lot easier to place meshes and all... but actually I would like to use that map, as soon as it's finished, in one of the IT servers around again.

So... is there any ay I can simply use the Fh map in It too? I mean, I know there are a few differences, especially since the file of the objects looks different and all... so does anyone know more about this or has done it already?

Thanks for your help!

Arr, I've never personally encountered someone who sought to accomplish somethin' like what ye're askin' before; thus, I'm unsure. I believe nein. Ye' cannot. Ye' can re-create the map on an IT server but actually convertin' a FH map onto a whole other server is- well, very unlikely.

Well I guessed already that it won't be that easy...

But well it's not like my own IT server, they just said that I could submit some maps I have made and just wanted to edit one of my old maps (which was created in IT). Right now I am editing it oin FH and using like that of course a lot more meshes and all....

What confuses me the most, is the object list itself. In IT the angle of an object is defined with degrees as far as I got it... but how are they defined in FH? If anyone could tell me that, then I would at least be able to just to convert the numbers to the needed format.

Like that it would work of course by editing the files, might take me some time, but it would work.

As Vesp has said before me, it is very unlikely to convert the .fhm file to a IT map. And to answer your other question up there:

Feral Heart objects are defined by:
- Pitch
- Yaw
- and Roll

As you said IT is defined by degrees, which may not be able to be defined on FH unless you find a converter(I may look for one to help you c:). But, simply put, it is unlikely to convert a .fhm to a .itm map item(if thats what it's called). Hope this helps you a bit~

You cannot convert it through Feralheart .fhm and .map files but you can through script in the .material files and .cfg files. It is possible however to make a map in Feralheart and manually transfer the object files and such into a new IT map.

Try this tutorial on the KITO forum: http://www.kitopen.com/t85-from-fh-to-it-easy-mapmaking-guide

Hope this helps :)
