Game Discussion / Small Guide for Cool Stuffs

Hey!
I wanted to make a little guide of mods, maps, etc that have become my go-to over the years.
Although the majority of the FH player base are long-time users,
I'm making this as beginner-friendly as possible.
Hopefully, this will help circulate some maps & mods to new users.

Green Screen Map:
If you want to edit screenshots of your FH character,
the easiest way to get rid of the background is with a green screen.
MoonlightRunix created a map for just that!
https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=45768.0

To get rid of the background, I typically use gimp.
Here's a video tutorial that's helpful
but there are numerous tutorials out there:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMHnkjWP1yU

Here's an example of a screenshot I took in the green screen map
and then removed the background in gimp:

Legendary Items and Markings:
Most users have additional markings/items downloaded called "Legendary Markings/Items."
If you see other players walking around looking like marshmallows,
it's most likely because they have a markings pack downloaded.
Ame88 created a bundle of both Legendary Items and Markings which you can find here:
https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=67888.0

Fur Textures:
There are plenty of fur, eye and mane textures out there.
There's a few texture packs that are popular but, as far as I can tell,
there isn't a texture pack that the majority of users download.
But you can find free-to-use textures by searching through the forums:
https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?board=34.0
Or you can check out the FeralHeart deviantart:
https://www.deviantart.com/feral-heart-art/gallery/29489501/meshes-textures

FeralHeart Download for Macbook:
I currently run FeralHeart on Macbook,
so if you're having trouble figuring out how to download FH on Mac,
I recommend this tutorial by Sincerest:
https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=70099.0

Now, I don't intend to make this guide super extensive,
as there is already official FH guides on the forums.
This post if moreso based on downloads/maps/mods that are accessible and commonly downloaded.
But I've probably forgotten some neat stuff so please leave suggestions!

I can see the images fine! What image hosting site did you end up using?

But I liked seeing these! The seaside grove ones are really nice : O

Also glad we could help! It's addicting messing around with forum posts haha
Hope to see more!

I noticed that Aero posted some helpful links and would like to include my own! Here's the tutorial I made on forum text colors and fonts!

Imgur isn't always the best solution for images as its been a little wonky recently (at least for me), sometimes links don't stay permanent on there from what I've noticed, but it is still a great image hosting website! If you use Discord you can directly link any images you post there since they host their images, and there's another great website called postimage.org which seems to be working just fine and keeping links!

These are the codes I use most often:

Text colors
Code: [Select]
[color=colorname]text here[/color]
Text fonts
Code: [Select]
[font=font name]text here[/font]Images
Code: [Select]
[img]imagelink[/img] - you can change the height and width of the image if you feel the need by using
Code: [Select]
[img width=# height=#]imagelink[/img]
Finally, to insert a link into text,
Code: [Select]
[url=linkhere]text[/url] This will make links show up like I did my 'forum text colors and fonts' link! You can also change the color of it like I did to make it easier to see just by putting the color code around the url code.

Hope these all help! Let me know if you have any questions, and again, welcome to our wonderful community!

I honestly didn't know you could use Discord links and I didn't know about postimage.org either. I learned something too haha
Thank you Toon!

Welcome back Zwei! I feel like I recognize your username as well!
Despite FH being a niche game, it still brings people from all corners of the internet. Warriors fans, Lion King fans, and everyone in between. There's definitely still people out there that would fall in love with the game just like the rest of us did!

YES!
Video trailers for FH are my favorite, I love seeing them. Was actually planning to make my own at some point haha.
Thank you for making this!

(Also please release it if you feel comfortable doing so. I think it'd have a positive impact for FH. It had a positive impact on me at least!)

Hey and welcome !!
It's really nice to know that even someone who's just now joining FH can still see the charm of the game & community.

The forums are a bit of a learning curve and I unfortunately stayed away from the forums for years despite being a user since 2011.
But turns out the forums are great haha, you just have to get the hang of it.

There are tutorials for pretty much everything on the forums, including coding, map making, and presets making.
Additionally, you can find BBCoding tutorials elsewhere if you google it.

I'll give you a quick tutorial on how to add images/screenshots to the forums.
You'll first want to upload the photo to an image hosting service. People have used Photobucket and Flickr in the past. But I recommend using Imgur.

Once you upload an image to Imgur, you'll want to click "Get share links"

Then you'll want to copy where it says "BBCode (Forums)"

Then on the forums you're gonna want to paste that link into a code you'll type out. Here's what it should look like:

Where it says img width you can just mess around with the size, it does not have to be 650. The bigger the number, the bigger the image will appear.

I'll leave a few other links to some fun and helpful tutorials:

I really dig the design of Ruvel and Anju! Is there meaning behind the names?

I always like seeing other people's characters, probably one of my favorite things about FeralHeart. Thank you for sharing!!
